Problems With A Custom Build | Backyard Oasis Issues and Solutions | Changing Design Styles
This was absolutely awesome! Thank you for sharing this idea. It looks great.
Yeah sorry, looks tacky.
Sorry, I created a miss 🥺 Thanks for sharing your honest opinion though!
@@HomeCulture It's ok, we all learn and improve the more we do, no need to be sorry :) Creativity is something that is always a learning curve, without making misses, we will never go on to make masterpieces :)
@@suzannebrookes5950 So true! If we never try, we never learn!
It looks awful
Really? 🥺 Bummer! Thanks for being honest!
Looks amazing. Just started looking at ideas for redoing my wife's China hutch she inherited from her mom.
Thank you and all the best redoing your hutch now!
For safety reasons, I suggest replacing the chain with a "soft close" hinge. The edges of the heavy top are just waiting to chop some fingers off 😮😢
Thank you - love this idea! The lid definitely has good weight to it!
Very good review, I loved it ❤
Thank you! I still love the mattress. I'd buy it again 100%.
Please use a mask or respirator when sanding! In addition to wood dust being carcinogenic, you don't know how much lead, arsenic, and mold you may be releasing with a fine sandpaper. Protect your lungs!
Thank you! I did get myself a 3M respirator mask, finally. I'm pretty good at wearing it in the garage and for big projects - but I do get lazy when I'm outdoors 😬 I actually love the reminder! It tells me that people are watching and I better behave!!! Thank you!
Your commitment to color is painfully obvious from the decor behind you.
You couldn't be more correct! It sure it a beige world around here!
I always look forward to your videos on Friday. It's a great way to end the week and love the idea of hybermaking! The polar vortex has come and gone from Virginia with several inches of snow but I'm glad it's gone and the temperatures are warming up a little. I must say, my friend, you have a kazillion clamps! 🙃 Love all the projects and that lipstick looks FABULOUS on you! Hope you and Ralph enjoy the weekend! 💜
OMG Liane!!! Thank you for noticing my lipstick! ❤ This winter has really been hitting us hard. Last winter we had to shovel once the entire season - now it's been snowing at least once a day. Might be just flurries, but it's still snow. I'm a sunshine and flipflops gal, so I complain all winter. That's why I turn to crafts!! Chat soon and stay warm!
Thanks, Ana. Your neutral Valentine projects are lovely. The Wayfair dupe is excellent; $48 dollars? Just asking to be duped and very successfully. I like the idea of a quiet Valentine instead of the usual bright red;, tres chic. I’ve been moaning about the cold here, but at least it hasn’t snowed for a while! x
Thank you Mags and yes the subtle Valentine's is mor appealing. Had I thought of this earlier, I may have started with Valentine's decor sooner! It's been miserable for weeks here, cold and damp as well. I just want some sun and to get out in the garden! XOXO
Put a clear masonry sealant on that to keep the algae from penetrating. It should clean up easier next time. Reapply each year.
Thank you! Another viewer suggested we try Wet and Forget and we applied that this summer - we'll see how it looks in the spring. Now we also have a back up plan!
Great Idea! Thank you
Happy to know you liked itl! 😊
Music is SO much louder than your voice. I have to keep adjusting the volume to avoid blowing out my eardrums. Otherwise, great video.
Apologies! We'll be sure to keep that in mind for future videos! 😊
Hi, Ana. How clever of you to get a matching lampshade! The pegboard really looks good in the frame and I’m sure it’ll be very useful. I bought a pegboard some time ago and, although it gets a bit messy from time to time, I find it one of my most useful tools. Hope you are both well. xx
Thanks Mags! I was using the Cricut this weekend and wow! You are right, the peg board is so useful - even more than I expected. So convenient to just grab what I need and then plop it back all tidy. I wish I did this sooner! We're freezing with the full force of the Canadian winter, but we're doing good! Hope you are as well!
This video is 3 years old and I’m hoping the time that has passed will help answer my questions. I use modeling paste and crackle paste in my paintings for texture, and it has been fine because I rarely do anything bigger than 3 foot square. But I’m planning an 8 x 4 foot plywood project and those texture mediums are hella expensive, so I’m considering doing drywall mud… however … my husband is a contractor and he says that shipping a huge piece like that, it’s going to crack and flake and get damaged easily if drywall mud is the medium. He says no way should I charge someone thousands of dollars and ship them a hot mess. So I’m asking if your experience in the last 3 years has been that it’s a stable medium? Or should I use something more “gluey”?
