      The wwe basically took responsibility for his dimension, without openly saying it, by going pg. They know those chair shots and diving headbutts were the cause. They started serious drug testing (although part timers still use), and restricted many dangerous moves. Benoit deserves his spot in wwe history, gave up everything for the fans.

    • @ItsTheMunz
      @ItsTheMunz 2 года назад +16

      @Various Artists what do you mean by planned? Like planned during those dark days where he committed the acts? Or like planned for weeks/months before he did it? And with that in mind then, what do you make of the behaviour patterns he exhibited leading up to that weekend that point to paranoia and delusional behaviour?
      I certainly think he did it, primarily because the family accepts he did it. Fans are in some semblance of denial because based on the evidence presented to the public, we were given an extremely incomplete evidence batch as to how the police concluded it was a murder/suicide so quickly. Frankly it looks like a lot of sloppy police work was done in the case and even sloppier reporting.
      There absolutely HAD to be something present at the scene (likely his journal entries) for the police to reach that conclusion within 24-48hrs like they did.

I’m not saying we should “forgive” Benoit, just look at the situation a bit more dispassionately, and try to get the story as straight as we can. Thank you for making this. Its good to see wrestling RUclips, specifically you, covering Benoit in the way that you do. If Benoit never did what he did, these big matches that he was a part of, like this one, would be talked about forever.
    The one thing I'll always think of, after seeing the DSOTR (Dark Side Of The Ring) episode on Benoit, and videos like this and the other Benoit videos you've done, or videos not specifically about Benoit but mentioning him (mostly the Reliving the War ones), is that I hope Benoit and Eddie Guerrero have found each other in the afterlife, back together like they always were when they were alive. And it also makes me wonder, if Eddie didn't pass away, would Benoit have gotten the help he needed thanks to Eddie? Personally, I think he would have, Eddie was his closest friend, and as the DSOTR episode talked about, Benoit knew something was wrong and was trying to get the help he needed, but without Eddie, it sadly didn't happen. Sure, Chris's health would probably deteriorate anyway, and he might still have passed away, but at least he and his family wouldn't have all died that fateful weekend.

    When it comes to epic Wrestlemania main events, i can't think of any that delivered better than the triple threat world title match at Wrestlemania 20, you had so much history and storytelling going in from Chris Benoit's 18 year journey to the personal rivalry of Triple H vs Shawn Michaels.
    For me from a wrestling point of view, it was as good as anything you will ever see with all 3 wrestlers giving everything they had and it featured one of those rare moments where you saw the right person not only go over but truly deserved to win the big one. It was an emotional moment.
    The shot of Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero holding both world titles to close the show was one of the greatest endings in Wrestlemania history, i understand and respect why this match isn't talked about for obvious reasons but it still doesn't take anything away from the fact that this was a true wrestling classic.

He won the Royal Rumble, coming in first and going all the way until the end. I felt that by including Shawn, they were showing that they didn’t trust Benoits ability to draw, or/and it was gonna be a way for Chris to win the title without pinning Triple H. I was also tired of Shawn vs Hunter.

    What Benoit did outside of the ring was a horrible and unforgivable thing, but it doesn't diminish his ability inside it. There is nothing wrong with speaking Benoit's name or praising his accomplishments inside the ring. Benoit is certainly not the first wrestler to kill someone, nor will he be the last. Jimmy Snuka was put in the Hall of Fame despite it being common knowledge that he beat a woman to death. Scott Hall is a multiple time Hall of Famer, and he has killed someone. We should never forget his actions, but that does not mean that we cannot acknowledge how talented he was in the ring.

    It's such a heartbreaker that it will never be promoted/acknowledged today. I was 13 in 2004 at the time of WMXX and I can honestly say i believe it's definitely one of the greatest WM moments of all time. A great act from all 3 men involved in the build up and match.
    P.s we were all tired of Hunter vs HBK and it was definitely refreshing to see Benoit get added and have his well deserved and overdue push at the time. I agree the main event at WM should traditionally be one on one but I believe there should be no regrets about letting the main event of WMXX be this triple threat match.
