New episodes of LUCKY HANK premiere Sundays at 9pm on AMC, catch up any time on AMC+.
Season Two - Episode Eight: "Better Call Saul"
Episode Description:
With the DEA on their trail, Walt and Jesse decide to hire Saul Goodman, a lawyer who has experience with clients that have been in "similar" situations. Meanwhile, Hank's relationship with Marie becomes strained as he begins to buckle under pressure.
Episode Overview:
When Badger is arrested in an Albuquerque PD sting, his first call is to Saul Goodman, a lawyer known primarily for his aggressive ad campaign. And though Badger and his sidekicks do their best to keep the arrest a secret, Jesse and Walt soon learn he’s in jail. Meanwhile, as their relationship grows, Jesse learns that his landlord, Jane, is a recovering alcoholic. And with Skyler already working weekends at her new job, a very fragile Hank arrives back in Albuquerque to a hero’s welcome from his DEA colleagues.
During their first jailhouse meeting, Saul makes it clear that he can offer the best defense money can buy - just as soon as Badger comes up with the cash. However, after spotting the detective who arrested his client talking with Hank and his partner, Saul is sure he can make a deal if Badger will turn over his supplier to the Feds. Upon meeting to pay for Saul’s services, Walt realizes that the lawyer is working to get Badger released in exchange for turning over his partners - namely him and Jesse. But when Saul refuses $10,000 to make sure Badger never talks to the DEA, Walt and Jesse meet to plan their next move.
Desperate to keep Badger quiet and out of jail, Walt and Jesse don ski masks and kidnap Saul. Upon realizing that he’s dealing with a pair of amateurs and not a ruthless Mexican drug cartel, the lawyer offers to hire ex-con James Kilkelly - aka Jimmy In-N’-Out - who is willing to be arrested as the supplier. However, as Hank is left feeling that something isn’t quite right about the bust, a little investigating leads Saul to learn more about Walt. And after approaching him in his high school classroom, he offers his legal services to the drug ring.

Now we know that Saul actually believed in Walt's capabilities to make them rich, even if Mike told him he was not worth it. God, I love how Better Call Saul contextualizes everything on Breaking Bad.
It's not just that, Jimmy is a con-artist. He likely wanted to somehow hoodwink Walt out of his earnings because he thought Walter was an easy-mark.
@@AIONBERSERKER yeah I agree. Especially in the most recent episode of BCS when Mike dug deep to find out more about Walt and he told Saul, "small potatoes"...both of them seriously underestimated what this one high school chemistry teacher was capable of..😳🤯

