Looks like building what I call a pit base is pointless deep falls won't kill zombies and I'm not digging all the way down to the bedrock to see if that kills zombies or not.

Good info. I always use pick axes and usually put 3 points into Miner 69er and 3 into Mother lode.... So I'll refrain wasting those two point in Mother lode now. Early game is when you really need to optimize your time, money and resources. Especially base building.

Hello Mr Pancake, Do you think, it is possible to make extra menus to select what mission we want? Exemple: - Do you have any mission ? => Tiers selection ==> Mission type ===> *Generate four mission*
where is demolisher?
Dunno if this was changed in 1.1 but my loot bags seem to last indefinitely, even after starting a quest in a POI
I've always used the one at 2:43 only thing is (Very important) try to tuck yourself into the gap between the piller and block on the left as much as you can, I works great most of the time, sometimes you need to try again but it's much faster than messing with the celler door and seems the most dependable elevator to me, even though it doesnt work without fail as it used to.
How does explosions locations work? Is it random or they are made to occur near you?
They are somewhat based around you, but also with a lot of randomness thrown in - the higher tier poi's have more random distance added since they are bigger. There's unfortunately no way to find the middle of a poi and distribute them around that, so I've had to use the player as the anchor, until the satchel is collected, then the position of the satchel takes over for the final barrage.
If satchel can’t be destroyed. Couldn’t you start quest let everything blow up then grab it after it’s all demoed?
You could do that yes, but it won't stop blowing things up until you get it, so you'd then have to build your own bridge to get it, while the explosions destroy your bridge 😄

I like the idea, but it could be better. I think it feels too much like a normal fetch quest, because he mechanic of speedrunning the quest overlaps with the way most people do fetch quest in general, since people already try to get the satchel as quick as possible and leave, and avoid interacting with as much of the POI as they can. It would be better if you had to get more satchels, or something else that forced you to stay in the POI for longer. But avoiding explosions will always sound fun, so making this can't be a bad idea.
Thanks Madezio2 - I definitely had / have other ideas on the fetch quest side of things - but so far I've not been able to implement them successfully - it's the constant trade off on what the xml functions will allow (and my limited skill as a modder) vs the ideas themselves! So I completely agree with you that this is pretty similar to the original.

This is so cool! I agree with some of the other commenters about how the rewards in vanilla pretty much suck. What if we could choose two rewards plus the double dukes for these quests? Or select one reward plus something from the trader's inventory that has an appropriate price cap for the tier or the same value as the dukes reward, lower value for lower tier quests etc. I think Tier I double dukes and one quest reward is good the way it is, those are generally pretty easy with minimal exposure to zombies and/or artillery. At this point I don't think these quests should be like Infestations with no Tier I POI's. How soon after it's "destroyed" does the satchel respawn? Pro tip: don't select this type of quest for a POI you plan to set up a base in!
Agree on your pro tip, even trying to be quick it's usually trashed afterwards 🤣. The satchel respawn is almost instant, the only weird part is that it will float, it doesn't need structural support. And thanks for the thoughts on the rewards!
Great idea! For those of us that take our time and loot while we go through the POIs, this would force us to change our play style. I love it!

@@tpeel6309 I don't think you can actually take your time lol. Between getting hit yourself and the eventually screamer plus the destroyed loot, this doesn't seem to fit a "take your time" play style.
@dond2377 That's what I mean! This would have me panicked from the second I start the quest! That would be fun, for me anyway. I'm so used to playing a slower more methodical way and this would force me out of my "comfort zone". Fun is all I can think of at the moment!
Sounds like fun, but i have one suggestion for the end. Why not make it a dash bevor a massiv barrage. Start a hidden counter at the moment you pick up the quest item, like 20 sec, +5 per tier up, then give a hornalarm for 5 sec (like make one invisible loutspeaker above the POI) or the other way around first horn than counter and than a massiv wave of explotions, more or less all the same time with maybe 0.5 to 1 sec delay. Make the number of explotions debendable on the sice of the POI like Lenth / 15 x Width / 15 runded up or so, lore wise: "the Military is attracting the Zombies and then is finishing them off" or so, would creat a nice Firework und the player knows when its over
Sounds like a really exciting mission type. My only suggestion is to do an audio warning instead of a warning circle. ie you can hear the incoming artillery and the whistling is louder if you’re in the impact area
Unless the sound it already in the game, this would not longer make it XML only.
I love it! The only "wish list" thing I would add is the whistling noise you hear from a mortar shell falling. I think that would add some immersion to this quest.
only problem with that is I don't think the game already has said sound, so it would not longer be XML only modlet.

I really like this idea - I don't know if I'm up for it but I'll try! Taking into account @bobdoenz 's comment - I'll disconnect it perhaps from every explosion so that it doesn't get too noisy, maybe every second one or something, I'll see if I can get it to work then see if it gets super annoying or not :D

I miss the previous RPG mechanics to the character Stats/Skills that we used to have in this game, before it stopped becoming a fight against the zombies and became a direct fight against the developers' metagamey nonsense. The only thing that's gotten better about this game is the modeling and textures. Everything else has been reduced to gimmicky trash.

It's a great idea and I hope you push on with it. There was a screamer in that T3, so does that mean that the explosions add to the heat map? If so, then T4 & T5 quests are going to be almost impossible with the increased explosions. Also, do you plan to have an AOE damage mechanic for the explosions? There is kinetic damage, obviously, from falling debris but it didn't look as if there was blast damage. As for rewards, some extra loot would be useful as the traders rewards now are garbage, lol.
Hey PJF thanks for the feedback! Yes the explosions add to the heat map - so you'll likely get a screamer spawn, but the cooldown should then stop more - I'd expect to see 1 (or if you're unluckly 2 screamers from a single event) spawn per quest, but given the speed at which you will need to run the quest it should be possible to get in and out before they do too much (at least I hope that's how it plays out). The explosions do have damage - range of 6 blocks from the location of the kaboom. There were a few spots where I took damage from the explosions - it's possible I've turned it down too far, but I didn't want it to be insta-death (I tried that and it wasn't fun).

I like the idea. Maybe you could do something to show the shells coming in? Like have grenades appear and arc towards the buildings.
Unfortunately I don't think so - I tried changing the appearance of the object that's doing the explosion, but it didn't like it (or I didn't know how to do it right). It would have been good though!
Nice Mod! I love the setting, you come up with 😊I think T1 is absolutly ok for it’s only fetch and the reward in Dukes is double. Most runs you will just dig through a wall or nerdpole up to the roof to fetch the stash. Compared to T2 fetch and clear this one seems the faster and easier option. Looking forward to give it a try

I like the idea, but the rewards arent there for this. while you have doubled the duke reward, noticing that the loot from the POI is destroyed IMO negates any positive as even those who speed run fetch quests still typically grab chest loot, and especially early on in a playthrough/quest tier losing that loot for an additional 100 dukes isnt equivalent as that loot is definitely worth more and has more value.
Agreed, maybe 2 satchels, perhaps more in later tiers. And each one acts as a end of dungeon lootbag, with a Quest satchel in there as well. These ones in particular should stack since you need multiple. That way a lot of good loot is concentrated in small areas you can speedrun to. That may also balance out the screamers it spawns without needing to adjust the heat it creates.
That sounds awesome! Can't wait to play it... I play MP but there are only 2 of us so twice as many booms would just make it more fun... I can see it going bad fast, but that just makes it more fun :P