I just walked over to inspect mine. It's been up ever since this video and I've moved it around the room a few times in the 3 years. There are no cracks. I even poked it about 5 times and the canvas just bounced back like canvas does. I didn't lay the mud on heavy. In a few spots you can almost see the canvas beneath. I understand what you husband is saying, but walls stay put right? Maybe? I've never had to ship it but I would think that if it's packaged and padded enough, it should be ok. Test out a smaller version and let it dry to see if you agree with me that it seems to hold up because of the flexing of the canvas. I'm going to snap some pictures of it and post it on our FB page and show you some close ups.
@@HomeCulturethank you for responding! I kinda went down the rabbit hole and learned that adding a little glue to the mud can help it adhere… I really appreciate all the help I can get!!!
@@KellyHilgerRealtor All the best with your project - it sounds like it's going to be a stunner!
Hi, Ana, love the space you have. I use our smallest bedroom; no bed in it and it’s still tiny - but it’s mine! I totally agree that more storage space means more purchases (remember - nature abhors a vacuum)! And I have fallen in love with your sheep; I used to collect various sheep and sheepy things, but it all got out of hand! Thanks for another enjoyable video, note I didn’t say inspirational because I tidied my craft room a couple of weeks ago and, believe or or not, it’s still tidy. Well, tidyish! xx
I adore your philosophy towards crafting! Yes, nature abhors a vacuum, we have no option other than more supplies! My sheep, I really enjoy knitting and crochet, and those are my mascots of sorts. Always keeping me company. I am so impressed that you already tidied! You are ready for a year of crafts and projects! A used craft room can't stay tidy. It's a constant cycle of tidying, doing, messing and re-tidying 😊 Love our chats! XO Ana
What a comfy cozy space! 😊 Could you head over here and help me?! (ha ha 😆) My creative space is a mess. Don't you feel more inspired when things are tidy? I think if I tackled it, I might find some of my projects getting crossed off my list. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. ~Kelly in St. Louis
Hello Kelly! I've never been to St. Louis! I could travel the world organizing rooms - that sounds like a dream job! It's o true, when my room is organized I feel more inspired and seem to have more energy to want to work on projects. Not sure if it's a thing, but when my space in uncluttered, so is my mind. Maybe we're on to something 😉 We're in for a snowy weekend, so I'm staying in a crafting! Enjoy your weekend too! Cheers- Ana
Really nice....I'm spraying an old wicker vase with rustoleum bleached stone..and hey😂....your funny...😊
How did the vase turn out? And thank you - that's very kind of you 😊
Have you tried a product called "Wet and Forget" on your mold. I had mold problems also in certain parts around my home. I sprayed wet and forget and after a few weeks the mold was gone and it hasn't come back yet. Easy peasy no scrubbing and no power washing.
Another commentor mentioned the product and I tried it this past summer. I was very impressed with the results and how easy it was to apply! I've also bought a Ryobi power sprayer for use in spraying this (and other products), and now considering doing a review video on these products.
@@HomeCulture I think should have not rinsed the bleach combo letting it stay for full effect. You might also consider putting a plastic bag over the battery for added protection from moisture/water. Nice video
And what the difference between your wax and the ebony rub n buff. I'm thinking of rubbing n buffing my picture frame
I have ebony Run N Buff - it's much darker and richer. And it's really black. The wax I used is more of an old brown aged look. I 100% recommend the ebony Rub N Buff, it's a much nicer product. Good luck!
What is the function of that black wax as the first layer?
