6:02 That's what we get for trying to ignore Bub. 😂 Another great project, Shara! My niece and her husband are about to close on their first house. So this bedroom set might be a great house warming gift. 🎉
Bubs was definitely making sure I was aware of his presence during this-and the dresser build (my next video I’m currently editing) 🤣 he’s so funny. That’s an exciting new chapter for your niece! A handmade bedroom set would be an amazing housewarming gift! I wish them all the best in this exciting time and I wish you happy building as well 😉🔨 thank you so much for watching and following along. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
You are truly one determined young woman. All bundled up just to build these nightstands! What I like about your videos are all the little hidden gems you have in them which can be applied to other projects. Thanks for all your hard work and, may I add, excellent videography. All the best this year!
I finally decided on a design just when the weather decided to throw us a cold snap 🤣 we made it…next week is supposed to be much better 🙌 So glad you enjoy the videos-all the randomness included. Thank you so much for cheering me on and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Your designs always yield attractive, solid pieces without the need for super expensive tools or twenty-five years of experience. These are no exception. Thank you for sharing. PS - I have been using an oscillating, radiant heater in my unheated, uninsulated shed. I recommend one to you. You truly looked painfully cold.
Thank you so much! I do my best to keep things as simple as I can 😊 I appreciate you watching! I do without heat mostly because I can’t stand working without my shop doors open haha. Luckily it doesn’t get that cold here during the winters except for maybe a couple weeks out of the year, so we make do.
The available plans are very well done, reasonably priced, easily to follow and well illustrated. I have not found better plans for a hobbyist woodworker. I completed one nightstand and now my neighbor wants me to build one for their home :).
I've just recently come across your channel, and every video I've seen has been great and to the point. A refreshing change to some of the other videos out there
Thank you! I’m really happy with how they turned out and I can’t wait to share the matching dresser. Have a great weekend and thanks so much for watching!
Noice project Shara! This is a great set of nightstands. I always enjoy your illustrations and find them to be useful in a lot of different builds. lol… Bubs just wants to help! Take care and have a great weekend!
Thank you so much! So happy you find the videos helpful and truly I appreciate you following along! Bubs is always “trying to help” 🤣 he’s all over this video and my next one 🤦🏼♀️ I do appreciate his company in the shop though. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
Thank you, but I promise it IS easy with a little patience and practice. I’m not great with the patience part, but I’m getting better with it haha. I appreciate your kind words and I also appreciate you watching. I hope it’s helpful to you and I hope you have a great weekend 💕
This is great! Love these plans. I think I’ll modify them a little by adding a wireless charger in the top slightly routed under neath the top. Or maybe an outlet in the top with usb-a or usb-c chargers. Happy new year
My daughter, she’s 23, will love making these with me, I’m the labourer, she’s the craftsperson 😅 These are just exactly what she’s had in mind but unable to find a pair anywhere, looks like you’ve bagged a new sub 🩷🙏💪
I just watched this probably a hour ago. And I've just been thinking about it since then. I sleep with a cpap machine which is cumbersome and has tubing. For years I've wondered what could I get that was a nightstand, with shelves but had possibly a door? That way the cpap machine isn't always visible. Then I saw this. I think this would be a great option. It's possible that this could be made and I can add a little door on the front. And the cables can still come out of the back. I don't know why but no one hasn't ever addressed furniture options to store/hide things like cpap machines that are plugged in. But to me that's a whole untapped market. Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate it. Btw, I liked the bubs notification. What a cute and chill little kitty.
The nightstands look great next to the bed, perfect combo. Also, good to see you're back. Can't wait for next videos. Have a great weekend Shara. Steve
Thank you! Excited to be back after a later start than I had planned after the new year 😅 can’t wait to share the matching dresser shortly! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for watching!
Great job as always Shara the nightstands turned out beautiful to go a long with that amazing bed you built. Can’t wait to see the dresser. Thanks for sharing
Just dscovered you recently when I was looking for videos on how to build drawers, install drawer slides, etc. I discovered your 4 videos on how to. Loved your easy instructions, and subscribed to your channel. Ordered your building instructions on building drawers. I look forward to 2024 following you. Wish you a Happy NewYear! I may getting braver in the future and try the Night Stand build!
Hi! Thanks so much for your purchase and support of my small business! I am so happy to hear you found those videos helpful. I hope you have a very happy new year and happy building!
