What is the ONE unexpected thing that happened when YOU stopped coloring your hair? Comment below so all of the women who are on the fence can read and learn from the ladies on the journey ahead of them. I can't wait to see what YOU learned!
I stopped colouring a dozen or so years ago at mid 50s. The surprise has been a very nice natural colour and smooth, shiny texture. I still get lots of compliments, which I never received when colouring. It still surprises me.
I stopped 6 months ago. I have been suffering from migraine headaches for 27 years .. yes I said it 27 years!. Well towards the end of September I bleached my hair oh boy the migraine was so bad I had to go to the emergency room. Little did I know I have been allergic to the chemicals all those yrs. My migraine is gone . No more headaches. And I am starting to love my natural hair color. . I am also 47 yrs old. 27 yrs suffering and taking prescription medication for migraine that I actually never need if I would have known it was the chemicals from the bleach.
Preach! Hair dye on my skin, itchy scalp, fed up, feeling fake, embracing my age, liking myself as I am and living my life in this day, in this moment, being true. Thank you for making this video.
"Demarcation Line". And I just lost it. Last night I stood in my driveway while my husband cut off 10 inches of 20 months of color grow out. Living in a ponytail the entire time. The relief almost brought me to tears. Even more so when my dear hubby said WOW, that looks so much better. Any you are right on the money about your complexion! Sometimes the best of personal growth is owing our age! Grey and all.
That’s why I shaved all my hair off. I knew that if I had to live with that line, I would give in and have it dyed again. Weirdly, I actually look younger with my granny hair. Embrace the natural silver tinsel.
I so appreciate you speaking to us about that gray hair. Cause i was so scared of going gray. I would dye my hair every chance i got. But when i watched you video my confidence was build up. I am your age. Thanks a lot
I’m growing my grey out at 44 because of brave women like yourself. I think it looks stunning. I went grey in my early 30’s and I wasn’t going to dye it but I buckled to the pressure from others. Anyway, last year I had an undercut both sides, as it was where most of my grey was. I knew I couldn’t handle the grey line coming out, with brown dye. I’ve nearly dyed it a couple of times, but each time I resisted. I then had it cut asymmetrically to get rid of as much dye as possible. I’m now at an amazing stage where I am loving it so much!!!! Thank you for putting yourself out there. You are an inspiration! 💕
Renee, you are a gem!! I first saw you from your heartwarming vis about adopting sweet Pollux (made me think of Castor and Pollux, Of Greek and Roman mythology). Your kindness and gentleness came shining through, and I Loved your beautiful hair, so was thrilled to see this vid! I coloured (Canadian spelling!) my hair for years when I was working, What a royal pain. Always said that I would stop when I retired. Well, life intervened, and I got boob cancer, then of course was Mr Clean with the chemo. When it started to grow back, it came in salt and pepper, and I thought “I can live with this”. And you articulated all of the positive changes I have come to feel. I retired early at 59 (you reset your priorities after cancer) and am so happy in my own skin now, and my grey hair is part of that! Thank you for being such a shining light of positivity, especially during these weird Covid times! Bless you and your family and the pups! ❤️from 🇨🇦! Diane
I stopped coloring my hair five years ago because I did not like the growth of gray with the color. I still have some natural brown with the gray. Looks "salt and pepper". I am 64. My daughters like my natural gray and brown. I live in Louisiana (Baton Rouge area). Enjoy your channel. You can go to my facebook (Deborah Price) and see my recent picture with my two daughters. Take care.
My hair is silver and it's naturally curly. I see a hairdresser once a month to trim them and keep the natural curl from getting crazy. The other women in the shop will ask her what she does to my hair to make it silver and curl "like that". She tells her customers that it's all natural. Some believe it; some don't. I don't care.
You need a t-shirt with the slogan : 50 SHADES OF GREY ..... HAIR Well done on your journey - yes, I know this is an older vid (I have been watching the more current vids - I love your dogs).
Hi I am brand new to starting my transition. With it being 2020...the year of sooo much stress & drama, I decided no more dyes. I am 38 and have lots of new gray/silver. Mine seems to grow wild and in random patches. Your videos are soo helpful. Your personality matches your outter beauty.
Well Renee, I finally did it! I couldn't stand my damaged colored hair any more, so yesterday I had it cut into a pixie. It was so freeing and I was so excited! Blessings!!
Love this video - allowing your hair to display its real colour, allowed you to become your authentic self. No more hiding, no more lying - just out in the open. Great! Thank you for doing such an honest talk about yourself.
I regret ever dyeing my hair, and putting it through all those years of abuse. Since I quit dyeing my hair 3 yrs ago, it's once again healthy, shiny & soft; no more breakage and it stopped falling out. I embrace my glitter now and pamper it.
