One step left out was unlocking the domain on Godaddy. If you don't do that the transfer won't take place. And some of the interfaces in godaddy have changed since this video was made. Some are in beta that allow you to switch back to the old interfaces. Then you can follow the video. But once godaddy takes them out of beta and makes them permanent, this video will be obsolete. Hope Wiyre makes a new one then.

Great tutorial. My only critique would be to add the restrictions to the beginning of the video. I purchased a domain recently and wanted to transfer. Started the process while watching your video and I got stuck because of it. I added a reminder to my calendar, but it would have saved me a bit of time if I knew. Thanks for putting the time into making this walkthrough though!

Thank you kindly for this video, sir. I'm a dev, and I have clients that want to move away from GoDaddy (because of their ridiculously high prices for hosting). Super helpful - thanks!

Nice video - spot on and very helpful. Question: Does Cloudflare now point to the Go Daddy Hosting or are there additional changes needed? If the A records in Cloudflare have the Go Daddy IP Address, does this connect the domain to the Go Daddy hosting plan?

Typically, transferring also renews your domain for another year, though exceptions exist.

Thank You Thank You Thank You!! Perfect video on how to transfer your domain to Cloudflare. I transferred from another registrar to cloudflare and was able to apply your steps for the trasnfer. Cloudflare should pay you for this tutorial. Better than anything Cloudflare has on their KB's. You should put a link on this video to send donations/gifts to you. I would love to contribute. Thanks again from NYC

It worked exactly the same and I am transferring from simpledomaintools. Those crooks raised all of my domains from 9.99 to 17.99 this month And I have 34 domains. You were a huge help.

Does this affect the actual hosting for live websites? I have a couple websites that are online. I want to transfer just the domains to cloudfare. I don't want to change the hosting for the websites.

    • @Wiyre

No, does not affect the hosting. Domain registrar is different from website host

Super helpful! Thank you so much for walking through this process with so much detail. Question: If the domain is forwarded to another URL, do I have to make that change inside CloudFlare once it's moved over? Or will that forward be carried over in the transfer process? I'm aware that the domain you move in this video doesn't have anything on it, so I'm wondering if I need to do something else if the domain is active with content and/or forwarded to a different URL. Thank you!

Hello my friend, do not laugh at me. I have currently 150 (!) domains on godaddy. Now i want to move ALL ... do you recommend cloudflare? I use a lot of Wordpress and want to sell some.. whois protection free is good... and I do not lose the time of registry etc. Any downsides? CDN will be good right, I am just confused why you recommend namecheap in description not Cloudflare

    • @Wiyre
      @Wiyre  3 года назад +2

I am sorry you are stuck at GoDaddy! Luckily, Cloudflare will save you LOTS of money in renewal fees. WHOIS protection is included at Cloudflare: developers.cloudflare.com/registrar/domain-registration/whois-redaction
It will take time, but it will be worth it.

@@Wiyre awesome quick reply. called their service and they tried to upsell the DOMAIN CLUB for 220$ a yeaa so renewal just costs 12 dollar :D:D:D:D Just imagine i would have bought. Ok i will move successviley over. I could not find a downside of cloudflare yet. just afraid they will be come costly as they are trading on stock exchange haha

    • @Wiyre

Godaddy is publicly traded too on the stock exchange - and I have more faith in Cloudflare than I do GoDaddy - best of luck!

@@Wiyre Hey thanks for the reply! Yes, I have a couple of domains in GoDaddy that will expire in about 30 days, I'm thinking a week before should be OK, right? I've also been told that GoDaddy makes it very hard for folks to transfer domains, locking them for 60 days for the silliest reasons.

Cloudflare or Google for Domain hosting? Which would you say? I heard lots of good things about both. And told that the domain hosting service can affect website performance and one should move away from their web host providers and domain host with either cloudflare or google who are two of the best. Do you know any of the differences?

Is it possible to change the name servers of the domain after transfer?

    • @Urbanette

Not unless you buy a plan, but you don't need to. You keep the cloudflare DNS and your host links to the cloudflare account, then you get all the great stuff that Cloudflare gives you for free.
