I have watched so many videos about using Google classroom and yours is the first that actually makes sense. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the look into your Google Classroom! I'm looking at maybe trying to use it for some assignments for my 12yo, so this was helpful.

You might make me a beliver in google classroom again! So I had our subjects as topics when we tried using it in the past and it was to confusing. But doing it week by week and the colors for the days of the week are just genius!

Like you a started with topics as subjects... it was a hot mess! I wish I could take full credit, but I learned about the topics as weeks from another RUclipsr (unfortunately I can't remember who). It was a game changer!

This was sooo helpful! Question: If I set up assignments by course (like Science) and then duplicated them into a list for the day/week which was actually assigned to her. Once they are completed could I move them back into the the Science topic for example.

I'm so glad you found it helpful! Would you be duplicating it to keep a blank copy for future use, or do you just want to move it and move it back? Either way, I do believe you can move assignments once they are complete, but I'm not 100% sure. If you would rather have things by topics, I would suggest creating a different class for each topic. On her end she will be able to see all of the classes at once and complete the assignments assigned for each. And you would not have to worry about shuffling things around all of the time. There is no limit to how many class you can create. Hope that was helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions, or if you would like to see another video. Thanks for watching!

I tried using google classroom unsuccessfully a few times. Too time consuming. I am planning a unit with my niece who lives out of state and my kids so I’m thinking of trying to bring it back again. I do have an older learner that I want to foster independence I have not entirely figured out the best way. I think I probably need to sit down with her and come up with something for her next school year. I currently use a happy planner type set up but I create my own pages where I list weekly lessons/subjects and then sticker or stamp what actually gets completed. This works well for my 2 school age children. As far as getting it all done I try loop scheduling for the extras, I also allow for them to have days where if they are excited about a topic we just go with that and throw the schedule out.

Google Classroom can be time consuming. I really wish there was an easier way to repeat a lesson daily. Maybe one day. But for now it works for us.
Love your tip about tossing the schedule and focusing on something fun for the day! We have done that in the past and it has been very fun!

How do you link Math-U-See videos and assignments? Is it through the digital toolbox or do you just post the link?

We've used a combo of assignments that I just copied each day, and then just having a shortcut link the webpage on the computer desktop.

How are you saving your key to reuse?

I typically just pull up the video for my middle daughter right now. We haven't started her on too much electronic stuff yet. For my oldest when she was using it, I just made a short cut on the desktop. I would just have an assignment that I copied each day she needed to do Math. I just changed the lesson each week.
