Good review. I like the recommendations you make at the very end to improve the functionality of the level. Hopefully Bosch will listen and upgrade the firmware to do so
Terrific vid, Rich. Very helpful. Didn't quite follow how to use the continual measurement feature. I was hoping you would demonstrate but I imagine it will be obvious once I experiment a little. Am I correct to assume that when the unit is "area" mode that it assumes your first measurement is height and every following measurement is additional length up until you hit the "clear" button?
So far have you found a way to copy/paste a floorplan - used as a template to divide job tasks like electrical from plumbing? Also, is there a Windows full featured software package to import into for CAD or simple touch ups, corrections, changes, 3D rendering, professional décor arrangements, etc.? Sometime I will be inside an alcove, closet, down a hall, and not know whether Side 1 or Side 2. Also not sure how to address all the different floor to ceiling permutations from standard to 10' to vaulted, cathedral, sloped, etc. I'm sure there are answers to these and many more. This video's been great. Are there more in-depth videos or whitepapers that you know? Thank you!
Be careful with the Positioning Pin. Mine snapped off within the first 2 hours of use, by simply folding it back. Luckily, FFX replaced the unit within 4 days with no quibbles.
Nice review... any tips on measuring from an outside corner to another outside corner..ie a gable end of a building where there is no opposing wall for the laser to register off.... unlike from an outside corner to an inside corner.

I will be using this LMD to measure building heights and don't always have a eave or soffit to bounce off of... Double indirect will be my function of choice. I do have a question though. Is there a way to do indirect / double indirect horizontal measurements? Like the horizontal length of a wall with 2 exterior corners and nothing to bounce off of?
I need to take measurements of where items are on my ceiling (vents, smoke detectors, lights, etc). Rather than having to move furniture, in order to place a ladder at each end of each measuring location, I am hoping that this tool will allow me to use some form of indirect measurement (meaning, that I could take the measurements from the floor, and allow the tool to calculate the various distances from each wall's perimeter. Your video shows you taking such a measurement, at the 12:41 time mark. But I read that although the tool can perform this type of measurement, it can do so only vertically. Ideally, I would like to mount this tool on a tripod, and have it take the ceiling measurements that I am seeking. Is this tool limited to performing indirect (or is it double indirect) measurements vertically? Or can it also do the same on a ceiling? Thanks...
very impresive presentation. thank you for that. however i got a question: does it do indirect horizontal measurement... or better indirest combined horizontal and vertical combined... for example can you measure the cabinet's door diagonal dimension from the table like you measured the height. thanks
when you did the height "once" and then you moved on to the length of a wall how did you keep the height measurement for totaling up the total s/f area of your shop?
Does it factor in the length of the device as a total overall measurement; or is the distance from the unit to the "wall" the distance from the point where the laser is coming out of the front of the unit!
+MIchael Thomas There are a few ways you can set it up. One is to measure from the back of the unit, or include the length of the unit in the calculation. the other is to use the flip up stop on the back for corners. The last is from the front of the unit.
What about the battery of Bosch GLAM 100c?? Can I replace the battery when it is damaged?? Or is it available in market?? Any one knows abt it?? Because I m going to buy this...

Now press the 'Func' again multiple times to cycle through the options until you see a measurement Ex: 0" would mean that the device is currently giving measurements in inches. Press the + and - buttons to cycle through the options until you find the units you want to use. Press the ON button to set this as the unit being used and exit the menu.

A nice product except that once you open the plastic probe, the detent is so strong that the probe snaps off when you try to close it.

When taking an "indirect measurement" - can you do it at an angle other than 90 degrees?
How did you change the settings to shows the measurements with fractions? I cant seem to figure it out
Many of the setting are easiest changed on the settings in the phone app.
I used the function button until I got to the unit of measure icon. Once there use the + or - buttons to get to 0'0"
