Great review, I’m convinced. As a commercial electrician I think this is going to make my job a lot easier especially while running EMT.
Thanks, glad it was helpful!
Good, very useful feedback. First, apparently there's too much diffusion in sunlight for the laser to be visible, although sunlight may've impacted the visibility of the laser against the blue target.
Second, seemingly minor, some have commented online that the laser shoots ONLY from the base of the unit and not from the top (front). I.e. according to those comments, there were no options to choose which end of the laser to shoot from so, again, very useful feedback regarding that spec prior to purchasing.
Thanks for commenting. I'm not sure if I mentioned that it will take measurements from the top, bottom, or middle. Just not the front.
Is the laser beam parallel with the back of the device? I ordered a different laser measuring tool and found the beam was aimed higher than the back of the device. I was thinking if I placed the device on a wall, against a door casing that the beam would hit the next door casing down the hall. And yes, the walls are straight. But instead the beam goes flying off down the hall so that I would have to tilt the tool to get the beam to hit the next door casing.
Great video Mark! How would you measure the exterior of a building since there is no wall to hit? do you set one of those yellow targets at the end of each wall?
Very good question. Sadly its been 4 years and noone replied to your question.
That is a sweet tool!...Any reason you don't talk about suggested retail on the products you show?...Just curious.
Thanks, Bosch did a great job with this one, especially because it's easy to use and accurate. I figured the link I provide would show the up to date pricing. I'm not opposed to mentioning the price in my video though.
I use it as an appraiser and it works pretty good. Mostly for outside measurements to obtain gross living area (GLA). Occasionally still need to pull out the old school tape measure.
It's very handy, that's for sure. I still keep my tape measures around too.
Hi I'm having a new house built that will be finished in about two more months. Can you use this inside a cabinet to get the measurements of the cabinet to install plexiglass on the cabinet floor?
Sure, it's very versatile for getting measurements.
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
What's the most common item you would use a laser measure for?
I use it daily to measure width, projection, and height for awnings to generate recover proposals. Great little tool specially when measuring alone.
Would this work ok measuring from the ground to the overhang of a roofline in the daytime? I install Radon systems and was curious if it would work well, I dont really need to see the laser as the only thing to hit is the overhang and nothing else. Thanks in advance!
I tried it out today and to answer your question, yes, I was able to see a red dot on the overhang, no problem. I was close to 10' away.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks very much for testing it! Very much appreciated sir
How do you change it from feet to inches
Press and hold the function button and it will take you to another set of menus. There you'll see some options for measurements.
Is it useable as a tool to measure carpet bowling balls ie. to determine closest to the pin. This would require accurate measurements of less than 6 inches.
This will easily do that. It's very accurate.
does this thing also measure in Metrics (meters/cm)??
Same question
@@francoco17 any answer regarding the question?
Can we use this in day time???
It's intended for indoor use, actually. There's some red laser enhancement glasses that might help if your tried it outdoors. I would just wait till dusk , which works well.
One question, does the measurement include the tool itself or from the laser output?
You can toggle the setting to take measurements from either end of the laser. It's very easy to use.
does the glm-42 measure angles?
Yes, it has an inclinometer.
Are there lasers that can be pointed at one point, then pointed at another point, then giving you a measurement?🙂
Yes, there's several modes for indirect measurements.
Thanks
@@MarkThomasBuilder but you never show it on the video?
Can you set desired fraction. I want to adjust from 1/8" from 1/32".
I'm not sure if it gets down to 1/32. That's a pretty small fraction for a laser measure. I'm reviewing another one and will look into how small the fraction gets.
markthomasbuilder thanks for the reply. I need to measure in 1/8" increments
Is it metric? Or both English and metric?
It's both. You can change it in the settings.
The floppy disc icon for save doesn't age well. 😂
😁👍
It has changer
It runs off 2-AAA batteries.