Great video, Renee! The number one thing for me when I stopped having my hair dyed AND highlighted was just how dark my natural color was. I had completely forgotten about the dark brown my hair I was born with. I loved the cost savings of ditching the dye. I'm like you, I hated the dark staining on my forehead and the itchy scalp. I stopped dyeing after I left Corporate America in 2012 and have never looked back. Honestly, I wish I had more grey...I think it's so beautiful. I try to compliment people I see (whether men or women) on the beautiful grey crown of hair that only God can give us! He knows what he's doing! Keep up the inspiring videos!
Sharon, I also didn’t realize just how dark my natural hair was. I hadn’t seen it in over 20 years! LOL. I love my variations in color...black, grey, white, silver. It gives my hair depth and interest. Thanks for the insight!! 💕
Been following you for last 6 to 8 months. My hair is curly like yours. You hair cut and color are quite flattering. I’m starting to go gray at the temples. Right now, I color about every 8 weeks. I know I will start transitioning in the next couple of years when I get more gray hair!
Hi Amanda!! So glad you are watching💕. For the 5 years before I decided to go grey, I was coloring every 3 1/2 weeks. Sounds like you’ve got a little bit of time ahead of you. I like knowing that you’ve already made the decision. Love it!
You look so much better in grey hair....I too have grown out my dark colored hair (which was actually orange) 2 1/2 years ago and I love it! Also with all the issues we are dealing with being in quarantine, makes it so much easier knowing I don't have to deal with grey roots! :)
My grey hair is my Badge of Honor. I earned every gorgeous grey hair on my head. Can't wait for it to be completely grey. Love your hair, grey and curls really show off your personality.
Omg!!! I've stopped dying mines in December 2019. I'm loving my white hair that's coming in. So, I'm like you because I'm just doing me and taking one gray, white or silver stand that comes in.
Thankyou,thankyou,thankyou....this video was what I really needed.. I m 46,curly hair and in my 4th month of transition and this last weeks were very dificult and I was thinking to color it again, but you gave me the courage I need to continue my journey... ❤🙏 Im not going to give up...
You hit the nail on the head 10 times!! I am 52 and I'm 13 months into growing out my gray hair and completely agree with everything you described. It's unbelievably freeing!! You reinforced what I've been suspecting about how I feel about it. I just found your video and you're adorable!! Thank you!
Greetings to you, I just found your channel, and I am 47yrs... Almost 2 weeks ago I buzzed my head, as I was sooo sick and tired of coloring and trying to cover the greys.. Now I start off with about 75% naturally grey hair... Thank you and you're very beautiful.🙏🏼🤗
Hey Anthea! So glad to have you on my channel :). WOW.....you are a brave woman. I could never pull off the buzz. Power to ya! I think you'll be excited to see the grey grow and all of it's natural color patterns. Keep me posted!
I am at month 10 on growing out my grey. I had a false start at the very beginning of COVID and chickened out. My last color was applied Nov 2020 and i am not going back. I had been coloring my hair for at least 30 years. The funny thing is that I was coloring it 30 years ago to cover grey! At 30 years old my hair was almost all a dark grey! My maternal family grayed very early in life. I never knew my Grandfather without white hair. Never had I seen him when his hair was dark. The same with aunts and uncles. I knew when I stopped the color my hair was not just going to be gray, it was likely going to be white. And it is! That has been my biggest shock! The brown color has faded into a mocha color on the bottom and blends in with the white color. So many people have stopped me and told me how they love my hair!! Like you, these are complete strangers! I found your channel right before I decided to go for it. Your insight and sharing really did help me to decide to move on with it. I have to admit thought that if I just catch a glimpse in the mirror I wonder who that person is staring back at me.
I wore my hair up in a Claw growing it out. I use to die my own hair, too expensive to have done. I could not sit in a chair for 2 hours no way. lol. I will never die my hair again. I don't care what others think. I have pretty silver hair and I am me and only me.
You were the first one I started watching about going gray. I decided almost 10 months ago! Getting there, but it is a process. Also bought your signature tee, love it!!
Hi Shari!!! Really!!?? I was the first? Awww :). You should be out of the yuck part at 10 months. Would love to know how it's going! And thank you for your tee purchase!
Everything you are saying was true for me! The one difference is my hair was always straight. I did not expect the the body and waves I'm getting now. I'm lovin' it. I too am getting compliments! My complexion is better too, it glows more! Thank you Renee for sharing! I just love you! You look beautiful! I'm loving gray!!
Hi Terry!!!! Ooooo....you now have waves? Interesting! I never thought that would happen if you had straight hair. And a big HIGH FIVE on the complexion issue. The grey hair makes us glow!
I am 53 and I have been letting my grey beauty show. I have gotten so many compliments. I have been on this journey for probably 3 years. And my hair has never been so healthy.
