BOTH Paul Dano & John Cusack were brilliant in this film. Because I lived this story, I just wish the film had taken 30 more minutes to background who Gene was, & how he came to treat BW. Also, I loved how Paul sang --thanks to Darian Sahanaja for that! Wolfsky9
I saw Brian Wilson last nite in concert I was never really a Beach Boys fan or knew too much about Brian Wilson I am now an avid fan after doing my research on the internet and he's had an amazing life and he went thru a helluva lot I want to see the movie Love & Mercy He is such a good soul You can't help but love him
I'm an avid fan, too. after seeing the movie. I always knew who they were before I had seen the film, but I always had this image in my brain about the beach boys: some spoiled rich dudes singing about surfing and girls. But once I saw Love and Mercy. It opened a lot of doors. I now respect the beach boys (most definitely Brian) tremendously. Their music is lovely and must I say Pet Sounds is the greatest album ever made (just an opinion)... I was hoping to see them in concert, but Brian wasn't going to be there. Maybe next time.
Such a great movie. The best biopic of a singer, songwriter, etc that I can think of. Far better than Bohemian Rhapsody. Great cast but omg, Paul Dano is amazing.
Ahora se que la actuación solo fue un espejismo en mi vida😂❤ hay que bueno porque eso de posar para una actuación fue muy estresante para mi 😊😊😊 soy Verónica peña😊😊
No feedback from Marilyn (Brian's first wife) evidently. How would they get a complete view of his 60's persona? And did they speak with the rest of the band?
bearing mind that Brian's brothers are no longer with us and Mike Love re-writes Beach Boy history every time he talks about it, there weren't that many people to speak to.
Yes he gained 35 pounds and then got injured either knee or ankle after wrapping the film up bc his body wasn't meant for that weight. Just type in paul dano love&mercy interview. He answers a lot of questions. I couldn't be more impressed
Kevin Hall I was expecting Paul Dano to be good & he was. Have to say I was hugely surprised & really delighted by John Cusack's perfomance - I think he absolutely nailed that mix of sweetness, fragility and persistent self-doubt that Brian has lived with for most of his life. The lack of any real physical resemblance didn't matter, Cusack understood the man & that really translated onto screen for me.
ugggh, but thats every cusack role ever. he plays the love-struck, unconfident, sweetheart over end over. He's been playing that role his whole career. He hasn't made a decent movie since the 80's
God John and Paul did a FANTASTIC job portraying Brian.
Ah yes what could be better than two Beatles portraying Brian Wilson...;)
Paul Dano is such an incredible young actor, I am reminded of how awestruck I was about Phillip S Hoffman. Feels so familiar
lightheart53 Hopefully without the same demons.
yes sir...hope springs eternal and lives in art.
I made the same comparison

OMG! Paul Dano so handsome!! love him!
This film deserves more appreciation.
PAUL THO 😍😍😍

Great film, very touching and an interesting and strong portrayal of mental illness and creativity, and love! Elizabeth Banks was great!
Liz Banks as Melinda was the hero or heroine of this film and story. Brian was SO lucky to have met this woman. God bless her.

pretty low bar
@@jamesq5831 What do you believe to be better?
I like Bohemian Rapsody and I think it's a great movie, but since I like The Beach Boys more than Queen I like this movie a lot more
They sure did, Helen. Love & Mercy for movie of the year!!
i'm dying here! trailer, SOMETHING! PLEASE!
Love John! I gotta see this movie!
June 5th! I can't wait!
Amazing film
LOL, the vid identifies the director as "Bill Polad", and the description "Bill Poland". Both wrong.
+bo31411 HAHAH I laughed real loud too, hate typos!
I’m sorry but, Paul Dano has the most roundest and youthful face I’ve ever seen before

wait so did Paul Dano put on weight for the role or was it just really good make up?
he is rather skinny in this interview, so im curious about that.

Isn't your intro music by Paris Combo?
When? When? When?
It was impossible for me to see Cusack as Brian. Great acting, but his face and hair weren't remotely similar. At least he could have wore a wig.
Paul Dano did great with the role, but Cusack was so bad he ruined the movie

Kevin Hall not exactly. Cusack has had a pretty wide range of film roles. Have you seen him in Identity, 1408, The Grifters
