New subber here..I am originally from Senaca county, Ohio and moved with parents to mid Northern Michigan at 17 and love the summer and fall there. I am retired and spend 6 months a year in Phillies. I do live with my fiance in Angeles city about 15 minutes from Marquee Mall when I am there. It's a crazy place to drive, but a lot of nice people and there are some are scammers..but u learn quickly. I did get sadly, pick pocketed my first two weeks there. But now , I avoid bringing much money and try to wear shorts with zipper pockets..a lot of people wear a shoulder bag. It can be a nice place to go to the maket and Clark is a plus for easier air travel. Good luck fellow Ohioan!
I'm originally from the Richmond, Indiana area. Been following you since the beginning. I'm planning on the big move in 2 years narrowing my list down to Cebu, Dumaguete, Quezon City. Thanks for the content.
avoid the cities there's really not much to see. probably taguig(bgc specifically) if you don't mind the traffic but once inside bgc it's a very relaxing place despite being heavily urbanized. kinda hard to navigate NCR for first timers since it's basically a group of cities clumped together. my recommendation for first timers are batanes islands ilocos both north and south. try their jerky and wine it's really good and cheap. baguio if you don't mind the crowd and your typical hipster craft beer. palawan island bohol island great dining experience and their traditional spanish musicians. great beaches as well and not crowded like puerto princessa or boracay.
Enjoying the ride (videos). Re: price at Ollie's. Now go to the Red Robin on 75 south of 70, order two cheeseburgers, Fries and four (4) beers. Tell us all about the bill at Red Robin. Don't forget the 20% tip in the US... -Dave in Cincinnati. p.s. Seems like many Ph vloggers have had issues with visitors just "showing up" at their houses. Always be sure to never video right outside your house and especially the driveway or street out front. Never make it easy for people to pinpoint your location.
He stay in our house in we don't let someone scam him we treat jhone our family so we need to protect him because we love him beside he is a very kind person that's why we like him godbless👍🙏
Thanks for the video John! My Filipina wife and I will be retiring near you in Angeles City near Hensonville area is where we are looking. Near Clark. Have you received an electric bill yet? Or are you tied in with the main house and just pay them? I'm just curious how much electricity is there. Take care!
We just received the electric bill today, all 3 houses are on the same meter, the bill was 22,000 PHP which was around $380 which is up, most likely due to me being added and the main house just had an aircon unit put in and running.
@BuckeyestoBananas ok. Thanks! So yours was probably 60 to 80 bucks if I had to guess. Not being a full house. Even a hundred is not too bad. All depends on the use of the AC.
Nice fresh channel, you seem like a nice guy, down to earth, look forward to your ventures...one thing no Philippine expat channel has covered that I have seen so far is BANKING...finance...how do you keep your funds, in the USA? In some asian or Filipino bank? How do expats keep safe control of their funds...are Philippine banks safe and do you use them? Any difficulty with brokerage accounts or social security? Safety and access are the keywords. You know, just wondering how expats structure their assets to be safe but yet easily accessible where you are now?? Hope this question is clear. Love what you're doing, especially detailing exactly what you are paying for things I see expats often complain the food is subpar to other asian countries like vietnam for example....Off to a good start!
Thanks for the heads up for banking, so far some things have been difficult getting started, I will definitely touch on that topic. Thanks so much for watching!
@@BuckeyestoBananas yeah, you're welcome...I didnt word my question very well, basically asking how, in a general sense not your private details, How expats control their money? Where they keep it? How they pay bills? The thing is, the whole western financial system/USD is collapsing and advisors say get your money out of the banks...which presents a big problem for expats who might need to keep all their money in a bank for access while living in the Philippines...like people in the states that are getting out of banks are buying real estate, gold, silver, hard assets...this appears to present a problem for expats, no????? Cant wait for your next vid, you are presenting a very fresh new take on the expat life!!!!
God Bless braddah! Love the humbleness and down to earth vibes. You will do very well in the Philippines. Keep it up and look forward to future content. I heard you mention San Isidro...how do you like the area?
So far so good, the people here are extremely friendly and kind which is part of the reason I came here! Thanks for the kind comments and please keep watching!
I was born and raised in Youngstown Ohio retired June 2023 been here with my wife ever since we live in Negros Oriental bought 1,000sqm property having a native house built on it so we can move in and work on our permanent house we do not need a building permit to do this that's what's convenient enjoy your retirement here it's worth it usa is out of control and only gonna get worse I am a retired vet I love my country but I hate my government instead of the White House it should be called the greed house it's so funny a lot of these politicians go in there like you and i were making normal money but in two year term come out multi millionaires you tell me how I do they're all bought
Fellow Buckeye from Akron / Canton, I wish you the best of luck there. I'm a machinist as well, running a CNC Haas mill. I'm going to keep watching, planning my first visit in November to PH. I just turned 62 and really thinking about retiring, maybe make Phil a retirement destination.
Hello Fellow Buckeye! I ran HAAS DT1, VF3SS and VF4SS Mills. The First thing is , don't let any of the negative videos sway you, do like you said and visit in November and see for yourself, the Philippine people are outstanding!
@BuckeyestoBananas VF4 for me right now. I do get Bridgeport time as well. Can't say I've did alot of CNC lathe but I have manual lathe. I'm much more comfortable on mills.
the general consensus is be sure to do a decent visit of at least 4 months to get the feel of the place, plus the "honey moon" phase of all the newness wears out and you know more if it works for you or not. Many a story of westerners retiring here, only to find out they really dont like it and then have to figure out where else to live (go back home, or pick another country like Thailand, or Costa Rica for example.
I live in Athens, OH and have thought about visiting the Philippines. Wishing you well on your journey and looking to watching future videos on your channel.
Hello I went to mcdonalds and pizza hut the food looks way more fresh and tastes way better. The coke and sprite tasted so much better it felt weird. It made me want to drink sodas more when i was there
Hey John, just wanted to say I enjoyed the background story. I can completely relate to the mind set! planning the move this year with the wife, she’s from Pasay City. Family in Pampanga too. Early retirement at 58. For me. Enjoy the simple life and power on 👍✌🏻🇵🇭
For some reason your channel came across my feeds a while back. What drew me to it was the fact you are from Dayton. I lived there all my life. I left in 2015. I live in Florida now. I studied the Philippines just before the pandemic started After a lot of research and watching sugar coated videos I decided I didn't want any part of it. I don't care what anybody says the number one reason guys gravitate to there is the young chicks. It's not enough trade off for me to accept all the confusion and chaos. I will say this ... If I had a choice between Dayton Ohio the arm pit of the Midwest and the Philippines I would choose the Philippines. Dayton is a real shit hole in my opinion. I realized it even more after I moved to Florida. I put up with crazy women but I prefer to be single as the women have really declined in the US. Good luck on your journey and don't get scammed.

Dayton has changed so much, when I was a kid it wasn't bad, I went through my old neighborhood last year and it looked like a war zone!
put this on double speed still to slow ...