Love the build and your creativity Shara! Can't wait to see what you have planned for the year. Keep warm, they are calling for up to 6 inches of snow here by Monday and I know you aren't far from here.
Great job as always Ms. Shara. I went back and watched your drawer build/install series . It takes a few times for things to sink in for me, so thank you for putting those into a series for us. 👍✌️
The nightstands look great! I always like you designs and everything you build looks so nice. Thanks for building and sharing this, especially in the frigid weather we have been experiencing.
Great video as always! Always a simple approach to your build projects, which I admire & personally appreciate. Thank you for always providing us with your best. I know you’ve mentioned people asking/questioning why you don’t show your sanding process or even your cutting process. I’d have to stay all that does is saves you from filming & editing time along with providing more time spent building & explaining when we can the sanding & cutting on all other 99% of woodworking channels. Basically saying there isn’t a need. Keep up the great work! Thank you
Well, I know I raved about the design of the storage bed, but these nightstands just knock it out of the park. I am not kidding when I say that, once you publish the dresser (looking forward to that!) you should seriously consider submitting this suite to some design competition or magazine or something... this whole set is a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality. "Elegantly simple." Things I love about the video itself: 1. the snazzy new animated logo intro, 2. the cool new subtitles with extra tidbits, 3. the unobtrusive way you integrated the sponsor bit, 4. some interesting new camera angles, 5. etc. etc. etc.... P.S. 6. Bubs, 7. Sock Monkey!!!!!!😁🤣😉 Happy New Year and welcome back!
Thank you much 🥰 you’re so kind. I’m glad you are enjoying the designs. Spoiler alert: after I made the dresser, I decided I wish I had done it another way so I may be building multiple versions of it eventually haha. 😅 So glad you let me know what you like about the videos-I’m constantly trying to tweak something here or there and I never really know what’s a good change vs a bad one. Also, I told you sock monkey hat would be back 😉😆 Happy new year and thank you so much for your support and encouragement on the channel. Truly, I appreciate it. Have a great weekend!
Happy new year! Thank you so much! It’s good to be back to building. But I sure am hoping spring comes quickly haha. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you have a great weekend!
Girl i love you frfr! I want to start doing diy projects for furniture at home. I have a problem with shopping and wanting sometimes not so budget friendly things lol and you are saving my life girl! And my finances 😅❤❤❤
Good to see you back : ) Another awesome build. Cant' wait to see the dresser. Where do you get those monster tubs of pocket hole screws? Happy building and Happy New Year!!
I really like the light colored stain. Dark stains seem very popular on woodworking channels but I think the light shades bring out the wood and work better in rooms. Thanks.
I'm actual about to build a set of end tables for my own bedroom and my plan was all plywood construction but I'm good I watched this because this design is lighter in weight and actually look better too
Haha I have zero plans for that, so you might have to wait a while 😅 I can’t stand working with my shop doors closed, and my cat and dog can’t either, so we just deal with it. It’s only really cold here a couple weeks of the year.
Well, I loved and made the mid century modern and the modern nightstands so I'll have to give this one a go. Your stands are my first builds and I'm using these to try different methods. Think I'll use dowels on this one. Thanks for the videos and plans!
I’ll have to try this! Add a second drawer to the bottom. Love your videos! I haven’t built anything, but I’m making a list of things I’ll need. Thank you!😊
Great video to start off the new year! The nightstands look great with the bed. Bubby was really being a camera hog today! I imagine Lucy was inside where it was warm since she has such short hair. Happy New Year to you and your family. I look forward to another year of your fun/informative video's and the dresser to match the bedroom set!
Shara, Happy New Year to you and what a wonderful project to kick it off. I built two night stands which we are still using but I have to tell you they took way longer to complete than yours probably did. Maybe I needed a Bubby for technical support. Barring that, I'd sure be buying your plans for a project like this because I've learned they really take a builder a long ways. It's been down to zero here making my unheated shop not so nice, but like you we expect some warmer temperatures. I understand you need a pause now and then to recharge and keep those creative juices flowing and it looks from that you're in full gear now. Hugs to Lucie and Bubby. Thanks for Sharing!
Happy New Year! i really admire how well you explain the process in all your builds. These nightstands are very stunning and add class to the bed. I enjoy all your videos and always look forward to each and every one of them. Thanks!
