      Lalo always showed to be a very friendly man, but its psychological wisdom to know: If a friendly man turns angry, they turn into the worst monsters éver!
      It was easy to piss of Tuco, and he'd go at you like a beast
      The Twins were silent assasins; no words, just retribution.
      Lalo was the best, and worst of them: Much smarter then his cousins, equally skilled in violence, but Lalo had patience. If Lalo were to run out of patience, he would unleash a fírestorm on his enemies, that would even make Tuco, Marco and Leonel shiver in fear!

    Theory (or not) but I’m willing to bet lalo is one of the soul reasons why eladios cartel is so powerful and why the Salamanca name has such a strong reputation in that world. He’s a psychopath but he’s also a genius. With his head for numbers, his fluidity between Spanish and English, his social skills, his planning, his skills with a gun and his physicality. Eladios love for him is also very telling. Such a great character

    • @teddyjackson1902
      @teddyjackson1902 3 дня назад

      @@jakebeck4132 I’d argue that he’s certainly a psychopath, high functioning with a sense of family and loyalty. A person who can become so singularly focused and kill people without flinching or a second thought are psychopathic. He even had a live body double on standby living on his property. He saw people in three categories imo; family, tools or obstacles. Killing the kid, Howard and his body-double cinched what he was for me even if he had an internal code that governed him.

    • @jakebeck4132
      @jakebeck4132 3 дня назад

      @teddyjackson1902 a psychopath just hurts to hurt, they injure animals and innocent people just for their need to cause pain. The unsettling reality is that individuals like Lalo exist in real life-charming, always smiling, cracking jokes, and seemingly friendly, yet lacking a moral compass. They would do anything for their own benefit, though extreme actions like killing might be rare. Nonetheless, they can be ruthlessly opportunistic. In real life, they often become politicians, lawyers, marketers, and religious leaders.

    1:43 I love this scene for so many reasons but for one big one in particular. When Hector came to talk with Gus, he did it with all his goons and the subtlety and grace of a sledgehammer to the face. Which is fitting, because Hector was a powerful but cranky old man who was try to assert his dominance over Gus. But that was incredibly foolish, because as Gus pointed out making such a scene draws unwanted attention to the Cartel as a whole.
    But Lalo? He comes in and he plays the "game" just as well as Gus. To an outside observer this is just a hardworking manager and a appreciative customer having a conversation. Lalo plays to the role and comes to Gus' level but he does so in a way that puts Gus slightly on the back foot. And that makes Lalo seem even more dangerous than Hector because he understands and has mastered subtlety. While Hector came in with the subtlety and skill of a thug with a sledgehammer, Lalo comes at it with skill, speed, and precision like a knife fighter

    • @hopoff9968
      @hopoff9968 3 месяца назад +7

      That's interesting, he does have a knack for subtlety. So much so that I'm a bit confused, was Lalo trying to recruit Gus in a coup against Don Eladio? That's what he meant by getting along too well right?

    • @hfar_in_the_sky
      @hfar_in_the_sky 3 месяца назад +25

      @@hopoff9968 My read is that he was prodding Gus to see what his reaction would be and tease out his motivation. If Gus showed even a little bit of interest in even temporarily burying the hatchet with the Salamancas to take down Eladio a peg or two, then Gus’ motivator is power. If Gus shows no interest and is “fine with the way things are,” ie he’s fine with continuing to feud with the Salamancas, then his motivation is revenge. Either way Lalo will know how to proceed with Gus going forward

    I’ve seen someone like Lalo before. Can’t say for certain if they were psychopath or not but they sure did act like one. They were very personable and friendly, always smiling, and they ended up charming a lot of those they interacted with. But something was just off. It felt so performative and hollow, like there’s nothing behind their eyes. Then you’d see them act not so friendly. They would partake in behavior that would bring harm to themselves and others. You’d realize they only act pleasant and friendly to manipulate people. And that they knew how to read you much better than you knew how to read them, and they would use that knowledge to their every advantage. They’re relationships with others were just as hollow as they are. They did whatever they want, simply because they could. And it’s fucking terrifying to watch in action.
    That being said I adore Lalo as a character. As scary as people like him are they are just as fascinating. Tony Dalton nailed this character completely.

    The creators wanted Tony Dalton to play Lalo as a more thinking version of Hector and the twins combined, but he convinced them that the version we got would be more likeable and also more terrifying af the same time. Thank God they listened! The crazy thing is that despite everything, if Lalo offered me a job I'd probably work for him 😃😃😃

    Hector was the force to be reckoned with because at the end of the day he was the one who was truly in charge of the Salamanca family, even when he was crippled by the stroke. The fact that with just one look he could get every Salamanca soldier and even worse any of his nephews to do whatever he wanted (all 4 who were 100% devoted to him, specially Lalo who was the most capable and dangerous) says it all.

    Lalo killing Howard is one of those OMG moments on TV. The show had you hating Howard because he came across as the posh, stuck-up lawyer that screwed Jimmy, but in the end, he did nothing but try to help him, particularly when his own brother didn't support his law career. When Lalo killed Howard, you had to feel for the dude considering what Jimmy and Kim did to him earlier that day.

    I HATE the scene at travel wire where Lalo just glitches into the ceiling. Why couldn’t they have just placed a ladder or something? Make it seem like maintenance or whatever left it there. But instead, they have to make it so Lalo is gifted with supernatural powers. Really took away from the realism of the show.
