Well that's cool! All these years, I've never thought about putting drawers under my shelves. I really like that idea! Thanks Shara for thinking outside the box! Actually, I guess that's a box within a box. Have a great weekend!
Haha i always say drawers are just boxes inside boxes 🤣 it’s a simple concept haha. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and the project! Maybe it will inspire the addition of drawers in more unexpected places 😉 have a great weekend!
Shara, I love this design! I purchased and downloaded the plans and made this bookcase. One thing I added was to place cleats on the second drawer from the top to hold a removable sheet of then plywood flush with the top edge of the draw box. This allows me to use this drawer as a standing work surface for looking at books or albums from the shelves. Thank you for inspiring me to build these shelves!
Great touch with the hidden storage drawers! Never seen that one before in a bookshelf, Awesome! I see you brought the guns out for this one🤙🏾💪🏾. Thanks for sharing..
I love it! I need to build a shelf for all of our games and puzzles and love the idea of adding drawers. You must be fast because it looks like you were wearing the same shorts and shirt through most of the project. Also, please wear some knee pads when you're on the concrete. I'm sure you're not on your knees a lot but it still worries me. Now I need to check out your drawer videos. I've never built one. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you! This was a pretty quick build. If you want to learn more about drawer building, check out this guide: www.woodshopdiaries.com/theres-no-wrong-way-to-make-a-drawer/ You may find it helpful! :)
I've had people ask me for built-ins with beefy looking shelves, and I've never even thought about putting a drawer there. What a great idea! The visual heft added by the thick shelves is really impactful. I love it!
So excited for two weeks in a row!! Plus it’s Magic!! You do know the way to my heart! 😉 Really though, I can see myself making this one for my daughters room, as should would love the “magic” shelves too!!

@@WoodshopDiaries I would offer to help you make it three weeks in a row by offering motivational speeches, words of wisdom, examples of what not to do, and things like that, but you’d have to spill the beans on what the next project is! Haha a Mr Cool would be nice in the shop. But, I just REALLY like being able to open the big doors and feel like I'm not cooped up, so it probably wouldn't help much. I'll deal with the heat to be able to feel like I'm working outside :) Lou likes it better that way, too so she can go in and out haha. I appreciate you watching and hope you have a great week!
