Heat shrinking the wires....I'm famous (infamous?) for doing a bang up soldering joint...absolutely perfect....then looking at the bench and seeing the nice little pieces of heat shrink lying there....I keep forgetting to slide the damn things in PRIOR to soldering lol..... If I had the gumption I'd work on creating heat shrink that can be applied AFTER the wires have been soldered!
Hmm, that's strange, missed this video! No wonder I've been cranky for the past week. Good video Lou. I also like the boring, but important stuff. Keep up the good work!
Lou, I can't begin to say how much of a help this has been to me! I am just starting down the same road with a GT4, but it is so similar that this is all so useful. I had a thread going on Fchat to look for restoration guides, and I have added a link to your channel. Plus, I love your humour and that you don't take things too seriously, but get them done. Please keep it coming!
nice vid again, funny to watch though, since my friend Marc (Mister308) installed the lights a couple of weeks ago.... 😊😊 now about those ‘temp’wheels..... I think they are hideous LOL. keep up the good work Lou. looking forward to the next 👊🏻👌🏻
I like to see how you’re protecting everything while you work on it. Like when you let that front piece drop, you had a blanket underneath ready. So many of these types of videos, the guys treat the parts as if they are worthless, dropping them on cement etc.
Great episode Lou. Just finishing up my headlight lift mechanisms and painted covers. Yup a lot of trial and error to fit them. Not sure if the newer headlight bucket design makes life any easier.....
I think it's smart of you to keep the hood upstairs away from everything else to minimize risk of damage. Car Wizard does the same thing and was talking about it in a recent video. He also talked about his distributor delete ignition module from Nick Ford's Ferrari which uses a XDI module that helps to simplify things and keep things more reliable. You may have mentioned this in a recent video but I wouldn't be surprised if this is in the works.
Hey Lou, I've been watching your Project 308 since you started and forgot to mention that all your commentary reminds me of Jay Leno (hope you view this as a compliment). Cheers!
I want to drop the suspension (air) as I dont like my height...its being sprayed in 3 weeks...I saw springs and shocks which dont seem to be air, can you recommend air shocks? Also I want an engine immobiliser....make brand?...any ideas on how to stop theft given the door locks on the car?? Wish I had you in the UK you would have done mine at the same time!
Hi Lou, well done with your videos. I have a twin distributor 308 and am having persistent missing issues. Just wondering if you are planning electronic ignition and if you have chosen a system? Thanks
Thanks Lou, that was cool. Hey, are the black headlight surrounds and louver pieces plastic? If they are use chem guys Black to Black. I’ve tried most everything and that product is the best I’ve used and I’ve tried a lot. Those Ferrari replica wheels at 4K a set seems a little over the top. You’re doing a great job. Aren’t those old simple electrical diagrams great! 😃
some tires are almost impossible to get, if you find them the price can be astronomical. I like the momos, putting way more modern wheels on my Lotus. thanks for tthe tip on blue plastic.
Hey Lou, Just to say that the wheels from Superformance are good replica speeedline 16" wheels. I bought one as a spare but beware........the superformance wheels obvioulsy do not have "Ferrari" embossed on the rim along with the rim size and you will have every armchair Ferrari nerd point out that they are therefore replicas which will really wind you up considering the attention to detail that you have lavished on your car. Also the finish on my Superformance wheel was less than satisfactory and I needed to get it re-finished. Superformance without hesitation compensated me. A first class company with first class customer service...I would be lost without them.
Russian steel needs a internal protective layer on as much as you can do .Can be done like you are doing .Otherwise you will end up driving a large Alka Seltzer 😀…….First bit of damp …..you know the rest .
Yes, yes, opinions, assholes, we all know the saying. Here goes. I would choose the 15" Ferrari five spoke wheels. There is just something that looks wrong about the proportions of larger wheels on the earlier cars that do not have the larger, more modern looking bumper covers that the QVs had. HOWEVER, I just finished my full fendered baja Beetle project back in September and having posted many, many pictures on Bookface and Insta, I understand the pain and suffering of other people's suggestions. Here's a suggestion, get your OWN project car, am I right? Love the build, hard to beat an early 308, looking forward to the Puma!
Continue to love watching this build. Can’t wait to see an engine in it and it’s first startup.
me too!
F the haters keep those wheels! Great update on the 308. Matt.
LOL. truth be told, I'm not crazy about them either.

wouldn't that be something.
happens when flaring brake lines all the time LOL
@@billbrisson haha I bet! When I used to do that in school I'd be....OH crap, I did it again....lol.....