Stumbled Across this video today. I stopped coloring my hair at age 46. I was just tired of the cost of it, the time it took and the constant upkeep of it. I had silvers popping thru the dye within 2-3 weeks of getting it colored. I had a few negative comments mostly from relatives in the beginning. Honestly I think it was their own fear of aging that sparked their comments. I had the full support of my husband and kids, in fact they are the ones who helped convince me to just grow out the hair dye. It helped that I had gradually started going lighter with my hair dye over the years so that the transition wasn’t too harsh. I had a lot of hair cuts, trims and layers added, which made the grow out process quicker for me. I believe it took me 16 months to fully transition.I get a lot of compliments now, and it’s continuing to change as years go on.I am 52 now and in most photos my hair appears blonde, but in some photos it’s Silver and very light brown. I was a medium brown naturally most of my life. I love it and wouldn’t go back to hair dye for anything. Thanks to Covid-19, the closing of beauty shops for months and RUclips tutorials I have learned to cut my own hair. I am saving so much time and money.
I watched your video of pollux adoption and became addicted to your channel. Your personality is addictive your amazing and you look fantastic. Your an inspiration and everything you do is perfect
Yes!!! When you spoke about how you looked in the mirror and something just wasn't right-I have been feeling that. Also hyper aware that my complexion and skin in general has changed somehow (just couldn't put my finger on it)! I've recently embraced my waves and now growing out my natural-thank you so much! Love your videos, they're so helpful!
Renee, I resonate with you regarding the straw like hair. I absolutely hated it but felt I had no way out. But then, my scalp reacted to henna and indigo and became so tender. I would literally cry if a comb touched my scalp. I went grey cold turkey and faced so much horrible comments, especially from my hairdresser. He told me that I was ruining his reputation by going grey - that he was in the beauty industry and I did not look beautiful. The first 6 months were so hard for me but I stuck it out. Its my hair and I will not be told that I need to do my hair in a certain way to fit into many people's screwed up view of what they term beautiful. I thank GOD for every strand of grey hair - its mine!! You are the inspiration to many. Thank you Cleopatra from Zimbabwe
Oh my goodness!! That is NOT the way a hairdresser should treat his client!! Wow! But I'm glad to know you stayed true to yourself. Cheers to you! So how far along are you now? And Zimbabwe....hey!
@@WelcomeToMyCurls Yup - watching your videos all the way in Zimbabwe! Renee, I fully transitioned to grey hair 2 years ago. I turned 49 this year. There is definitely something to be gained - not lost - by going grey. I gained the freedom to accept and be who I am - beautifully grey. I wear my curly hair in a longer pixie style. You have such beautiful curly hair and I love how the colour of your top looks on you. Gorgeous
Cleopatra Bonne I think the transition to grey hair looks a lot better on curly hair than straight hair. It seems to blend in better without having any definite lines like a part. Unfortunately my hair is dead straight and short and I dread what it will look like growing out?
You Are such an evolved woman Rene. I’m so much like you in my philosophy of getting older. I didn’t think I would like my grey hair but surprisingly I’m loving it.
Younger people have also commented on how much they like my grey hair. I agree with everything you had to say in this video. I am so happy I quit coloring it.
You gave me even more confidence in growing out my grey hair, alot of my grey hair is actually a beautiful silver, I haven't dyed my hair in 2 months and after watching this video I'm going to keep going, I'm at that point where the difference between my dyed hair and grey hair is looking like people are probably thinking (dang lady you need to dye your hair) but I don't care....I'm going to keep going, and your video helped! Thank you! I subscribed after watching this video and I am excited about watching more of them. You look beautiful! 😊
Your channel was in my feed I guess because of the dogs. I can say that the first thing I thought when I saw you was that I really liked your hair. Then I continued watching because of the dogs.
The best thing for me is how much I absolutely love my natural gray hair! The texture is thicker and not dry anymore. The gray color is variegated and so beautiful, like having beautiful natural highlights!
I love everything about this video, especially how you discovered other things that you weren’t going to allow to permeate your mood. This is fantastic information for those of us curlyheads who are graying. Thank you!
I was sick of how damaged my hair was and decided to stop coloring it after 30 years of sitting in a salon chair.. I am 51 and have not colored my hair for 3 years. It is such a freeing experience and it does affect more than just your looks. I wish I actually had more gray, but it's just a neutral brown shade with a few grays in the front. I like to call them my wisdom highlights It is definitely healthier and a completely different head of hair than I've ever had. Thanks for your inspiration and I also enjoy seeing you doggers❤️
Great video! Im 45 thinking of finally taking the walk into grey! I had to tell u that the skunk line actually looks so cool to me! I think you look great in that photo! I hope I can make it thru that period lol I havent told my stylist yet but I will break it to her soon
Hey Renee, love your channel, your hair, and your accent!! I am only about two months growing, but I am so glad I decided to do it , and my hair is just as curly. That first photo you showed is me!!!
