Love the bit with Terry using a pair of plyers as a hammer. Our Teutonic friends would not be pleased. " it's not the tools. it's the way you are using them"
74 TR6....yeah baby! There's a '71 280z in the shop next door to mine, YAY baby..... I love all the early 70's imports....MGB Spitfire TR6 240 and 280z's great little bombing around cars.....
I thought I saw that, well now I am a qualified couch mechanic. Imagine my happiness. Great to watch a guy who is not afraid to get out of his experience range.
Saw you filming some content when I picked up my car the other day, needles to say I have binge watched all the episodes now lol. Great series so far!! Its awesome to get an up close and personal look at how these cars were made!
The ATE calipers do have a tendency to be noisy so you need to put anti-seize along the pad edges and on all the contact surfaces of the mounting pins and springs. That and a light chamfer to the edges of the pads will ensure totally quiet brakes. Also the sway bar looked to be biased left a little. This is super common as it is almost impossible to center it in one go. Loosen the mounting bushings and give it a good whack with a rubber mallot to get the drop links vertical then tighten up. Looking good as always.
Discovered your channel from the recent Jalopnik article. Really like your editing style: speeding up the nitty gritty while narrating with interesting comments.
A really amazing episode!!! Thank you so much for doing it! When I buy my 308, I will watch the the episodes again and at least try to fix most things by myself!! Awesome work!!
It's not always easy to admit we boned up and missed a step; really appreciate you putting it out there that you're human just like the rest of us and it's okay to take a few minutes to correct it. So many out there would just gloss over it on their "rebuild" videos...thanks for not being them. ;)
Love the format of your channel! Learning a lot too even though I don’t own a 308 but the things I pick up I can apply to my classic TVR Chimaera here in the UK. Looking forward to more great content from you.
Don’t worry about the costs Lou . Full speed ahead . It’s all about your subscribers and the great content . Lol ... Lou I noticed a mint TR6 in the back ground with red line tires . Any chance you can breakaway from the 308 and give a little show and tell on the TR6 . My fav !
Lou, just such a great channel….entertaining and a great “workshop manual” for me and my 308. Echo the previous comment about missing the painting costs…if this was free then can u share who does this kind of charity work 😜
Love your channel Lou. Living out my Ferrari dream ownership through your quality restoration. I always watch to the end! Cheers from a marine climate mild winter in New Zealand, which is so pathetic compared to what you Canadians endure!
I like that we seem to be getting more videos from you Lou, more often. Perhaps I should be working and not watching your videos, but regardless, I love it, keep it up!
And maybe I should be working on my Lotus 15 project that I bought from Rob instead of watching you, but then again, watching you work is SO MUCH EASIER! :-)
Thanks for the entertaining series! Sorry if I missed it, but I checked back in the series but didn't find an "origin" story of how you came to own the car in the first place? (The cost list reminded me because I saw you didn't mention upfront cost to buy the car in the first place.)
20:05 Terry's a better man than I am.....I would have purposely whacked your finger lol.....(not hard, just enough hehehe)......OW you hit my finger! "sorry" tap tap OW stop hitting MY FINGER "smiles devlishly" lolol
for those who are lonely...become a mechanic...you'll always have a friend looking for you to sign a safety :) I got mine when it was still a "Class A" license.... before the 310 T or 310 S stuff
Damn where'd I put that wrench.....I thought you were going to say "oh yeah, it's in my hand" I've actually done that......"where the F did I put that 1/2" wrench" oh yeah, I'm holding it lol (in my defence I was working on something that had 3 different sized nuts, that's my story and I'm sticking to it)
Such a underrated channel, great editing a you have such a personality! Can’t believe you do not have way more subs!
Thank you.

And a proper paint job. But at the end of the day you're still ahead. Can't wait to see the car when it's complete.
you and me both.
You've reeled me in on the 308 content, officially subscribed now....

@@LouTrottier Tx for the videos Lou. I loved the 912 one as well. Used to have a 68 911L. Such a great car. I miss it so much!

Totally agree with David....the very best of RUclips cars.......
Thanks.
Brilliant! Love this rebuild of your 308! I also agree - any nut and bolt should have grease applied. It's an old school rule...
Thanks for watching.
If I ever had to buy a 308, it would have to be this one. Great attention to detail Lou. Luck man who buys it after you.
thanks, hopefully I'll keep it for 10 + years.
Enjoying seeing the car coming together now, like that you tell us how it is👍

Yup. It’s a lot of fun!
Fine work Lou!

Representing the Hankook's.👌 Love their tires. Put them on my '99 Miata and 2000 Civic Coupe. Best bang for the buck.

Beautiful color on that TR6.
