    I like that when you had your graph up there was a zombie falling in slow motion. Great production there!

    So glad I found your channel! I love base building and weird horde base designs in particular, not many channels focus so closely on this aspect of the game. That last piece of info about spike trap damage was very useful indeed as I was about to add them to my horde base tower, you saved me a lot of iron! Many thanks, Im subbed.

      Welcome @NannyOggins! Base building is definitely my focus, trying out as many weird and wonderful bases as I can, and every now and then trying to make them practical as well 😜 the spike trap one is something that a lot of players don't know I suspect, especially since it is counter intuitive, you'd think dropping zombies onto metal spikes should get bonus damage!

    Answers to questions I never thought to ask. Good Video! The Hay Bales damage was surprising, though even for a player they are/were only effective for a fall of so many blocks. It would be Interesting to see how much damage a player would take from those heights. Time for you to take one for the team and jump yourself😂

    i remember someone saying in an old alpha drawbridges would launch zombies miles away... i wonder does that still work? can you get zombies to fall onto drawbridges and have them set off a trigger that flings them miles away? if the damage taken from falling is maxed at 1/3 is there a way to make zombies take 3 falls in quick succession? make them walk up a thing that is 210 blocks high if maxed damage is at 70 blocks... that forces them to fall into a small area where all they can do is jump down another 2 lots of 70 blocks falling to be able to get down to the stairs back up again?

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  2 года назад

      Not sure about drawbridge catapults - but I'll look into that, sounds awesome if it's still a thing! Multi-fall bases are in theory possible, it's just a matter of making them work!

      @@CautiousPancake i guess all it would take would be to have a 3 block thick wall under/between the way up and the gap you leave with those triangle blocks and you... but have the 3 thick wall tiered to 70 high 140 high and 210 high? although if they were next to each other then zombies might just attack the wall behind them rather than jump off again?? or might jump off sideways? i dunno it could be complicated to design it to work perfectly... or you could make it so after each drop they land on a platform that has a new jump they try to make to some stairs up to you... but they think they can make it & they cant & fall.. what annoys me is you dont get xp for them dying thru using the environment ie ur genius... u'd think you should be rewarded for using ur brain not penalised.. i also fin it annoying that i dont get xp for making concrete blocks & placing them..

    I found this video interesting and informative, obviously I am biased as I am playing 7 days to die (the subject matter of your video) and was hoping to build a horde base using fall damage to kill zombies.
    Devs seem to not want us to have an easy time of that thus have made it capped at 1/3

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  2 года назад

      Yeah the old pit bases are no longer a thing, you can use it to get the damage started on the zombies, but using fall damage alone isn't really a thing anymore.

    hey have you noticed anything weird about screamers lately? i was down in my bedrock mine mining... and i heard a screamer... i put a small concrete base above my mines... i was quite far from the base cos i dig sideways along.. and eventually get far away so that i can escape the zombies and come up at the base with no zombies there... so as she started screaming i did my usual thing of running along the tunnel & coming up to my base at the surface... but weirdly i kept hearing a screamer screaming as if she were directly above me.. this didnt make sense.. they usually stay where i was mining cos often they are dug down in the ground a bit and also they generally cant run as fast as me anyway so i dont get how theyd catch up with me... then... i came out & got on my motorbike (with the extra speed mod) & drove away full speed to my other base a bit further along... strangely i heard yet another scream from the screamer as if it were directly behind me... as i got to the other base.. tons of zombies started to come in from the screamer scream.. YET i could see no screamer anywhere.. its almost as if the devs have made a scream to happen near you whereever you are with or without an actual screamer being present.. and then zombies spawning in on ur location.. cos also.. recently twice i had zombies suddenly attack me INSIDE my bedrock mine... and i dont know how they got in... i thought theyd dug thru but cannot find any holes.. the only other thing i can think is so many zombies in a small hole they glitched thru the world and fell down to where i was.. but anyway... do you know of any updates that change the screamer mechanics? thanks

    So basically I'd still need to build around 150 blocks high if I want to maximize fall damage on everything with a bedrock base. A fall damage loop would be a great AFK base defense, rather than a massive construction/quarrying project, but I'd still be trading EXP for that. The best way would probably be your AFK base design coupled with some electric traps to at least get some EXP and to minimize the ammo/explosives required. Hmm, choices choices.
    Thanks for the video!

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  2 года назад +1

      Yeah you need a massive fall if you want a 33% max damage fall on all zombies, but it's questionable for the radiated's since they will heal it up if you're not immediately hitting them with some more damage. Exp gain is definitely a consideration if you're using fall damage in a base design. It can be a good way to bring down their health a bit at least! Thanks for watching!

  • @tigrecito48
    @tigrecito48 2 года назад +1

    hey... i was thinking.. if zombies take 1/3 damage from a fall... and i was saying that if you make them fall 3 times it would kill them.. but really you dont want to do that cos you dont get xp.. so the ideal base would make zombies fall twice and then be NEAR DEATH as they get to you so you can shoot or electrify them or trap them to get the xp.. so what i was thinking... make a floating base low down but so they cant get to it or damage it in any way say at a height of 10 blocks... have a stair case that goes 100 high, which drops them down 70 to 30 high where they go up another stairs up to 80 high that drops them down to where you are on a platform 10 high... theyve then taken 2/3 damage. you then electrify them as they approach your location to hold them still where you can finish them off easily...

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  2 года назад

      Yeah, I feel like there's a design somewhere for a fall trap base, that's what I had originally planned for after this video on fall dmg, but I got distracted with the zombie blender vid :) I'm also still to come up with a fall trap base design that I'm happy with, have a few ideas waiting for testing!

    • @stevdor6146
      @stevdor6146 2 года назад

      not sure if you can get them to path up to y=100 if you are sitting at y=10, they might just congregate underneath your floating platform and not take the stairs if the pathing is too complicated. Plus after the first drop they will go temporarily into "destroy everything" mode and will probably break the pathing. Plus for a radiated, a drop of 70 is going to be more like 10% instead of 33% (need closer to 200 blocks to get a rad to lose 33%), so you will still have rads with 80% health (and regenerating)

      @@stevdor6146 one of the problems with path and getting zombies to go one way and then go another is ive noticed they dont do it straight away.. even in pois etc.. they quite often seem to be set to ur initial location and they run straight past you and only recalculate once they get there...

    3:25 its weird you say that bikers have less health cos in my opinion based only on experience playing rather than testing and the fact im on insane mode... id say the biker scares me the most in the game out of any zombie other than demos maybe... especially ferals & irradiated ones... in my opinion, mostly using bows & clubs id say the biker seems to take longest to kill and generally therefore does more damage to me... out of all zombies its the one that kills me most often.. i always assumed they had the most hp.. the only thing i can think is that they have damage reduction like armour based on their helmets... which is why there is AP ammo in the game.. i just assumed also that they have more hp... on average bikers take far more hits of my club than lumberjacks do for killing... if i see an irradiated biker im more likely to run away and jump on something and shoot them.. also stealth attacks to head almost never kill them and ive maxed out my stealth & bow skills & use steel arrows.. whereas i nearly always kill all other zombies with headshots apart from cops