Your hair looks awesome from what I've seen in all phases. I can't wait to watch your make-up application videos. Yeah, I'm 64 and I've gone back and forth with coloring because of the cost. But you are so right about the benefits. You are still a youngster. Keep enjoying the journey, Curlfriend, you're on the right path. May the Grey Force be with you. 😂🎶🤣🎶😁
Besides everything you stated, I also realized when I stopped coloring my hair, my rosacea didn’t flare as often! Genetically, I have been blessed with good skin but the increasing skin sensitivity and rosacea was an issue. After I stopped coloring, I funneled that $$$ I spent on my colorist and began seeing an esthetician once a month and what a difference to my skin and rosacea! And, I am bolder with my make up also and my clothes and realizing I lean towards a boho style that I tended to ignore and dressed more classically (still do but throw in more color now), but now, it’s like I have the freedom to choose whatever I want to wear that I like and not what society made me feel I had to wear. I am almost 58 and being a silver vixen has freed me to be me!
Dear Renee, it is such a joy to watch your videos.. YOU LOOK GREAT AT 48. GOOD FOR BEING BRAVE ENOUGH TO LET YOUR HAIR GO NATURAL WITH GRAY HIGHLIGHTS.
I think the picture that you showed of the outgrowth of grey hair looks good. We all think pictures of us look bad. Found your utube channel by accident. Love it, I especially love max and Pollux.
You're an inspiration! And a natural beauty; so pretty! I haven't dyed in 4 months and have been looking for support to continue on my journey. Thank you! ♡ Might get one of those t-shirts, too ♡
...and I bet you’ve saved so much money. Never coloured my hair because I’m too stingy with money. Haven’t been to a hairdresser in 4 years. Your hair suits you. Well done!
I’m at 5 mos. I feel I have reached the point of no return, but you are right - its impossible to style it. I have been wearing bandeaus and scarves. I can’t wait until I have some more growth and can chop it!
I wish I never colored my hair. And just like you I made my decision super easy. I hated the grey roots. I have curly hair too and the transition lasted about 12 months because I decided to cut my hair real short and get rid of the colored strands as soon as possible. Your hair is super beautiful and you look great. Hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷
The difference in the photos are amazing! In the later one your natural beauty just shines. You look totally at peace, completely open and honest, not like you are worried about trying to hide something. Not saying that you look dodgy in the first photo, but it shows how you thought long and hard about the decision to go grey. With hindsight, it looks like it's on your mind subconsciously. Your hair is beautiful. Take care, Poo
I just started watching your channel about you and your beautiful family including your beautiful dogs. I immediately noticed your hair and commented to my husband about it. You are gorgeous with those beautiful curls and grey hair! It reminds me about me years and years ago. I remember working at this Sylvania Electric Plant and actually retired from there. I had always dyed my hair back then with a dark golden brown. I, like you, was getting very tired of dying and keeping up with it but I didn't want grey hair so I kept it up anyway. This lady who started working with us had beautiful grey hair and I don't know how many times I had commented on it to her and others about how beautiful it was on her. One day she came in and all of that had changed... She had dyed her hair a dark brown and I was in shock when I saw it and many others were too. Not natural looking at all. This is when I realized I was going to stop dying my hair!. I did not expect my friends to be after me to dye my hair again. (period of adjustment!) One friend asked me, "Why are you letting that grey hair take over??" I explained to her that I wanted to see the real me!! After so many negative comments, I was close to reversing my decision and dying it again but I didn't! I let it grow out and became a mostly salt and pepper grey and was happy that I did it. My hair was healthy again finally and I didn't miss the appointments and had more money in my pockets...lol People began to know me for who I really was and who I am now with my grey hair. No regrets! Thank you for your channel.. I so enjoy listening to you and your family..
You look gorgeous in your unique curly gray hair. I see 50 shades of gray, a natural arrays of highlights. Awesome! I grew out my gray hair too, I feel the same freedom that I don’t have to commit to salon appointments. Save money and time. I noticed that I have new hair growths resulting in thicker fuller hair, and some new body curves emerged. May be as you said, healthier scalp and hair without the dye. I’m not sure if other people experienced the same results. Even my adult son commented a couple times I look good with the present hair. He usually doesn’t sweet talk.
Hi Marione! THE FREEDOM.....YES! It seems like an insignificant thing until you actually have it. The freedom from hair dye is huge! Hope all is well in Sweden!
When I colored my hair I would lose a lot of hair; black hair all over the sink. My husband would have to clear the drain pipes every so often and pull out the blob of hair. I haven’t colored my hair for two years and the drain hasn’t clogged up once; I lose a lot less hair, probably 80% less.
Oh...where to start! You are looking fabulous! Look into David Zyla’s book, Color Your Style. It’s a lot of fun and your girls will get a lot out of it also. My natural hair was dark auburn brown, then colored similar for 10 years. Now my hair is dark charcoal grey with light streaks. No red, no brown at all-charcoal and silver. WEIRD! So totally nothing like my prior 45 years. I had to learned new colors, styles and make up. I get compliments all the time now! I can hardly wait to see your hair with no dye! You’ll love it!! So excited for you!
