You're the only one who actually took the tool and USED it. BOO to the unboxers! >_> Yay for guys like you! :) Cheers. All I'd like to do is get a tradesmen or one for every trade that reviews this if they've used 'em. I'm sure they have....
Only thing that has me a little hesitant of getting the Bosch GLM400CL is the integrated battery. All is good when it works but when it eventually fails you're then stuck trying to find a replacement & I am not even sure if the battery is end user replaceable. I like the camera feature and think it would be very useful but I may lean towards getting the Bosch GLM400C instead to replace my Bosch GLM 50C.
Thank you for the overview. I bought the GLM400 to use for landscape construction estimates and its amazing for material calculations and quick accurate measurements. I did run out a steel tape and test at different measurements from 0-200' and it is in fact accurate to a fraction of an inch. I would agree that the tripod is required to measure over 200'. Less than that; as long as you have a visible target it is not a problem to hand hold.
Thanks Sparky, wish you the best... going to demo one soon... nice demo. Smart measure is with the Lieca, it does calculations of distance using angles.
Would this work for laying out the corners of a building before construction? If I drive my stakes in, then have someone hold a level on the edge of the stake and shoot the laser at the side of the level to check distance.
Awesome detailed information. I am curious, can this device be connected to a computer to download the images? I saw and Bosch website that the images are to large to transfer wireless so can this be done with the included cable? Thank you
I have made the decision to purchase the device even after talking to a customer service rep at Bosch. Rep told me “no, sorry but you will not be able to retrieve images or screenshots “. So here is what you do. You connect the device via charging cable to your computer and you can see it act like a simple USB memory stick. Double click the device and you will find a file folder label “Images “ easy and simple.
the part i am having an issue understanding is how can it be accurate when on a tripod, when tilt or swivel there is no part of the tool that stays in one point in space and tilts on that point. the entire unit moves and or forward.
you should be able to set the reading to the middle (tripod thread) mode. I am having a bear of a time getting pythagorean theorum results from these types of measurement devices, but the bosch does have the tripod socket, which should be fine for your problem.
Great Tool Thank You For Sharing⚡️ I Own BLAZE GLM165-27c They Have The New One With Green Blazer And With A Rechargeable Batteries Option. Have A Great Day 😉👍🏽
So I am looking for something to measure the distance to an outfield fence, for playing baseball...would this work? I would need it to typically measure 250' to 300' feet (but would be fun to measure beyond that to compare to major league field dimensions even though I can't really hit the ball further than that) ...the accuracy is not critical, just hoping for maybe within one foot of accuracy. Do I need a tripod? I don't want to carry one around when playing baseball. Can I use this for the purpose of baseball fences? Like just take it with me when I'm hitting baseballs and point it at a fence to quickly see how far the fence is. Thanks.
Thanks to give me a prove about measurable distance in a sunny day. Im archery referee an I planing to use it for checking the target distance before competition ;-)

My viewers can unbox items by themselves. I try to get right to the features and what it can do. Thanks!
That's what a review is supposed to be. Many thanks for a great video.
Thanks so much!

Great to hear! Thanks John!
Big Thank you, I wasted a lot of time (watching dump videos) until I get here.. 🤘🏻
It is a damned shame that BOSCH has not chosen to update this device with a 'Green' beam laser that would be much more effective outdoors.
Thanks Sparky, wish you the best... going to demo one soon... nice demo.

Nice!
This video shows exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so much for posting.

Is there a model that can take an elevation from a certain point. I'm in landscaping and need this to take elevations around a building.
Is there any key combination to change reference from rear to front and back quickly?
Can you connect the bluetooth without the app?

What kind of tripod can I use for this?
I bought this for measuring limb height on trees. The crosshairs disappear when pointed upward. How do I resolve that?
can it measure between points?

It just measures distance so if you have it on a tripod, you'll get a steady reading.

HI, is it possible to measure a window from the ground floor, i.e 2nd floor window Thanks
I need to measure the perimeter of buildings. It appears this will easily and quickly do that for me. Correct? Thanks
That is correct. It's made for using outside.