That dark wax is an antiquing wax, it makes the original bright gold more toned down. Layering it with the Rub N Buff gave a more aged, vintage look. It's just and extra step to help create a more authentic looking antique finish. 😀
Hi, Ana. Another transformation! I was sure you would paint the cupboard doors, but the stain looks excellent and seems to lend with all the other changes. I like the counter top and two sinks, very smart.you really do have knack of getting things just right! We have snow here at the moment - nothing like Canadian snow, but it’s icy and stops me going further than the car as I am so frightened of falling over - not so much about breaking anything, just the horror of trying to get up again! I no longer have the strength or flexibility to leap to my feet! Poor old girl!! xx
Hello Mags! Just this afternoon we started to get some 'real Canadian' snow. Everything is covered in white and the snow ploughs have been hitting the roads. Which means tomorrow we're out shoveling. I find staining cabinets is more hardwearing than paint. Paint sometimes can chip, as this is a rental I want it durable. My brother Paul, Ralph and I spent many hours in this kitchen and it was worth it. Can you believe that it cost less than $100 to refinish the cabinets? That left room in the budget for the nice sink and counter! Have a great week and stay safe and stay on your feet! 😊
Hi, Ana. You’ve all worked very hard on that upgrading and the result is great. Some large, some small changes and it looks like a new house! Someone will be lucky to rent it. You introduced a lot of charming touches - but that’s you, of course, I’ve seen it so many times in your own home. Going back to your your recent reply - we did manage to take our Christmas decorations down in two days and I am now very minimalist - for a while! x
Thank you! It was both a substantial amount of effort and an enjoyable time. I didn't know if I had it in me to keep painting those doors - it was 4 coats for ever door, front and back. Which that wasn't the worst part, I had to sand each door before I started. That was a good form of exercise! Minimalist! I'm proud of you because I know the effort that goes into getting to that stage! Best wishes for a wonderful 2025 from us in Canada 🍁❤
looks great! what kind of countertop did you put in the kitchen?
The counters are now quartz -- PS we're just putting the final touches on a in depth kitchen reno video. It will be out in the next couple of weeks 😉
Wow! Quite the transformation!!
Thank you and Happy New Year! This has been a fun and busy project!
Thank you!!
You're welcome! Glad you found this helpful 😊
How often do these bulbs need to charge?
The bulb last 4-6 hours. They haven't been around for long, so I'm hoping that with advances in battery life someone will come out with one that lasts at least half a day! They are a good 'quick' lighting solution for now 😊
Is the cutting mat the same doing with the cut? That it is closing?
Hello! The cutting mat is exactly the same. It works, looks and feels the exact same. When I use them, I can't tell the difference between the Cricut or the Temu unless I look for the Cricut name. I never feel the need to buy the Cricut brand mat again. I hope this helps and Happy New Year!
I have a question and hope you can help: So until I get a backup sump pump, at the very least to prevent any flooding during a power outage should I get the EcoFlow Delta and plug my main sump pump into the EcoFlow and plug the EcoFlow into the main AC power outlet, correct? Does that sound accurate? Please advise. Thank you.
That is exactly how I have my Delta2 set up with the sump pump. To make sure it works like you expect it, from the EcoFlow app, turn on AC for the battery, and in the settings, find "Lab Features", and in there turn on "AC always on". This way when the power comes back after a power outage, the Delta2's AC plugs continue to be active. Hope this helps you out!
I leave all my greens up.
Currently that's sort of happening here - I ordered a tree storage bag and it hasn't come in. So I have my Christmas tree stripped of ornaments still in my family room. The greens are a nice way of staying nicely decorated, but not feeling too Christmas-y. Maybe I'll try that one year, especially the dining room and kitchen. Thank you and Happy New Year!
What a relaxing video about home decor and coziness. Thank you for such content!
Your comment made me smile! Thank you 😊
Hi Ana, great to see you and I love the hair colour! You seemed to do, in a flash, the job I hate - taking down the Christmas decorations. I enjoy putting them up, though I do it slowly these days. But taking down and putting away - oh dear. I think I’ll start tomorrow (29th). Your candle ideas sound good, I realised I had a lot around the house, unused. So I’ll group them and make the place feel cosy! Happy New Year to you and Ralph. Mags x
Thank you for noticing my hair! Ralph said that of course you would have noticed ❤ I've stripped the tree and packed away the ornaments - if I don't it's a task that will linger and haunt me! When I light my group of candles today I'll think of you doing the same! Wishing you and Allen a wonderful 2025 ❤
Hope you and Ralph had a lovely Christmas and am looking forward to seeing your 2025 projects! 💜
Thank you! The holidays have been really nice, lots of family time ❤ Wishing you and yours a wonderful 2025!