Great video Renee!... I am still in the fence for going grey!... everyone keeps saying I will look older, it won’t look good, I am crazy for letting it go grey... on and on... lol... I need more courage!... I think we need a tee shirt for us women that are on the fence!😂😂😂😂..you look gorgeous as always!.., your hair looks aaaaamazing!.... thank you for being you!... love ya girl!!!!💜💜💜💜💜
I decided back in my 20's to never color my hair. I'm 49 and have been slow in turning grey but it's there now, long stands of grey, and I'm still committed to not coloring it. It's healthy and strong. I don't want it to be dry and brittle, something my friends complain about all the time. Crazy thing is , I'm seeing more 20 somethings turning their hair grey. Go for it, grey gracefully 😊
Totally agree about the dark colored hair versus my complexion. I was so surprised. After I was completely grown out, I posted a photo to Facebook comparing a photo from about 3 years before (with my copper brown dyed hair) to a current photo with my natural (gray) hair. Several friends said I looked younger with the natural hair. Also, I now can see others of all ages that have the mismatch. Thanks for sharing.
Sooooo true Gale! It's really all about matching your complexion. I look and feel so much better with my grey hair than I ever did with colored hair. Thanks for sharing!
You look very beautiful. I started going grey as a teenager and been dying it for about 21 years. Two years ago I had about 12 operations over a 18 month period so couldn’t dye my hair. Then once it got past the annoying stage people started commenting how much healthier my hair is. I am now about 75% white, 43 years and embracing it. Much love to you, your family, Max and Pollox 😘
Oh my gosh! YAY!!!!!! I'm so excited for you! Just know that it's going to be messy....but you will soon realize all of the benefits. So glad to have you on my channel :)
I am sooooooo with you!!! My mother had the prettiest white/ silver hair....I kept saying “if mine would be that colour I would let my hair go in a heartbeat”. Well, my mom died three years ago and unfortunately I was still coloring and straightening my hair. A few months later...I had missed a couple of hair appointments and figured....well, I have a good grow out going....I’ll do it!!! I really hated the time and expense of coloring my hair and knew, as we age, we loose color in our skin and even though I had gone lighter on my hair color....something was still wrong! I felt like a skunk for about 5 months... but it has been so worth it!!! I now (after years of straightening) have my natural waves and curls back, my hair is in wonderful condition and a really pretty white/silver color!!! Plus, that money I was spending getting my hair done....I can now spend on something more fun!! 😊. I too have received lovely comments from strangers on my color and curls and surprised comments from friends and family on how it makes me look younger!!! I wish I had done it sooner!! By the way.....I LOVE YOUR CURLS AND COLOR....BEAUTIFUL!
I am 57 and am finally all grey. Took 2 years...UGH! But I totally agree, it is sooo liberating! My best friend just decided to let hers go grey, and that was also what I told her...Liberating! 😆 I just subscribed to your channel, my daughter and I are both curly girls too. You’re so cute, and your hair is beautiful!
LOVE your hair!!! And you are so right, WOW, your complexion is absolutely glowing. You were beautiful before, but you are totally stunning with your grey hair! I am in the process of growing my hair out, though I do not have many greys. Many people are so worried about their greys but I can say that I will absolutely embrace it. I think the grey is an honour to be able to experience - not everyone gets the privilege of having greys and getting older (I know, some grey much younger than others). So thankful for every birthday and every grey I get to experience
Great video! I am 4 months in now and it's not easy like you said, but I thought it would me much harder. Should have done this already a few years ago! Also I stopped putting chemicals in my hair and I stopped blow drying. It's such a difference! I have also curls like you and I am doing the girly girl method. My hair has never felt so soft and healthy. It's one of the reasons that makes me stick to my decision of stop dying. It feels so good!
Your grey hair picture made your skin look brighter..I am thinking of going grey,,i am , 71 ,I get my hair coloured blonde,,and I think it is about time to stop...thank you for giving me confidence to do it,,,
Your hair looks great! I am still on the fence with going grey. I want so much to stop colouring my hair but I just can't get there yet. Everyone telling me that I'm not old enough yet to have grey hair (although my natural hair is now grey) is not helping my decision. I hate the 2 1/2 hr appointment every 6 weeks and hate the chemicals that goes into this. Every time I'm due for another appointment I consider forgetting the colour and just have a cut but when I phone I can't do it! Arrrghhhh!.
Dianne, sounds like to me you are ready. If you hate the color as much as you described then you should just jump! It's going to be bad in the beginning. Then it gets better...promise!!!
I"m a curly red head and never have colored my hair. I have some greys coming in and I can't wait to see what it does. Stumbled on your video and loved it. You are beautiful and I love your curly hair. I'm enjoying mine too!
