    Even with the price reduction that is still $240 per year, for a product that is nowhere near approaching finished. No thanks.

    Still waiting for the day where any ATC software will be somewhat immersive. Tried them all and they all lack the basics, can’t seem to get things right. VATSIM it is for the next couple years still.

    I tried the 24 hour trial and agree with you. It is very good. I got good vectors to the ILS localizer and didn’t have a problems with misunderstanding like I get with BeyondATC. Tried VFR too - also nice. I’m not a pilot and I’m trying virtual ATC until I’m brave enough to use VatSim!

    The delay in response kills the immersion. I don’t own it and won’t own it until it becomes considerably cheaper. Preferably not a subscription. And a quicker response time
    Great and informative video as always

      If the controller could come back initially and say in regards to IFR clearance, "It'll take me a little bit to get it, one moment" and then go through the computation that might make the immersion a bit better while having to wait. I know Vatsim sometimes at a busy airport the clearance controller or who ever is handling clearances will sometimes say that

      I agree with most of your points. The price is still what holds me back. Unfortunately it's still way too much for the state it's in. I doubt it will be possible to get it off subscription based service. However I'm hopeful it will get to the price point of a navigraph subscription.

    I have put in some time with both SI and BATC. They both still need a lot of work as far as core ATC stuff goes. SI has a lot of novelty type stuff with tour guides, cabin announcements, mentor pilot, etc if that is what you are after. For me at the moment, I am preferring BATC for the type flying I do which is all IFR (GA & Airline) as it tends to be more consistent, enjoyable and less frustrating. The "AI" in SI can get very confused at times....ie a readback can be interpreted as a request and you get into a loop. I have also run into issues where you are still on with Center on a 5 mile final, no handoffs, no landing clearance, etc. Takeoff through cruise tends to be OK for the most part. The phase of flight from TOD to landing really needs a lot of work and be more consistent. Changing your STAR (even though you are already on your planned STAR) from what is in your FP is not really that common IRL . SI sometimes decides to reroute you to a STAR that is meant for an arrival from a completely opposite direction. Stuff like that just gets frustrating. I will need to see a lot more progress on core ATC stuff to continue a sub. I think the Dev has too many things he's trying to implement without enough focus on the core ATC functions (IMO). I am not sure how either program can possibly implement AI traffic when the basic structural IFR stuff isn't working very well. Will be interesting to see how both programs mature..

    I've been using Beyhond ATC. There is no delay, except for ATIS, but frequency changes are terrible because BATC doesn't understand what I say. Sometimes approach vectoring works very good, others not. Taxi instructions are complicated, specially in large airports.
    I'll wait to see if BATC improves

    • @johny5400
      @johny5400 3 месяца назад

      BATC understands already basically perfectly now.....but the vectoring is usually bad, and I so far had no chance to have full flight with full ATC coverage the whole time..usually it stops working or at the approach it totally messes everything.

    I was disappointed with this on release. I signed up for another month yesterday. Flight was a bit of a mess. Descent was way too late, vectors were very odd and eventually ATC just stopped working and forgot me until I promted it. That's saying nothing of all the US voices on a flight from Edinburgh to Luton.
    Great idea, but it's months - maybe a year or more - off being reliable for IFR.

  • @q8386
    @q8386 3 месяца назад

    I've tried the 24 hour trail - my view is that it simply isn't long enough. I can't fly for 24 hours - 3 hours is the most I've ever managed in one go, so much of the free time was wasted. I'm still undecided whether I can commit to a monthly sub of close to £20 per month inc conversion costs. I though SI was really really good in the time I had with it. I'd like a bit longer to trial, but as it is, I may pay a one-off fee before committing. I have BATC which is pretty good- but it can't compete with 'real-world' type speech - I get 'can't understand' far too often, so I'll be inclined to ditch it for SI. Excellent video though .

  • @markscars1069
    @markscars1069 3 месяца назад

    I’ve obviously missed the fact this previously offered VFR because that of course is what BATC lacks. I’ve bought BATC and have been happy with it thus far for IFR but will now give SI a go - the lower price and VFR capability is intriguing for my GA flights.

  • @westtx50

    I enjoyed the trial and I think $20/mo is definitely a step in the right direction.
    I would prefer a credit based system where I can purchase a day at a time.
    $20/month and ill be missing out on half of those days because of work. More days if overtime is involved. Other life obligations and so on.
    Some comments are silly. Not everything can be right for all budgets.
    VATSIM is unreliable at best with coverage and trying to make full staff events is reliant on your availability.
    This was enjoyable to just load up and use it anywhere, anytime.

    I am lucky enough to have been using SI since it first became available and the recent progress has been impressive. Initially the descent and approach were poor with little improvement over six weeks or so but in the last two weeks, like you found, the descent, vectoring and establishing runway ILS have been excellent. I enjoy listening to other local users and look forward to interactive traffic.

    I tried the sayintentions demo yesterday. The immersion with the background chatter and the flight attendant speeches were a big hit with me. There are still some drawbacks, such as how aircraft are vectored for an approach (which they do warn you about when they speak to you). In my case flying from Detroit to Atlanta, my STAR to runway 28 called for radar vectors to the approach after the last fix; I was not initially cleared for the approach when I got to the last waypoint in the STAR and ended up flying past the locailzer. More importantly, at least for me, I did not get a "cleared to land" instruction from the tower controller, but was given instructions to vacate the runway after I touched down. Even though it is not perfect, and I don't expect it to be at the moment, sayintentions is the clear leader in my book.

  • @tf51d
    @tf51d 3 месяца назад

    Logistically for me due to medical reasons SI doesn't work for me as voice interaction is not viable in my current situation! That said prototypically that's SI's biggest flaw in philosophy! The developers decision not to add a auto respond function makes it unrealistic when used for airline operations as it's the PNF that would normally be handling ATC not the PF.