Do you need to close the battery compartment? Can you remove the lid and attach bigger batteries? I understand wont be waterproof anymore but bigger battery will give us more time to operate
With the battery compartment open, it still works, but I would not recommend leaving it open. The battery contains lithium, and this element reacts violently with water. I recommend to purchase a second battery and swap them out as needed. I use a 4Ah battery and I find that it lasts for a very long time with the power scrubber.
Hi Ana. Wow, what a wonderful tree; it looks beautiful, as do the decorations in the rest of your house. And that ball-wrapped garland looks as though you’d find it in one of the top London shops - Harrods, Fortnums, Harvey Nichols etc, with an “out of my range” price tag! I am sorry this comment is late; I have been having problems with the internet and although I could watch your video, I could ‘t comment. Anyway, I hope this arrives in time to wish you both a very Happy Christmas. xx🎄
Happy New Year Mags! Now I'm late replying - the holidays have been busy fun around here. Thank you! Harrods! All I have from Harrods is a shopping tote - it is a fancy tote though 😊
Does it stay on after you take down and put it up for the season. Or does it make a mess and get every where like the flocked trees in the store
It's the similar to the flocked, but a finer dust. It stays one pretty well but it still does 'shed'. I'd love a solution that just sticks!
Your home is Simply Elegant 🤍 Wishing you and your Family a Wonderful & the Merriest Christmas 🩶🩶🩶
Thank you Pamela! I wish you and your family the same! Merry Christmas 🎄❤🎄
You have an absolutely gorgeous home, Ana! The ball garland on your buffet is both adorable and elegant at the same time! I have truly enjoyed watching you create the diy’s that you are now decorating with for the holiday season 🎄. Congratulations on 5000 subscribers! Way to go 👏! Have a wonderful holiday season 🥂 Merry Christmas, Heidi
Thank you Heidi! You're one of the original subs - way before 5000!! Thank you! The house is ready for holidays and so am I. Just some wrapping to finish up and then some time getting snacks and desserts ready to take with me because I'm not hosting! 😊 Merry Christmas to you and yours - I hope it's a magical holiday 🎄
So warm and homey Ana. Now all you need is snow outside. Great job on all of your crafts. Your imagination and ingenuity amazes me. Merry Christmas to you and Ralph🥰
Thank you! Thank you! And would you believe it, we have snow! Ok, it's just a dusting, but it's still know! Merry Christmas to you and your family ❤🎄🎄❤
Love them !wow !
Thank you so much! Merry Christmas 🎄🎄
I like how most of your decor is so wintery! You can leave it out and it is acceptable after Christmas 🕯️🌲❄️
You know I love neutral decor! Thank you! Hope you've been having fun with your decorating 🎄
I hate having to hold down the power button the entire time. Is there a way to have it stay on without hold down the power button the entire time? I'm going to return it today if I can't figure a better way.
If you hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds it will stay on without you having to hold it down. Hope this helps!
Restore -A-Finish makes a wax too, have you ever used that or done a video on it ?
It's like you read my mind! I just saw it in the store and was about to buy it but didn't because I was supposed to be Christmas shopping not shopping for myself 😄 I do have project coming up soon where I will be using it!
Love the roses
Thank you! So far there are more people for the roses than against! I guess they are staying! Merry Christmas 🎄
White roses, buds and full. Gray is bland. ❤. Blankets are great for tree skirts. The tree is stunning! Nice work!
Your comment cracked me up because the same day I read the message I was Facetiming with my sister while decorating a room and she said 'It's just so cream and boring.' I know that my style is on the neutral side and I do like getting ideas from comments that challenge me to look at a design differently! Thank you! And Merry Christmas 🎄
The tree turned out amazing, and the roses are so you, unexpected and quirky! You are smart, funny and entertaining! Your videos are fantastic!
Your comment is so kind and wonderful ❤ Thank you so so much! I love the words you picked to describe me and my style. Thank you. And Merry Christmas!! 🎄🎄
I love these trees!❤

Just beautiful Ana. I also love the shape of the tree. The roses? They bring bougie to the next level. Love them!