I find all the ladies who are not colouring their hair look absolutely amazing. I rarely colour my hair because I don't enjoy sitting at the salon and when I did, I hated that it was so dry. I'm bracing myself to start greying as I will be turning 40. Thank you for your videos, your curls are so beautiful and your natural colour has such a lovely flow to it.
I give you credit for getting through that awkward outgrowth stage. I'm not sure if I could do it myself and figure I'll probably go salt and pepper/silver all over and then let the gray come in when I'm ready. I can't see myself dying my hair for the rest of my life either.
I am 52, and have been bleaching my hair since 7th grade. I very much appreciate your comment that at the end of coloring your hair, you felt like you didn’t look right. SAME! I have always had my blonde hair. Loved my blonde hair, but suddenly I didn’t feel good in it. …….so I colored my hair dark chocolate brown! 😂 Really, it doesn’t look too bad. Doesn’t look fabulous either, but it shows my grey way more than the blonde did. I also have way more grey than I thought I did! It’s been about 2 months. I think I’m going to let the grey fly! I’ve never had natural hair, and I’ve never had long hair. (Too dry!) I think I’m going for both! Grey’s and all! Thank you for your video. Your hair is absolutely beautiful!
Hi I just discovered you!!! I too have curly hair and decided to go grey at 58...I’m 63 now and have never regretted it! I kept having the conversation with my hairdresser about not colouring but she kept saying oh no, so when I decided it was time to stop the colour I’m afraid we parted ways. I too kept thinking my complexion had changed and my makeup has all changed now and colours I could never wear look great. It took about two years to completely grow out, as you know curly hair just keeps on giving😁 I look forward to viewing all your other videos and will definitely add you to my instagram. Cheers from a curly grey sister in Australia 😁
Hey Australia!!!! I hate hearing that your hairdresser wasn't supportive. That's horrible! Us curly gals do have an easier road to grey. I think you'll enjoy my video that's coming out on Thursday. Stay tuned!
You are so right - I started going salt and pepper grey in my twentys and slowly over the years it has gotten lighter and lighter until now at 61 I am all white. People always asked during those years why I didn't color and I would always tell them because it wasn't me this is me. I also always felt that it wouldn't match my skin because like you I noticed my skin getting lighter as my hair went whiter. I didn't get many compliments over those years rather people would say things like you are a pretty women but you would be prettier if you colored your hair I also got that about makeup also. I never cared this was and is me and it is where I am comfortable I just wish more women could feel more comfortable in their own beautiful natural selfs. I applaud you for being so open and hopefully helping other women to see how freeing it has been for you and could be for them.
I come into your Paducah CTC location and am always checking out your hair. I had no idea you were on RUclips!!! I am going to give this a go. You have inspired me to embrace my gray!! You look great. ❤
I just stumbled onto your channel and I wish I had sooner. I didn’t know about purple shampoo on gray/silver hair. I was 8 months in growing out the gray and I couldn’t stand it any longer and colored it. I regret it so I’m starting back now. I am 54 and curly like you. Thank you so much for your advice.
I am so glad and so agree when you said that about your hair and your complexion. My husband DOES NOT like his gray hair (I think it's uber sexy) and wanted to dye his hair and I had to keep telling him that dyed hair made him look OLDER because what comes in the bottle just does not match what's going on with your wrinkles and skin texture!!! Rock it sistah!!! Give us updates on Pollux.
What is the ONE unexpected thing that happened when YOU stopped coloring your hair? Comment below so all of the women who are on the fence can read and learn from the ladies on the journey ahead of them. I can't wait to see what YOU learned!
I lost my curls. :(
janet macdonald I have been wondering if that may happen?
I stopped colouring a dozen or so years ago at mid 50s. The surprise has been a very nice natural colour and smooth, shiny texture. I still get lots of compliments, which I never received when colouring. It still surprises me.
Everyone talks to me now about my silver curls. Most are afraid to take the leap. Older men are very supportive.
LOVE THIS!!!!!!! I can't imagine the feeling of having it all gone at once. It must be amazing! Cheers to YOU!!!
That’s why I shaved all my hair off. I knew that if I had to live with that line, I would give in and have it dyed again.
Weirdly, I actually look younger with my granny hair. Embrace the natural silver tinsel.
Jenni Marr Exactly my thoughts. That’s why I cut my hair real short and got rid of the colored strands at once. Grey power!!!
Thank you for the sweet words!!! Glad to have you on my channel 💕
Take care.
Your "bad" hair days were so gorgeous 😍
People pay a lot of money for hair like yours. Bot with the curles and dying their hair grey.
I would love to have your hair 👌
My hair is silver and it's naturally curly. I see a hairdresser once a month to trim them and keep the natural curl from getting crazy. The other women in the shop will ask her what she does to my hair to make it silver and curl "like that". She tells her customers that it's all natural. Some believe it; some don't. I don't care.
