Me too had very bad chops and fringe is very bad both sides are different. I cry everyday in the morning and evening. All I heard from the salon is "We are very sorry" try to fix it with the same hairdresser she done even more worse and hair now is to short to do anything with them and my hair is sticking out like am some kind of a mad woman that just chopped her hair by herself. It takes 6 months up to a year to grow this mess now and all they say " We are sorry" this is not fair I think as this damaging someone's confidence, money lose, distress and nothing can be done about it you suffer for some time and they still working and doing causing so many more people this kind of inconvenience. I hope all those practitioners will be shut one day as people will learn how to cut their own hair.

Now that's what all cosmetologist and barber's should have to know and should also be included on their practical test at the state board! Unfortunately to my knowledge it's not . Just your regular 90,180, 45 degree cuts, which you need to know also, but blending the hair from a mistake should be one also! Awesome job!

Cosmetologist leave school learning the basics and thats after 10 months. You cant just become some great stylist from doing yourself. You gotta know the difference between point cutting, slicing etc. Those videos telling people to cut their hair from home in ponytails makes my skin crawl. They leave out what about thick hair or how to soften that line etc. I hope you can get it fixed

Thank you! I used to cut my own hair for 20 yrs because I couldn't find anyone to do it right. It's been over a decade since I did my own hair, ( arthritis) and I got a super short whack job from a small salon yesterday. I figured I'd fix it when I got home. But I just froze when I went to fix it knowing one wrong cut and I'm doomed. This made total sense and I feel confident I can fix it. Thank you SO MUCH

This the exact tutorial I need to help me blend my whacked out choppy layers! I was hoping to find a video showing which direction I should hold my hair & where to cut to get everything to blend (rather than just end up with more blunt chunks), so I'm grateful that you showed exactly those things. Thank you!

I know, me too! My area is the same way (I live in Tennessee) And I'm at the point now where I'm actually considering to save up some money and book a flight to go see her lol. Sounds crazy, but I'm that desperate. I let my hair get pretty long with hopes that a good stylist could give me a professional ✂️after 4 years of bad cuts. So when I went in last week, I told her I wanted the length no shorter than to lay on my shoulders. By the time she finished, one side is half way up my neck and poofy like a mushroom while the other side is about an inch longer with less texture. I don't want to risk going shorter. But this is the worst cut I've ever had, and I don't trust myself. So I'm very frustrated!

I’m a self chopper. Ugh! Living in a small town it’s hard to find a stylist who gets me. Had one and she moved away. She knew my hair so well there was never a bad cut. Thought I found another until she took to fakebook to humiliate self choppers and I get it, but we are humiliated enough when a major mishap happens. Not going to believe it but been self chopping since I could hold a pair of scissors and I’m 60 now. I would be fine to stop if I could only find a gal like you. I have fine brown hair so the mishaps aren’t as noticeable since I’m not blonde and I can curl and spray. I appreciate your page because since I’ve been doing it so long I’m not as bad as many, but still there’s no way to perfect your whole head. Thank you for your ideas and help.

I feel you. I told my hair dresser to cut my bangs diagonally to blend with my hair and get that curtin bangs look, and I emphasized that I don't like them short. They took my bangs and cut it straight, too short. I was shocked. Did they not hear me? I stated clearly that I don't want them straight. And why did they cut it that short? I now can't even fix it myself! Not to mention their horrible work with the rest of my hair. They were supposed to be a "professional". My mom was with me and she kept complementing me to make me feel better about it so I didn't brust on the hair dresser but once I got home I noticed how truly horrible their work was.

I tell them how to keep it from looking butched and they always say oh yes, I did. I thinned it out, so you’re not so thick there. What they really did is just cut it shorter and shorter and shorter on the ends only. How do I explain to the next hairstylist that this is what I want done I want it to look smooth without choppiness.

I got this almost same haircut from Salon Radiance in La Mesa Ca but my hair is super baby fine and thin. I went there with 14" length hair and left with no hair, cut almost this bad. I paid her $150 because I said if she did a good job I would double it. The salon was dark and she curled my hair before showing me. When I got home took the curls out I freaked out! I texted her with pics aking what did you do to my hair??? She sent me a vid of how to curl your hair. I went to super cuts to get it fixed. They did what they could but said the only way to fix it would be letting grow out for a year. I am devastated to say the least. I told her before going there that I had very fine thin hair but a lot of it. It was 30" long until a friend showed me some tape ins she had. We put them in when we took them out all of my hair came out too. It was thin. I had someone come cut it for some extra body and they messed up the sides. Now only 14" length left I asked Salon Radiance if they could fix it as it was very important to me. They assured me they could but they destroyed my hair!

Hey, sometimes some of us get an idea and run with it. After all, it's only hair. 😊 I am also blessed with hair texture that can hide a lot.
I have taken scissors to my own hair many times. I think I've only felt the need to go into a salon to have it fixed once. That time I knew I had messed up as soon as the scissors snapped closed. The lady I went to laughed at me. I don't think I have been back to that particular salon since.
If you come to be known as the place to go to have bad haircuts fixed, whether self-inflicted or otherwise, you are golden.

You might think these layers are dramatic, but I did layers in my hair two different ways. The first way I did it was weeks ago and it looked nice. But I wanted to try a different technique and I fcked up, badly! My hair reminds me of emo hair from back in the day with crazy choppy layers especially at the top. My god. I hope I can fix this.

I cut my hair a few days ago. Very bad hair cut on my straight hair I have chops like that all over and my fringe bangs are different and both wants to lay different even when I try to style the same way one shorter and finer than the other side.

Gosh, I wish I could find a stylist like you in my area. You do a beautiful Job ! My Mom was a Pro stylist, (She is 90 now) and always cut my hair dry, & Point cut, then the Razor or the thinning shears. I can not find a stylist that will cut my hair dry!! I have Baby Fine, Stick Straight & allot of elasticity . I do have a fair amount of hair. I always end up with BLUNT layers. It has been 15 yrs now since I have had a well blended hair cut like you just did in this Video! ❣

my haircut is almost similar to the hair of the mannequin. :< I have a long hair and I requested for long layers for more volume but the hair stylist or should I say 'hair butcher' did to my hair is a blunt cut all around my head. :< it looks so bad. I'm gonna try to have it fixed, but I'm having trust issues.

Uhhh- I have a “chunk” on one side. It reminds me of when my bang grew out a couple years ago. Why do they say they’re “really good” w- layers, yet we wind up w- cuts like this one?☝️😳 If only YOU were in my area….I’d book an appointment SO fast!

What's the protocol when we get a bad haircut after paying $100? Is it a total loss or can we ask them to fix it? I'm nervous for her to recut...my hair is getting shorter and shorter

As a stylist, I would rather hear from a client to fix/make happy. I understand not all bad services, that someone wants to go back to the stylist...but in my career most stylists have been open to feedback. As long as it's within a week/two weeks they are happy to help right what a client feels is wrong or the stylists mistake.

Great question! You would probably need to bring up the length some, but you can always start out trying to blend and then see how much length would need to be removed. Might just have to do a video!
