    Great video ! One question my GLM 50 C is not showing annotation in function mode , like when you scroll in all the option , no title show whatsoever (ex : lengh , memory , etc..)

      you may have something wrong with your device. when i hit the function button on mine it says at the top of the screen what type of measuring it is set to. when looking through the settings i see no where to turn that on and off.

    I've got one of these. I never measure my just holding it in my hand. When you measure that way, your body movement will corrupt the measurement. Even if you place it on a hard surface, changing its facing by turning the tool can ruin the measurement. I only use mine with a tripod. That's why they put the attachment screw on the underside. This is a tool that doesn't like to be handheld.

    I am planning to returning my device I have purchased. This is a very good and powerful tool but I just don't want the reading picks up 1/32s. I wish it would limit to 1/16ths

      @@tooltipswithtommy I agree. It's only accurate to 1/16 the why do I have to deal with mental calculations of 13/32's. That part is a pain for sure. Other than that it is a great tool

    Can this be used in open daylight ? Also can it be used for setting out measurements?

    • @tooltipswithtommy
      @tooltipswithtommy  3 года назад

      Unfortunately, it's hard to see the laser in daylight. You may want to check out the glm400, it has a camera, which can make it more useful in daylight. It has a stake out function. If that's what you're looking for.

      I just saw that bosch will release a new range finder with a green laser, that will be much easier to see outside. GLM50-27CG

    I bought this because I am an architect and also real estate appraiser. I am now thinking that I bought the wrong item as it does not have a type of measurement that’s called Pythagorean (my Stanley laser had). In order to get that measurement using this Bosch I would have to use one of the targets that’s received in the box, which takes more time to do that particular measurement.
    Can you tell me if it’s there and how do I find it?

    • @tooltipswithtommy
      @tooltipswithtommy  3 года назад

      If you can describe to me what you're trying to measure, or how you'd like to use it, I will absolutely assist you. It does a squared, plus b squared = c squared. Which is the Pythagorean.

    • @trevorfraites316
      @trevorfraites316 3 года назад +1

      Thank you for such quick response. Let’s say that I want to measure a wall that may be about thirty feet wide ( left to right ). Now I know that I can use a target on one end of the wall then use my laser and when the laser hits the target it give me the length of the wall.
      The first laser that I had I could have just measure that wall by standing somewhere in front of the wall take the laser beam shoot the laser at one end that’s 90 degrees and shoot the laser at the far end of the wall and it gives me the length of that wall.
      The second option To find the length of that wall I can use the laser by standing anywhere in front of the wall shoot the laser beam at one end, the the other beam at 90 degrees and shoot the other laser beam on the other end and it gives me the length of the wall.
      Thanks in advance for your help for getting back to me with this important answer.

      @@trevorfraites316 I'm going to mess around with mine a bit, but I know it uses the built in inclimometer, and I'm afraid it may only do indirect height measurements. I'll get back to you.

      After trying to do what you've asked, unfortunately it will only do indirect measurements on a vertical plane, using the inclinometer. It won't do it on a horizontal plane. So sorry.

    how do you change the fraction from 1 /32" to 1/8" on this device ? i don't need 1/32" , thanks tom

    • @tooltipswithtommy
      @tooltipswithtommy  2 года назад

      Unfortunately on this series of measuring tools you can't change increments. I've been led to believe that the feedback bosch has gotten on these devices, they have added that to the new series. Sorry. Hopefully I can get one of the new ones and do a video on it.

    • @tooltipswithtommy
      @tooltipswithtommy  2 года назад

      I just got one of the new ones, and i can confirm that they have a round up button, that allows you to change measuring increments. 1/4 1/8 or 1/16. I'll be doing a video on it in the next couple days.

      I can't say anything bad about Leica, however I've never used the d2. Bosch is about to release their new measuring tools, including a green laser. If you're on the fence maybe wait a couple weeks for them to drop.