I too would love to have your hair! Unfortunately I have fine straight hair and the gray is not pretty. You have been blessed!
You need a t-shirt with the slogan :
50 SHADES OF GREY ..... HAIR
Well done on your journey - yes, I know this is an older vid (I have been watching the more current vids - I love your dogs).
Renee you have inspired me to go gray .I'm 57 and I've been wanting to go gray for years . I love your hair and you look great 👍
Hi I am brand new to starting my transition.
Blessings!!
Oh wow Jean! Wish I could see a photo. Glad you love it. There’s nothing better than a good fresh cut 🤗
Jean Jacobs It's probably adorable.
You could never look bad!... no matter what color your hair is!... you are a natural beauty!
It is very freeing to not care what others think!
That’s the way to go about it. Just be you! Glad to have you on my channel! ☺️
With all the variations, it's much prettier than flat, matte dye.
I started my journey December 2019 too!
Me too! Stopped in November/December
Thankyou,thankyou,thankyou....this video was what I really needed.. I m 46,curly hair and in my 4th month of transition and this last weeks were very dificult and I was thinking to color it again, but you gave me the courage I need to continue my journey... ❤🙏 Im not going to give up...
You are so welcome Sylvia! You are in the tough part. It does get better...promise! You can do it! 💕
You hit the nail on the head 10 times!! I am 52 and I'm 13 months into growing out my gray hair and completely agree with everything you described. It's unbelievably freeing!! You reinforced what I've been suspecting about how I feel about it. I just found your video and you're adorable!! Thank you!
Thanks so much Jen! Glad to have you on my channel :)
I stopped coloring my hair for the exact same reasons as you. It’s been a year for me and love it. So freeing yes.
I have a nice 3-4
inch skunk line and i will not re color. Thank you for all of your information and encouragement
Thank you.. Definately will keep you updated.. I'm loving this freedom.. 🙏🏼🤗😊
You’re right about the freedom of the buzz. I never regretted doing mine.
♡
I’m 51, curly girl and not dying hair either and SO glad to find your channel!
Welcome!! So glad to have you on my channel!
Love that pink T-shirt.. I’m almost 65 and am gray/ white hair.. been so for a long time and love it.. growing older gracefully!! Love your videos
I wish I never colored my hair, ever!!!!
Me too
Me too.
Why
NORML so I would be grey by now and not have to do the big transformation that takes years to have no dye in your hair and be all natural hair!
Yes having to do the grey hair grow out is not easy.
I just found your channel, and I’m so glad I did. Your hair is so beautiful!!
Thanks! Glad to have you here :)
Thank you
Cleopatra from Zimbabwe
Gorgeous
@@cleopatrabonne7582 Thanks Cleopatra!!! I'll soon be at my 2 year anniversary also. And yes....so much to gain by going grey.
I am 70 years old and have necver colored my hair. I have gray hair not white, and it's brilliant!
Younger people have also commented on how much they like my grey hair. I agree with everything you had to say in this video. I am so happy I quit coloring it.
Yay Anne!!!!! It's always so true....and as I always say....LIFE IS BETTER WHEN YOU GO GREY!
You are my hero. : ) I've made the decision to go gray! Can't wait to see how my transition goes.
Hi Marta!!!! You can do it! You’re in the toughest stage right now but just keep going. It will get better and you’ll be so glad you did it 💗
Proverbs, Gray hair is a crown of splendor. 16:31 I love my gray , y hair is a!so healthier☺️😊😚
Your channel was in my feed I guess because of the dogs. I can say that the first thing I thought when I saw you was that I really liked your hair. Then I continued watching because of the dogs.
Same :)
Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words. So glad to have you on my channel!
Curlfriend.....love that!
Oh Wow!!!!! That's fantastic!!! Bolder makeup, new clothing styles and colors.....LOVE IT!
No matter if I see you video after a month or two later I still enjoy it ,thank you
Dear Renee, it is such a joy to watch your videos..
Thank you! ♡ Might get one of those t-shirts, too ♡
Hi And!! So glad to have you on my channel :)
...and I bet you’ve saved so much money.
Thanks so much! Glad to have you on my channel!
I found my first gray hair at 17. Never dyed itI like my gray.
Freedom!!!! Healthy beautiful hair. Never ever more hair dye, every difficult time under the transition is just soooooo worth it. You look stunning😘💞
Hi Marione! THE FREEDOM.....YES! It seems like an insignificant thing until you actually have it. The freedom from hair dye is huge! Hope all is well in Sweden!
WELCOME TO MY CURLS ❤️♥️😘
When I colored my hair I would lose a lot of hair; black hair all over the sink. My husband would have to clear the drain pipes every so often and pull out the blob of hair. I haven’t colored my hair for two years and the drain hasn’t clogged up once; I lose a lot less hair, probably 80% less.
Me too!!!!! I still do lose a bunch of hair simply because of my curls....but it's a lot less than when I was coloring my hair. Good point!
