How to Transfer a Domain Name From One Registrar to Another EASY!

- Domain name transfers made easy. So how exactly do you transfer a domain from say GoDaddy to Namecheap or any domain name registrar for that matter? The process is easy and this is how transfer a domain. Checkout Namecheap davidutke.com/namecheap
Step 1 - Go to your current domain name registrar and unlock the domain name so it can be moved.
Step 2 - Find your authorization code or verification code for the domain name you want to move.
Step 3 - Go to the domain name registrar where you want to move the domain name. Find where it says "transfer domains."
Step 4 - Submit your information and payment. Then wait as it takes 3 to 7 business days for a domain name to be transferred from one registrar to another. Sometimes it's faster, sometimes it's slower.
Please note your domain name must be "eligible for transfer." Your domain can not be within 45 days of it's renewal nor can it be a newly registered domain that has been at the current registrar for under 60 days.
These are ICANN rules.

Thanks for the detailed guide. I see the price 8.58USD from namecheap. Does that include 1 year registration, or is that just the transfer price? If it is not included, how can we check the registration fee (say for 1 year) prior to making the transfer? Furthermore, if my domain has 1 month left before expiration and I transfer it, do I lose the remaining 1 month and must register for one separate year? Tks!

Thanks for great explantion but my situation is different I have domain name under registrar I was dealing with third part comapny which that created the domain and created all emails and i want to have the access into the domain admin acccount to be able to create emails and complete control over the domain
Thanks alot. I have done as instructed. But I am having problem with my Google index links. Most are showing warning signs as if my site is not secured, the links with out "www" from my old host (Namecheap), while the ones with" www" on godaddy do open and without problem.
Please I need help. As my old Google indexed links are mostly without "www" so they show 'site could not be reached or site not secured. '

2 questions-
The $8.58 you pay- does that then give you another year ownership of the domain (on top of any remaining time left)
Or do you have to pay again on the date of expiration (the expiration date you had at the previous host)?
Also the 45 days? Is that 45 days after the renewal date, or before the renewal date. (at the previous registrar).

does billing restart after transfering to new domain registrar? because perhaps I already paid for a year fee and then I should restart only prior to expiring that years paid dues.. makes sense ?
Makes sense, that is my question, too, but it seemed like you had to pay to renew according to the workflow he showed.

I like Namecheap personally, Dynadot is also a good choice.

No, I suggest anyone go with Namecheap and then pick their web host or website builder of choice.
I had a domain name registered through ClickFunnels. In order to transfer form CF, their instructions was to transfer to Dnsimple. Now my domain name is in dnsimple. I ultimately want to get that domain name with my other domains in Godaddy. How can I do that?

Yes, Shopify should allow you to point the nameservers to any service you want.

No, all settings should update at your new registrar. But always double check.

Never heard of Big Cartel. In general, use a domain name registrar for all your domains. Then it's no problem moving that domain name for different services. So if I was you, I would transfer to Namecheap.

So I think I screwed up everything. I could not transfer my domain from GoDaddy to Weebly (where I've built my new website). GoDaddy was no help. So they suggested transferring somewhere else. So I went with Namecheap and succeeded. Then I read that Namecheap does not support transferring domains outside of its own name server infrastructure. Does that mean I'm screwed and cannot transfer my domain to Weebly? Or anywhere else? If yes, why would you recommend Namecheap without make that clear?
I would never keep my domains at weebly. I use Namecheap personally for all my domains.
