@@pyromaniac2104 yeah, for the most part, but every now and again the game has some unrealistic stuff with guns, like in certain cutscenes, some characters will pull the cylinder of their cattleman out to check for ammo even though the cattleman's cylinder doesn't pop out like that
It makes sense in a gameplay sense that the weapons reload pretty quickly. Like GTA, most times you're using a gun, you're in combat. It's better to make the reloads faster so you can back to the action just as fast
Aegis idk seems like a cop out to make more generic gunplay. Making the reload spread an actual factor the player has to take account of would be amazing. It would give a reason to get a second revolver, and make cover and tactical shot usage a part of the game instead of spray and pray nation.
This is compounded by the fact that the gunplay is pretty shit compared to its contemporaries and is inconsistent with the game's overall weighted feel. Damn near every single animation in the game takes a long time, sometimes unnecessarily and unrealistically long such as picking up items on the ground or on a table. But firearm reload animations are faster than modern CoD animations?
Shahkarif100 Gaming I feel that’s a little absolutist and contrary to what Rockstar actually did. First of all If they cared about gameplay over realism they wouldn’t have you oiling your gun or have your horses balls shrivel up. I could understand gameplay over realism if this was Mario, but the developers make it pretty clear that they want some level of realism and immersion. Second I don’t see why they have to be mutually exclusive. You can take great gameplay mechanics from real life inspiration. Look at Mordhau. It adds gameplay depth by using historical inspired techniques and directional attacks instead of simply being a first person slash and hack. Similarly, ammo conservation and counting your shoots infinitely added to the depth of gameplay that you yourself said comes first. As it is now it’s pretty simple cover shooting and lacks particularly deep gunplay.
@@midshipman8654 Suit yourself Mordhau or whatever crap. There less than 1% of gamers want to see extremely realistic gun mechanisms. 90% of gamers never shoot a gun in life and doesn't give a fuck. About the gun oil and cutscenes it doesn't make the in game shooting unpleasant for average gamers. It you have a room for extreme realism without losing the practical aspects of the game than you go for it. If its overall bad for average gamers skill than you make it less realistic. Have a basic common sense.
it seems to magically open on it's own when you reload it, the cartridges are recessed too far into the cylinder, and when you aim down the sights the sight picture is wrong
If this was Battlefield, every bullet would, eventually, drop to some fucking guy at 1899m (see what I did there) who was sleeping on a camp or something.
@Meher Chaithanya An objective fact is an objective fact. You are likely to be aiming on dude after dude, which means you are dead if you make him reload normally on these old model guns.
If it was GTA5, I would have noticed something unnatural about reloading weapons. For example, when reloading a tube box shotgun, in RDR2 you would put in as many bullets as you shot, but in GTA5 you only have to put in one bullet no matter how much you shoot, and the reload is complete.
@@blake1995 It would be technically better. It loads by clips. The krag loads one bullet at a time. It's actually one issue on the list of reasons why the U.S. replaced it with another gun. LOADING BY CLIPS IS FASTER! Haha. They learned this in the Spanish-American war
The attention to detail is one of the many reasons for the game being amazing. The reload speed is for gameplay's sake, but after watching the video in 0.5x speed, I'm even more speechless. Some minor mistakes here and there but nothing worth complaining about.
@@freezy2755I mean yea, these are third person animations just framed in 1st person, the fact that there are details at all when there didnt have to be is neato
This game is 6 years old now but animation quality still looks so good even for a game not made primarily for 1st person view. The way the hands and fingers move looks damn realistic.
Fun fact: The Volcanic pistol used self contained cartridges. There would be no ejected casings. Also, the bullets were so weak that a man shot himself point blank in the head three times and the bullets could not penetrate his skull.
@@blakecacini8016 it’s hard to explain but I’ll try my best. We all know that gun ejects empty shells when shot ,the shell come out from a different side depending on the gun type. Maxim gun empty shells come out in the front bottom under the barrel I hope you understand The maxim gun in red dead redemption 2 empty shells come out in the left side while the real maxim gun the left side is designed to move belt aside you can search on RUclips maxim gun and see where the empty shells come out ruclips.net/video/D1CpLaVfnq8/видео.html
I just noticed how he uses stripper clips with the Mauser pistols. I was so impressed by that! This is one of the few instances where the term "clip", rather than "magazine" is correct. Most of the time when people say "clip" they mean "box magazine", but the Mauser pistol has an internal magazine and is loaded from above similar to a lot of rifles, like some of the SKS's or M1 Garand. The animation is around 6:20 To be precise I know that the En Bloc clips the M1 Garand uses are different from stripper clips like some SKS or M1A's could use (although that has a detachable box magazine; loading with stripper clips from above is just an added option). With the En Bloc clips in the M1 Garand, the clip actually gets inserted into the rifle, and after the last round is fired, the clip is ejected and that makes the ping sound. With stripper clips they never get fully inserted into the gun, but rather they just hold the bullets in a row, and allow you to push them all into the gun and then pull out the clip right then.
Something some people might not have noticed: When Arthur fires the sawn-off shotgun or the double barrel shotgun you can see him move his finger to the other trigger for the second barrel
Breaking that immersion with casings ejecting from the Volcanic pistol. It fired caseless "rocket ball" ammunition with the powder and primer in the base of what was essentially a small Minie Ball. Both the .41 and .31 cal pistols were not very successful due to neither being particularly powerful (as in 56 FPE, the same as a modern air rifle). There was one account of a man trying to kill himself with the .31 cal version. He shot himself seven times in the head before he gave up.
at 0:05 you notice a lump on the side of Arthur's palm, as though it's swollen. this is actually what happens when you punch something hard enough to break that bone in your hand and let it heal over without noticing it's broken. i can definitely see Arthur punching someone hard enough to break both their face and his hand but not noticing the pain in his hand afterward. i'm not sure if this was the designer's intent but it is a very interesting and neat detail!