Same here. One day the woman who colored my hair said I was really shedding. That was my last coloring and I save almost $1,000.00 a year.
Thanks Cassie 💕
Great video Renee!... I am still in the fence for going grey!... everyone keeps saying I will look older, it won’t look good, I am crazy for letting it go grey... on and on... lol... I need more courage!... I think we need a tee shirt for us women that are on the fence!😂😂😂😂..you look gorgeous as always!.., your hair looks aaaaamazing!.... thank you for being you!... love ya girl!!!!💜💜💜💜💜
Your hair looks cool now, I'm gonna be 50, and in yr I want to cut it off. Thank u for all your testimonials
Linda Marocco you need less care for what others have to say.
Naiane so true!!!!!!
DKS mom4 great comment!.. thank you!!!💜💜💜💜💜
You are so genuine and honest, Renee... thank you so much !!!
Thanks Linda. You are always welcome ❤️
The Mauve top is so complementary to your hair and pearls, what brand is it?
Beautiful hair, beautiful gal, beautiful family, beautiful home, cute dogs. Renee has it all.
You are amazing, inside and outside!! Taking you as a role model, today is the first day of my (going) gray hair journey. ❤️
Oh my gosh! YAY!!!!!! I'm so excited for you! Just know that it's going to be messy....but you will soon realize all of the benefits. So glad to have you on my channel :)
@@WelcomeToMyCurls Thank you for your encouraging words 😘
@@DiSe7819 So glad I can help! You go girl!
I think that all the compliments that you get boost your confidence as well. I also think that u would look so pretty with a short bob.
I am 57 and am finally all grey. Took 2 years...UGH! But I totally agree, it is sooo liberating! My best friend just decided to let hers go grey, and that was also what I told her...Liberating! 😆
I just subscribed to your channel, my daughter and I are both curly girls too. You’re so cute, and your hair is beautiful!
Thanks so much Christine! Glad to have you on my channel!
I just found your channel & so glad I did! I really do feel people look their best when they embrace their natural beauty! Loving your videos & hair 😊
So glad to have you on my channel! Welcome💗
I believe the fact you have the awesome curly hair. And the complexion you do has helped a lot xxx 💕❤💞
Hi Angela! I do think having curly hair makes the transition easier. It’s helps disguise the demarcation line. Lucky me! LOL 🤗
❤️❤️❤️
Great video! I am 4 months in now and it's not easy like you said, but I thought it would me much harder. Should have done this already a few years ago! Also I stopped putting chemicals in my hair and I stopped blow drying. It's such a difference! I have also curls like you and I am doing the girly girl method. My hair has never felt so soft and healthy. It's one of the reasons that makes me stick to my decision of stop dying. It feels so good!
Oh gosh yes!! I love that my hair is so much softer and healthier. Huge benefits to going grey! 😊
Your grey hair picture made your skin look brighter..I am thinking of going grey,,i am , 71 ,I get my hair coloured blonde,,and I think it is about time to stop...thank you for giving me confidence to do it,,,
Im glad you decided to give your natural color a chance, it will look amazing!
I switched to temporary dye about 3 months ago. It's my attempt to grow my grey out long enough that it's not so awkward. Crossing my fingers.
You are like a butterfly set free from a cacoon I aspire to be that way someday soon thanks for sharing
I"m a curly red head and never have colored my hair. I have some greys coming in and I can't wait to see what it does. Stumbled on your video and loved it. You are beautiful and I love your curly hair. I'm enjoying mine too!
I’m sure your red hair will be gorgeous as the silver comes in. I’m excited for you!!
Thanks so much!! I’m almost finished with my grey transition and so glad I did it. You won’t regret it 💕
You look amazing because you have found real you.
Really, it doesn’t look too bad.
I’m just so glad to learn that curls show the demarcation differently! Thank you.
Stay tuned!
Grey hair looks. Beautiful on you. This video is giving me the courage to cut the dye habit.
Oh yay!!!! You can do it!!! We're all here to support you.
Thanks Tami! 💗
I come into your Paducah CTC location and am always checking out your hair. I had no idea you were on RUclips!!! I am going to give this a go. You have inspired me to embrace my gray!! You look great. ❤
Oh hey! LOL. Small world 🌎. Next time you come in for ice cream....let’s chat. I’m excited to see your hair! 💕
You have absolutely GORGEOUS hair! I envy your curls, too!
💗💗
I remember watching both Emmilou Harris & Bonnie Raitt gradually going gray and always thought it was beautiful. Same with you🙂
I just stumbled onto your channel and I wish I had sooner. I didn’t know about purple shampoo on gray/silver hair. I was 8 months in growing out the gray and I couldn’t stand it any longer and colored it. I regret it so I’m starting back now. I am 54 and curly like you. Thank you so much for your advice.
Hi Lisa! It does get tough but you can do it!! And you'll be so glad you stuck it out :)
