Just found about about Cloudflare. I didn't know they did domain registrations until google domains was sold to another higher priced upseller. I hope that this is a blessing.... we will found out.
Went with GoDaddy. Cloudflare makes me use their NS service which was a curse and blessing at the same time. I use pfsense, haproxy with stick tables and a bloat load of wan rules. Cloudflare has WAF rules which are nice but I already have what I need with pfsense. Pfsense users don't really need to pay additional funds for basic firewall rules. So I use their proxied IPS into my WAN rules along with my alias wan static IP. I was able to let cloudflare take the initial equipment hit from non usa IPS. All while increasing my throughput of my own hardware. System it guys will definitely use both because what happens when you're not on premise and in the cloud. So cloudflare got a lock on this market but good it guys can somewhat escape the added fees. I like it but when you do this everyday you become a security guard for each IP block. Keep this in mind if you put your domains here with cloudflare you will have no choice but to change NS unless you pay. On the flip side I can have my domains at ho'daddy but still use their NS.
Dude what a great video. One question, my domain is about to expire and I will switch to Cloudflare, I would like to know if the transfer price includes the renewal price or are two different prices. Thanks in advance for your answer.
Nice video, congratulations and thanks for sharing it! I'm having trouble to transfer from Wix to Cloudflare because Wix does not permit to change the DNS servers. Any workaround for this?
Hey, thanks for noticing! It's a reissue called the Throwback, and the signatures all AASI trainers (Rocky Mountain Instructors). I received it as an award for my service training and certifying snowboard instructors over the years. (From 1996 to 2016)
Dear Sir, Your tutorials really helps. In my opinion Cloudflare is the best DNS Management System providing each and every functionalities of DNS which other registrar don't provide. Sir, if i own a domain at another registrar ( For example: Namecheap) and want to transfer domain to Cloudflare, do i need to first add that donain ( site ) into Cloudflare. After domain has been added to Cloudflare successfully , then only we can proceed with the transfer of domain from another registrar to Cloudflare ? If we buy a new domain directly from Cloudflare, then i think we don't require these steps? Please guide me sir. With warm regards, Vivek Kumar ( Dehri On Sone, Bihar , India)
Hi Vivek, you are correct in everything you mentioned here. To transfer a domain to Cloudflare, you first need to add DNS from Cloudflare to the domain by pointing the Nameservers to CF from your original registrar. When you register a domain directly with Cloudflare, you don't need to do the Nameservers step. Gregg
Sir, in future Cloudflare may come up with Hosting services also.. They have come with: 1. Custom Emails Service. 2. Domain Registration. Gradually Cloudflare is improving and widespreading there services. What do you think sir ? Please do let me know. With warm regards, Vivek Kumar ( Dehri On Sone, Bihar, India)
I'm not sure they will offer actual servers, but it's possible. They would be getting on board competing with Digital Ocean, Vultr, Linode, Google Cloud, OVH, Hetzner, UpCloud, etc. I'm not sure they are going to do that.
does anyone tell me if the google domain transfer to cloudflare will I have to pay again?? but my plan in google didn't even expire it almost got 8 months remaining does it charge me on transferring three domain to cloudflare??!
You can successfully transfer within just one day, depending on your domain registrar. To be safe, I like to leave several days up to more than a week. Be careful about making changes to the domain at the original registrar, which would lock your domain fro 60 days and disable the ability to transfer ownership during that time. (like changing contact info.)
Hi Yassin, No, that will not change anything in your DNS, so your email will still be pointed correctly to Zoho. And the Zoho account wouldn't be deleted, even if you did change your DNS. You want to make sure the DNS records that Cloudflare is using still has MX records pointed to Zoho.
No. You do just the nameservers part and now you have all the benefits that cloudflare has to offer, like DDOS protection. This works by keeping godaddy as your registrar(transferring will make cloudflare your registrar), and cloudflare your DNS provider.

Thank you. It's really basic but only you put it out there and everyone is just skipping either adding website or transferring domain. Great job!

Great tutorial. It was really confusing for me since adding the DNS data is mandatory and I mistakenly was trying to skip it.
Thanks!!! well explained

Sir, do you. know if cloudflare offers Domain privacy, expiry protection, and SSL?
bill went from $30, to $10, godaddy is really rude increasing the price so much after you've registered a domain.
How many days before expiration date do you recommend making the transfer?
You can successfully transfer within just one day, depending on your domain registrar. To be safe, I like to leave several days up to more than a week. @@LeverageWP Thanks for the reply!... I changed the autorenewal option yesterday, would that activate the 60 day lock?
@@tonybp No, changing auto-renewal doesn't lock the domain. Also, "unlocking" the domain to enable transfer also does not lock the domain.
@@LeverageWP Great, I appreciate your help!
If I transfer my domain from Cloudflare account to a new Cloudflare account. Will Zoho account be deleted?
Please I need an answer 🙏🙏❤
Hi Yassin,
No, that will not change anything in your DNS, so your email will still be pointed correctly to Zoho. And the Zoho account wouldn't be deleted, even if you did change your DNS. You want to make sure the DNS records that Cloudflare is using still has MX records pointed to Zoho.
So Cloudflare forces you to transfer hosting to Cloudflare??
No. You do just the nameservers part and now you have all the benefits that cloudflare has to offer, like DDOS protection. This works by keeping godaddy as your registrar(transferring will make cloudflare your registrar), and cloudflare your DNS provider.
That's right - you aren't required to transfer domains to use Cloudflare free - but if you do, you can pay less than any other registrar I've seen.