Vidya games don't need realism.
It needs more gameplay, and that's what Rockstar has achieved. Myriads of realistic details, but gameplay comes first.
@@midshipman8654
Suit yourself Mordhau or whatever crap.

One of the most immersive first person views out there. More games should follow the example.
They shouldn't, it's atrocious.
If it was GTA5, I would have noticed something unnatural about reloading weapons. For example, when reloading a tube box shotgun, in RDR2 you would put in as many bullets as you shot, but in GTA5 you only have to put in one bullet no matter how much you shoot, and the reload is complete.

Fun fact: The Volcanic pistol used self contained cartridges. There would be no ejected casings. Also, the bullets were so weak that a man shot himself point blank in the head three times and the bullets could not penetrate his skull.

The animation is around 6:20
To be precise I know that the En Bloc clips the M1 Garand uses are different from stripper clips like some SKS or M1A's could use (although that has a detachable box magazine; loading with stripper clips from above is just an added option).
Man I can't use the double action, feels to weird, and I end up wasting more ammo then saving cause I'm so use to using single action.
Schofields for life! Algernon's double action is a great combination with the dagger.
Something some people might not have noticed:
When Arthur fires the sawn-off shotgun or the double barrel shotgun you can see him move his finger to the other trigger for the second barrel
I hope there is a mod to make reloads longer, they're insanly short
Breaking that immersion with casings ejecting from the Volcanic pistol. It fired caseless "rocket ball" ammunition with the powder and primer in the base of what was essentially a small Minie Ball. Both the .41 and .31 cal pistols were not very successful due to neither being particularly powerful (as in 56 FPE, the same as a modern air rifle). There was one account of a man trying to kill himself with the .31 cal version. He shot himself seven times in the head before he gave up.
Those are replicas of the Volcanic pistol, not the originals. If you check the gun catalogue in game it will actually mention this.

at 0:05 you notice a lump on the side of Arthur's palm, as though it's swollen. this is actually what happens when you punch something hard enough to break that bone in your hand and let it heal over without noticing it's broken. i can definitely see Arthur punching someone hard enough to break both their face and his hand but not noticing the pain in his hand afterward. i'm not sure if this was the designer's intent but it is a very interesting and neat detail!
You picked the perfect location to do this video, because we can hear the gunshot echoes in the distance.