Well Happy New Year to you too Shara!! Long time no….well, watch! I’m sure I have a lot of videos to go back and watch (as I sure you are aware, I can’t seem to watch one of your videos without finding some reason the comment!). I like those nightstands though, so now I need to go watch the bed build, and wait for the dresser. On the real though, I’m glad I’ve found my back to your channel. I’ve had a lot going on with the VA and my disabilities from combat, as well as just being a soldier, but hey, that came with the job. Okay, I’m not going to ramble too much right here. It’s good to be back, and I’m going to enjoy catching up. 👍🏻.
I just finished your storage bed (plans purchased and very easy to follow!). My daughter absolutely loves the storage bed! Now to build the nightstand to go with it! Can't wait to get started!! What app do you use to design your plans and layouts? I have some future projects I would like to design myself and lay out everything before i start the build! :)
Happy New Year Shara !!🎆🎇🧨✨🎈🎉🎊 I hope that the New Year has been good to you so far :).😀 That was an awesome build !!👍 As an ex-pro carpenter, I still learn things from your builds :).😉😊 I can't find any cabinets to fits the spaces the way I want.🙄 I have decided this summer to throw all of my IKEA cabinets out and use your plans to build what I want.😬 Thank you so much my friend for sharing !!🙏
Happy new year! Hope yours is off to a good start as well! So happy to hear you enjoy the projects 😊 Isn’t that always how it seems to work-there’s never anything store bought that checks all the boxes. I’m glad it’s not just me 🙈😆 good luck with the build! I think you’ll be happy with your own custom cabinets when you’re finished! Have a great weekend!
@@WoodshopDiaries Thanks !!😊 Yep, it never fails...😁 You just end up with a house full of clumpy furniture.🙄🥴 Not anymore, I am done LOL.🏳✔ Thanks for the inspiration :).⛑ You too !!
Shara: Another great build!! Always enjoy your projects. I've bought several of your plans and am in the middle of building your 2 drawer filing cabinet. I did notice that, for this project, rather than using pre-cut 2/2's you ripped a 2x4 (I assume at premium 2x4). As a 'newbie" woodworker I'm struggling with the curves and twists I'm finding in 2x2's How have you dealt with that? Would you now recommend the method you used in this project. Rip a premium 2x4 to get a straighter 2x2 board. Thanks!
Hi! Thanks so much for your purchase and support of my small business! Yes I almost always rip my own 2x2s. You can learn more about why and how here: www.woodshopdiaries.com/woodworking-tips-square-edges-make-your-own-2x2s/
Hello, thank you very much for the informative video. Did you replace the slides with bottom mount slides? It appears at time mark 11:46 the sides are bottom mount type. thank you.
Those look great. Did you consider doing oak panels vs plywood? I know pricing in plywood has been coming down, but wonder if solid wood be comparable?
I didn’t consider it. One reason: wood movement considerations. Second reason: glue up time to make the panels. Third reason: it’s SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper (at least where I live) for hardwood plywood than solid hardwood. A 3/4” sheet of red oak is about $88 and the equivalent amount of lumber (4’x8’) in, for example, 1x6s would be roughly $575.
Haha nooooo! I love trying to break them down as simply as possible so they’re NOT as intimidating. Don’t let them scare you-they’re just boxes 😉 if it helps, I have a whole playlist here detailing how to measure, build, and install drawers: ruclips.net/p/PLZXlzM3gc_U2VAcejawDXcsSU6pm4PESL&si=Pcwwz5SRhT8FwtMd
Hello Ma’am. I came across your video trying to find helpful ideas for building night stands. I want to ask you where you buy your lumber in your area. Big box store, lumber yard, online, ect..?
Hi! I buy it at Home Depot or local building suppliers. This article goes into detail about what I buy from where: www.woodshopdiaries.com/how-to-buy-lumber/
@ I appreciate you’re response. I live in a rural area of Farmington and with the exception of framing lumber I don’t know what I’m doing with furniture wood. I’ll check out your link. Thank you!
I know you have no use of it just yet but would be over the moon if you show us how to build a craft table for kids! Kind of like the pottery barn one but with Shara’s special design
Hi! I’m not sure what pottery barn one you’re talking about, but I’ve shared two kids craft tables in the past you might like: www.woodshopdiaries.com/how-to-build-a-kids-play-table-and-chairs/ And www.woodshopdiaries.com/kids-diy-nesting-table/
“Not strong” isn’t a measurement. That’s subjective. MDF may work fine for some applications and not work great for others. It really depends on what you’re using it for whether it’s a good choice of material. Personally I don’t like MDF so I don’t use it in much of anything. My experience with it is very limited.