You are most welcome Dario.
It's looking good and bringing back lots of memories!
Thanks.
I enjoy these videos, I admire your skill and talent.
thank you Joseph.

molto bello per rendere la tua acquataince e grazie per la visione e il commento. Saluti Lou
keep the boring stuff coming, always good to watch, and share your journey Lou.
thanks Jonathan.
Nice update Lou. Thank you.
Thank you Georges.

Trying to keep it as clean as possible. Thanks.
Another great video, thanks Lou.
I agree with you, the 16” QV wheels will look perfect.
Agreed. Many thanks.
The momos look awesome
Not sold on them.
Great episode Lou. Just finishing up my headlight lift mechanisms and painted covers. Yup a lot of trial and error to fit them. Not sure if the newer headlight bucket design makes life any easier.....
this car is all about finicky.
Mighty fine looking work you are doing there. Can you feel the envy from CA?
I can now. Cheers from Canada!
I saw project Puma when I came in. Didn't know it was gonna be an EV. Looking forward to seeing that as well.
Hoping to have the first video up in a couple of weeks.
Hi Lou really enjoying watching the 308 slowly coming together.
Just wondered if you have a timeline on finishing the build?
Thanks. Hopefully running this summer.

I have mentioned it before yes, but I’m still considering more traditional options. Thanks
Wonder if it is possible to add the all important embossing during the refinishing process.......Go to it Lou
will do.

That is indeed a compliment. Many thanks Nathan.
thank your for the content and humor.
thank you for watching!!
Did you decide on which ignition system you’re going to use? I think before you were leaning towards the one the Car Wizard installed on his.
A fellow 308 owner has supplied me with a euro single distributor which I am considering.
Agree but I’m surprised how old the components look and the condition like the fuses and relay but yes I can’t wait to see ur drive
Me too!!

Air ride in a Ferrari? I wouldn’t go there personally. Theft device. The club!
That protective film......I have a question: what's it wurth?
(I kill me, I really do! hahahahahah)
funny guy!
Hi Lou, well done with your videos. I have a twin distributor 308 and am having persistent missing issues. Just wondering if you are planning electronic ignition and if you have chosen a system? Thanks
haven't decided yet.. that is a little ways off.
@@LouTrottier thanks
Moving along nicely Lou . Some sketchy 1970’s engineering to overcome ...
Sketchy. That’s an understatement.
I’m pretty sure US spec cars had the side markers that you referred to as Euro lights.
Yeah. Mine is US car that was Euro’d.

I'll check out the black to black stuff, never heard of it. Those wheels are pricey, I'm hoping to find a used set. thanks!
I like the 14 inch oem wheels.
So do I. But lean toward 16 for drivability.
Hey Lou love your videos! Would you ever consider a LED or HID conversion for the headlights?
probably yes.
some tires are almost impossible to get, if you find them the price can be astronomical. I like the momos, putting way more modern wheels on my Lotus.
thanks for tthe tip on blue plastic.
you are welcome. thanks.
Will there be news on the ignition system?
at some point yes, but nowhere near there yet. thanks
Lou, what the heck are you doing on 4:30? Surely looks kind of scary and dirty😂
Not sure what you mean?
When someone asked for a second opinion we used to insert an insult. We won’t do that here because we like you.
Thanks for the “like”. Lol.
8:47
thanks!
I’m with Terry on this, Momo’s are fine.
Not sold on them.
Great to see it come together when it gets done you probably be scared to drive it this is a shitload of work
I imagine you are correct.
My wheels are metric. Only tires available are Michelin TRX and they are ungodly expensive.
I am familiar with those ones. Yes they are pricey.

hmm.. interesting. thanks for letting me know. cheers
What’s up next on the car :)
As I type this I am underneath the 308 replacing brake lines.
Nice rims 😉
not many people like them.LOL
I like the black headlight grills, but I don't think they are period correct. say hey to Terry for us :)
I've heard so many opinions on this.. i don't care, I like em too! thanks.

Trying my best to do all buts if the car justice.
🇬🇧🇬🇧 That is going to be A CAR to be proud of love IT 🍻💫💫🏎🏎👏👏👍👍🍺🍺
Thanks Pete.
9:41 me and terry? we be like this > < I personally liked them......
Terry is okay right?
@@LouTrottier I wouldn't go that far hahahah
(sorry terry lol)

Cheers. Thanks. I will source a set of 16 replicas I guess.
Those wheels look like the cheapest available wheels you bought from the tire store in town. They really don't do your car justice.
That seems to be the consensus.
the wheels are better than origianl much bigger , and bigger is better
I’m not sold on them. But I do like the larger size.
If this isn’t a restoration then nothing is.
Thanks.
Little by little, eventually you will run out of things to fix, and it'll be time to fire up that prancing horse!
some day, yes.
