  • At the EARD 2021 conference, Dr. Irina Conboy discusses the rejuvenating effects of plasma dilution in old mice. Dr. Conboy also explains why she believes that the path of rejuvenation is through tissue maintenance and repair, not preventing tissue damage.

    DESCRIPTION
    ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Irina Conboy is Professor of Bioengineering, UC Berkeley, core faculty member and Core Member of UCB/UCSF Graduate Program. A key direction of her laboratory is to understand age-imposed and pathological changes in circulatory milieu and their impact on signaling pathways that regulate tissue maintenance and repair. In the past few years this direction has been ramified to synthetic biology and innovative digital biosensors for diagnostics of age-imposed alterations and for assessing the response to treatments longitudinally, in real time. Overall, success in this research will improve our understanding of the determinants of homeostatic health and will enable novel approaches to treat a number of pathologies that range from tissue degeneration to cancer and include novel ways to avoid and diminish fibrosis, inflammation and metabolic decline. Prof. Conboy received numerous awards for her work in Aging field, including Silicon Valley Foundation Award for clinical translation of aging research, Open Philanthropy Award, Packer endowment for Aging research, Raymond and Beverly Sackler TAU Award, Calico Award, Bridging the Gap, Rogers’ Award, SENS Foundation and Life Extension Foundation, W.M. Keck Foundation Award, Glenn Award for Research in Biological Mechanisms of Aging, Ellison’s Medical Foundation New Scholar in Aging award, and NIH KO1 and National Research Service Awards.
The annual Ending Age-Related Diseases (EARD) conference by Lifespan.io brings together longevity thought leaders together to exchange research reports, inspire and get inspired with new ideas, find collaborators, supporters, and mentors.

2nd law of thermodynamics refers to closed systems, which an organism is not, because it interacts with the environment.

I would love to see a longevity study with this methodology like at Rodolfo Goya's rat study with young blood plasma injections.
At Modern Healthspan it was said that in the Goya study, the results are an average life span extension, but did not give a max lifespan extension. Although the young blood plasma Goya study has a very small sample..
I'm curious to see whether blood dilution also just improves morbidity compression without a max lifespan improvement. I of course hope this also increases the max lifespan, so would love this confirmed in a study!

Hope rejuvenation will become a norm like dentistry for those who actually want to learn, experience and grow and not just waste time while living.

Hopefully better regulated than dentistry. Also Hopefully tooth regeneration becomes a thing so we don't need dentistry as much.

You can donate plasma and get these benefits. And make a little money. I think this is the future of wellness medicine.

The Steve Horvath test in people treated with Dr. Irina Conboy's plasma dilution would confirm the true effect.

Well technically even Steve admits his clock doesn't define aging. It just measures changes that seem to happen from aging. There are many macro effects of aging as well.

Does this research suggest that frequent plasma donations with a return of saline solution will rejuvenate cells in middle-aged/older donors.

What is the next stage, test on dogs? The homeostasis of these systems may not be re-established one by one. Please return with Kiprov study.

I recently saw a presentation by Colin Ewald on the importance of the Extracellular matrix (ECM) in aging. ECM is a huge part of the body and if I understand it, plasma is also ECM. So, wonder if over boarding plasma also helps rejuvenate other ECM in other organs.

So basically, this study proves that proper hydration in the elderly population improves cognitive function. I can accept that.
