Douglas Original Mattress Honest Review: How good can a Canadian-made mattress-in-a-box actually be?

- We bought a Douglas @sleepdouglas mattress-in-a-box with our own money. What is it really like?
Buying a mattress online, that you've never even touched and then it being shipped to your home squished in a box does seem a little odd. But it's becoming more common. Is it a fad? How good can it be? Is it a waste of money? Is it the best thing ever? Has online shopping finally got us to the point that we never have to leave the house? I set out to find those answers!
We buy everything. Mattress, bed frame, pillows, bedding, and mattress cover. We're going for the full experience. We unbox and assemble all our goodies, use it for a month and then give you our honest opinion.
Will we miss our old mattress? Will this change our sleeping lives? Check it out!

Thank you! We still LOVE the mattress. On the weekend, I was finally setting up the previous mattress in our guest room. And I laid on it for the first time since switching. Never going back! It's a world of difference. Thank you and enjoy your new Douglas!!

So glad that you shared this. I will buy this mattress next time I need one. We found buying a mattress a challenge.We bought a new mattress two years ago. The first one we bought was too firm and they allowed us to return it. We then bought a Serta and it is just a little soft so probably won't keep it for the ten year standard. How do you test a mattress by laying on it for five min. in the store???
That was what we said when first thought about ordering a mattress online: what difference is there to sitting on a mattress in a store, or ordering one online? So ordered online and don't regret it one bit! I'd honestly order this mattress again. Our previous mattress was a Serta too - and it was too soft and not supportive. All the best in the new year!
Just ordered this and was worries so checked out this video. I am coming from the bloom earth and it's so incredibly uncomfortable. This video has made me less worried. Looking forward to trying it out
It's been almost a year that we've had the Douglas mattress and we wouldn't change to anything else. It is the best mattress I've ever slept on. I hope you enjoy it a much as we do!
Thanks for the awesome review! I have a question, does the memory foam feel like quicksand? I mean if you shift positions is it hard to do?
We were actually worried about that because when memory foam first came out, it was like quicksand. But, Ralph and I both agree it's easier to move around on this bed then our previous pillow-topper style mattress. And that was a high-end brand name mattress. It's like you float on the Douglas, you don't sink in. Honestly, I couldn't believe a mattress could feel like this.
I have the beauty rest gel perforated pillow. It's thinner, shaped for your head and breathes

Do you have any experience with their podium adjustable bed frame? I am thinking of buying one but with a no return policy I want to be sure its good!

It's been a year now and I can't imagine sleeping on another mattress. I still think it's the most comfortable and supportive mattress. Sweet dreams when your Alpine arrives!
Do you need a box spring with these mattresses? I didn't think it was needed
You are correct - we use one for height because our bed frame is too low. You don't need a box spring.

I git this and so weird I was expecting the sheets and pillows to have the red lines on them and the Douglas logo but it's from good morning America? I'm confused? Are the sheets and pillows not actualy douglas mattress brand? Do you know the answer to this?
I think I can explain. Good Morning is the company, also known as Bon Matin in French speaking parts of Canada. Douglas is the name of the first and most well known mattress they make. It's a Canadian company. The mattress with have the name Douglas on it, but the sheets, mattress pad etc will say Good Morning or Bon Matin. I've seen the Logan & Cove mattress from Good Morning and it says Logan & Cove in grey all over it. 😃
