  • Christian Glass is terrified. He is lost, scared, and convinced somebody, or something, is trying to hurt him. So, he calls 911.
    When the police arrived, they tried to get him out of the car for over an hour… but the situation escalated.
    What do you think of this case? Was this justified or did the Deputy take it way too far?

    Hi Chris. Thanks for the recap.
    Do I think it was murder? No!
    In my opinion this lacked the element of premeditation. Was it criminally negligent homicide? Absolutely! I can only say, if I were on the scene. I would have insisted that all officers stand well back and wait for Christian to exit the car. If it had taken another hour or 24 hours. They were in no imminent danger.
    This case points up the importance of proper police training, in communication, de-escalation and patience and restraint. In non eminently lethal threat situations.

      Excellent points. But for context I live in a country where there is only a single statute level. There is no murder one or two. There is only murder or manslaughter. Sometimes confused by the notion of diminished responsibility due to insanity. So I totally understand your point of view, and. I totally agree there should be the most stringent penalties for police officers who overstep their authority. Especially if they unnecessarily cause the death of another human being. Personally I think the cop who did the shooting should go to prison but not for murder one. Also there is still a training issue.

    I’m so sad for this young man. He should have been treated with respect and care. He should have been helped, kindly convinced that he was safe. So many things could have been done differently.

    Bless his heart. If he would have called anyone else besides the po lice he may still be alive. They should be ashamed of themselves.

    "Coaxing" someone does not entail yelling at them. Those cops are hostile and scary.

  • @eyesopen66
    @eyesopen66 23 дня назад

    Absolutely shocking behaviour by the officers.
    They completely overreacted and escalated the situation. The poor man was absolutely terrified and they acted like he was a criminal and dangerous. He could of been left to calm down and slowly resolve the matter. But no, a psycho cop fired 5 bullet's into a terrified person who had a pen knife. Disgusting and shameful.

    *_I will never understand how a group of police, all armed & protected, could be “afraid” of someone w/ a knife. A pew always has the upper hand. Unless it’s a sworded ninja or something._* 😳

      @thevolatilitywhisperer7616 25 дней назад +1

      Actually a knife has the upper hand in close quarters. A sword would be the least effective of the 3 in any situation. Look into it.

      @@thevolatilitywhisperer7616 *_Eh, I’m good on looking into it. Obviously the ninja part was sarcastic. Relax. Weapons & having the upper hand could be experience based & situational. But in these type of cases? If u say so, then cool!_* 👍❤️🤓

    Why wouldn't they just let him toss out the "weapons" to begin with. That would have been problem solved,but they literally told him no then made a big deal that he had weapons....just like everything involving the "system" ass backwards

      Great coverage Chris as usual!! I'd also love to see your & Amy's take on the current Houston, TX case with the mother driving erratically whilst dropping off her child at school and the cops finally were forced to arrest her and accidently held her face in a fire ant mound. This mother is now suing in civil court. Jim C.

    tough case. no winners. they spent alot of time trying to coax him out but i don't think they ever shoulda shot him. none of them were ever truly in danger. also i think maybe so many of them there, all strangers to him, didn't help his obvious anxiety and paranoia

    Hi Chris and Amy - love yr channel. in NSW we have mental health crisis teams which can ask cops to attend but to my knowledge not vice versa. I think this is quite a sad case as clearly on the call to emergency you can detect that this young man had mental health issues or ideations. one answer is to have mental health professionals attached to police services or train police in mental health issues - identification, how to engage n treatment options