Me in 2022:Don't you go there you idiot!I'm begging you, don't do that. Please don't do that!
Lol why again? It's been forever since i saw Breaking Bad, what did Jimmy do exactly for Walt and Jesse? He just introduced them to Gus? He wasnt actually selling it? Cus what is Saul Goodman actually on the run from? Why do the cops and DEA want him again?
@@billblaski9523 have you seen last week's Better Call Saul episode?
@@billblaski9523 He was their lawyer. He knew everything, convinced them to keep going, and basically became an equal partner in what they were doing. He laundered and hid all of their money, intimidated witnesses, falsified evidence (remember how Walt got the car wash?), and was the backbone of Walt’s drug empire. Saul/Jimmy was essential to everything that developed in breaking bad, that’s why the cops are looking for him.
Don't you think Saul's mentioned in Jesse's confession ?
@@billblaski9523 The feds are all after him because they have nobody to hang over the Heisenberg drug empire. The man himself died in a lab, Jesse split, and Mike went to a farm upstate. Saul was one of the last people around to put on trial for Heisenberg's crimes, which is all the feds really want to do. Plus, catching Saul could mean catching a lot more people involved in the Heisenberg empire and other criminals since he was clearly a lawyer with a lot of connections. How much of a W would it be for the feds to catch the vacuum repair man, for example?
the line delivery on “better call saul” is just perfect
Chuck was right. He’s never gonna change. No matter which timeline.
No one ever changes.
He did change in the end.
Maybe being spat on when you make an honest attempt at trying has something to do with that. But maybe not. Either way, Chuck was still a cunt.
That's how you walk into your doom
Watching these scenes after BCS makes me sad to see where Saul originated. Kim, Davis and Maine, everything he tried to do the "right" way, but always failed. His fall is just as sad, if not more sad, that WW.
Personally, I don’t really think Walt’s was sad. Walt was reclaiming something -control over his life.
Throughout his whole life, he felt like huge decisions passed by him. He always felt like every time some big opportunity came up he passed up on it. He felt like a small person and a failure.
So when he found out his death was imminent, he realized that he didn’t want his life to be meaningless. So he went out and made it meaningful. He took control of his life. He went from bad faith to authenticity in existential terms. And meth making and murder aside, there’s power in that.
Jimmy’s descent into Saul Goodman is a little bit different. It’s not that Jimmy feels like he is powerless, it’s that he is stuck between his brother’s hope’s for him and his own way of doing things.
He wants to be accepted by Chuck during Better Call Saul, even now during Season 5. Kim is the last part of Saul’s life as Jimmy McGill that he still has. He’s holding onto her not just because he loves her, but because she reminds him of a part of himself that he wished he could be.
Jimmy will eventually alienate himself from Kim or something will happen to her. Kim is the only thing tethering Jimmy to his moral side. When she’s gone, he won’t have any part of the life his brother hoped for him left. Her absence will be the final piece of Jimmy’s departure into his new life as Saul Goodman. His “Better Call Saul” saying probably won’t be used until after Kim is gone.
Walt and Saul are both “Breaking Bad” like stories, but Walt’s is more “from bad faith to authenticity” where Saul’s is more, “There’s nothing for me here now. Fuck it.”
If you like shows with much character development and downfalls I would recommend mad men to you
@@faruk7487 BCS is basically a better version of mad men 🤷🏿♂️
He's slightly more relatable than Walt considering his family essentially threw him down the hole, whereas Walt was thrown down the hole by his cancer. Everyone has issues with family, not everyone has cancer. This makes Jimmy's moral collapse into cynicism all the more heartbreaking
@@SuperChunk19 couldn't have said it better myself, so true bro.
Imagine going up to Saul in this moment and telling him that Walter was going to be worse than Lalo
In hindsight, that's basically one of the most important scenes in breaking bad, if not the most important.
someone had to edit this scene with the new one
If you ever find that video send it right here
The RUclips channel "Totally Okay Productions" did one.
This scene hits diff after 6x11
This was the moment that gradually turned Saul's life into black and white.
They really weren't kidding about BCS changing the way we watch breaking bad. Can't wait to see what else they have in store
No? How did that change anything? We already knew that Saul was the one who "set" things in motion. We already knew he wanted to make a quick buck out of Walt. We already knew Mike insisted that working with Walt wasn't a good idea. Either people aren't paying attention or they just parrot whatever Vince and Peter tells them without even questioning everything. The only thing that has changed is Howard and Lalo under the lab, the rest has been just a retelling
The BB bits only served to tell us that Gene is making the same mistakes Saul did
@@zekeiwa5837 of course we know all that, but this season is making his motivations more and more clear, especially in last night's episode, sorry you couldn't see that but that's your problem
@@isaiahromero9861 "sorry you couldn't see that"
i literally explained that everyone with half a brain knew this already. i guess you're too busy smelling vince's farts that you can't read, but that's your problem. i mean, you needed two shows to get what regular people got on the first one ffs
@@zekeiwa5837 you literally sound like a miserable person, keep your negativity to yourself
This scene now...
Watching this after four seasons of Better Call Saul, it's easy to forget how terrible Saul becomes. This version of Saul is much worse than season four Saul.
@Keldor Miro bcs takes place before bb, what are you talking about?
@@cybpr8957 The Gene Flash-Fowards.
I mean in S4 Saul was selling phones in S5 he becomes slipping lawyer. Can't wait to see how far they take him in S6
his smile in this clip is pure sleaze. it's genuinely jarring after watching five seasons of bcs and knowing how warm jimmy can be. it's like he hollowed out that part of him.
This was the Breaking Bad scene where I got to love Saul, and there's a lot more Jimmy in it: ruclips.net/video/ez6xH-su2xI/видео.html Whole thing is very sad, I'm rooting for Gene.
Who's here after the latest Better Call Saul episode?
I'm just looking for friends, but yes last night's episode was a flashback inducing coma which I presume is only happening because Gene ran out of vhs's or his better call Saul collection became corrupted
This scene took place immediately after the latest episode of Better Call Saul ("Breaking Bad") when Saul walked into J. P. Wynne High School.
We know
Yeah thanks, I think we figured that one out

Anybody checking this scene out right after Better Call Saul S6E11? What an episode 🤯

Who’s here after the last scene of BCS S6, E11?

And to think that everything that happened on Breaking Bad could have been avoided if Saul had followed Mike's advice.
Realize in the minute 2:13 when he says to Walter " if he wanna make more money" he touches his ring, in BB it meant nothing ,but now, daaammm sliping jimmy at his highest point!!
Woah!!!
Holy S**t!!
