  • Recently, Google announced that Google domains has been sold to Squarespace. I, like many, do not want to have my domains registered by Squarespace. I explored some other options and have decided to go with Cloudflare. Transferring to Cloudflare is slightly more involved than a traditional domain registrar, so I made this video to help anyone in a similar position.

does cloudflare manage the google workspace properly? i assume the MX records still pointing to google will still have it work?

I have Google workspace on a few domains and haven't had any issues. Just make sure the proper MX records transfer over to cloudflare and you should be good

Awesome, thanks. I went through the migration last night and pulled in my MX records, tested after and it works great. Only thing was I had to put a payment option on the Google workspace side I wasn't using domain anymore

So I let cloudflare grab the dns records. I still have downtime and it is hours later. I am slightly confused

Not sure exactly, without know more info. Did you swap out the nameservers?

I did change the name servers to the cloudflare ones. The transfer happen correctly, it just feels like dns is wrong. The MX records work

Did you have any caching or anything on the site?

No, It is a self hosted website. I am currently working through the tunnel solution with Daemon support. Although the config.yml I set up goes to the wrong application. I’m a little confused how to write the config to show all the services I want to expose because it sits in a kube cluster behind metallb and Traefik

Interesting, I've honestly never had self-hosted, so I'm not sure. I would think it would be similar, but idk. Keep me updated on what you find out!