I've bought a few of the plans. She is not lying; they are very well done and easy to follow.
Hi! Thanks so much for your purchase and support of my small business! So happy you enjoy them!

Sharas voice makes Saturday mornings so relaxing 🎉❤

Hi! Thanks so much for your purchase and support of my small business! I appreciate the feedback and so happy to hear you enjoyed them!
Your projects are so awesome. They give me dangerous urge to buy thousands dollars worth of tools and do this in my small apartment hahaha
Beautiful!!!! And I love when the kitty suddenly pops up ❤️❤️
Great project. I love how simple it is. But it doesn’t look simple. It’s a great piece of furniture.
I've just recently come across your channel, and every video I've seen has been great and to the point. A refreshing change to some of the other videos out there

Nice touch having the small shelf up high for books so you can keep books from cluttering the actual top. 👍🏻

These are just exactly what she’s had in mind but unable to find a pair anywhere, looks like you’ve bagged a new sub 🩷🙏💪
Not anymore, I am done LOL.🏳✔
Thanks for the inspiration :).⛑
You too !!
Great projects. great content, and a new sub, now treat yourself to a heated work space. PS, love your design aesthetics!
I am fan ! Who built two outdoor chairs from your plans. Do you have outdoor storage project?
Great video!
How do you keep your pieces from moving when using pocket holes? I always struggle with them.
Little known fact, cat fur strengthens wood clue 😊
You know what? I believe it 🤣 this cat had finally found a way to contribute something useful ha!
Does the cold effect your staining?
You do not always use table saw, are you still able to get precise cuts that are sufficiently straight/square?
It appears at time mark 11:46 the sides are bottom mount type. thank you.
I didn’t. I used side mount slides. That’s what’s installed on the drawers at the end of the video on the finished project.
NEVER IGNORE BUBBY!!!! 🤣😂🤣🐈
He makes it quite impossible 🤣
Do you make your own dowels? And nice build on those nightstands!
No I buy my dowel pins. They’re linked in the video description.
Great!
@@WoodshopDiaries thanks. Answers my question!
Eres maravillosa 😍
Do you sell what you make? I'm looking for some gray night stands
awesome
Thanks so much! Have a great weekend!
Are the drawers your favorite because they're so intimidating to others? I'm afraid of them, kinda. LOL!!!
Thank you so much!!@@WoodshopDiaries
Bubs 😻😻😻😻
Hello Ma’am. I came across your video trying to find helpful ideas for building night stands. I want to ask you where you buy your lumber in your area. Big box store, lumber yard, online, ect..?
Hi! I buy it at Home Depot or local building suppliers. This article goes into detail about what I buy from where: www.woodshopdiaries.com/how-to-buy-lumber/
@ I appreciate you’re response. I live in a rural area of Farmington and with the exception of framing lumber I don’t know what I’m doing with furniture wood. I’ll check out your link. Thank you!
Great job on those nightstands!! I hope you install a heater out in your shop soon!!😂 (Not that your monkey hat isn't useful..)😅
Is your shop heated? How cold is it?
It’s not heated. I don’t want it to be because I work with the doors open 😄
Roughly how many cm or mm is the plywood please :)
I know you have no use of it just yet but would be over the moon if you show us how to build a craft table for kids! Kind of like the pottery barn one but with Shara’s special design
Hi! I’m not sure what pottery barn one you’re talking about, but I’ve shared two kids craft tables in the past you might like: www.woodshopdiaries.com/how-to-build-a-kids-play-table-and-chairs/

Hi, any idea why no sound on the video unless I open it? Thank you.
Hi! That’s just how RUclips does it. It plays without sound until you click to watch it.
I noticed you use gorilla glue, is that a better choice over regular wood glue ???
It’s gorilla WOOD glue. Not gorilla glue. It’s my favorite.
How much will this sell for if sold and at what profit?
Not sure. I don’t sell my projects
I heard that MDF is not strong, what does that really mean? It seems a lot stronger than card board.
“Not strong” isn’t a measurement. That’s subjective. MDF may work fine for some applications and not work great for others. It really depends on what you’re using it for whether it’s a good choice of material. Personally I don’t like MDF so I don’t use it in much of anything. My experience with it is very limited.
