Great video. I have a specific need. I have a WordPress site that is on a well-known hosting company. The issue is that the WordPress is driven from an Open Source configuration of the hosting company not the WordPress specific of that hosting company. Do you know how to transfer the site to the WordPress section? Essentially I am working within a hosting company and not migrating a WordPress site from one hosting company to another. Advice would be most appreciated.

Hi Adam, thanks for your amazing topics and tutorials, as a beginner in this business,I have a domain with godaddy with "https"" and I want to move it to shopify, but direct transferring is not possible because the 60 days of purchasing time limit is not over yet it's only 32 days. I can redirect the domain or make an extension by ...shopify, my question is : Which way is better until I can release my domain name? Thank you Adam, just transferred 2 domain names from Godaddy to namecheap. Godaddy is the WORST! They screwed me so bad I had to contact the Better Business Bureau 🙄. Anyway, moving everything away. @@WPCrafter Adam, I love your videos and your smooth style, you are amazing, yet the 2 domain names I transferred, the websites were unexpectedly down the other day. I followed your transfer instructions. There was no mention about creating an MX Record. It took 2 hours of phone calls to get it set. I don't even want to tell you about the hours I spent getting my email running again. Didn't know I had to add 2 A Records, 2 TXT Records, 5 CNAME Records, 2 SRV Records, and some other configurations. 🙈
@@MatthewFurman Well what's odd there is all those records are usually with your web hosting provider which manages your DNS records. So it looks like you had your DNS with GoDaddy. Sorry to hear about the trouble.

I am confused? I just signed up to site ground after hosting with godaddy for over 19 years and I have both my domain name and hosting on godaddy but want to move everything over before my godaddy account is set to renew in two months so I can just close down that account. What is the process of moving my website and attached domain to site-ground so I can manage all in one place?

Adam, I want to transfer my names to Namecheap but also my two websites to a new host. Both are through a well known hosting site that I have used for many years but that has changed mightily in recent times. Should I first move the domains to Namecheap and the migrate sites or migrate sites (to Siteground) and the register the names to Namecheap. I am prepared to possibly having the sites down for a few days. Thanks for your help through RUclips and any suggestions (including sending me to a pertinent video) , but I could not find one.

Now, i want to start building my website using Wordpress platform and I've decided to use A2 hosting to host my website. I want to know if I do the domain name transfer from Weebly to A2 hosting will my Weebly site stop working once the transfer takes effect. The reason is I still want to keep my Weebly site till 5/1/2019 while I work on my new WordPress site.

If you buy an available domain for the sole purpose of selling it, do you need to register it / "store" it at a place like Namecheap?

I just subscribed lol I'm trying to transfer from a Squarespace platform to Wordpress. I'm so impatient lol I know it cost money, but it's aggravating to have already purchased a domain name and how to keep it going. It has been active well over 60 days and I obtained the transfer key...but now I feel stuck on the DNS part of Squarespace....I've watched a few other tutorials and am mediocre "tech-savvy." I just want to switch over my domain as easily and cheaply as possible. I've already transferred and exported my content. Thank you for your videos!
I know if you are transferring it to something like Go Daddy, you can call them and get help.

It sounds like your domain name is at Squarespace, so you'd want to transfer it and order web hosting with a web hosting provider. Keep in mind that you can't necessarily move your data out of Squarespace. So hopefully you didn't have a lot of content into that locked system.

Hi Adam...what reason would someone want to transfer a domain name to begin with? Is it purely an economic decision?
This is a great question and there really isn't a reason to move them around. What typically happens is someone might have multiple domain names at multiple locations so at some point to make it easier to manage they'll move those domain names all to the same company.

Thanks for the detailed guide. I subscribed. Today I see the price 8.58USD from namecheap to transfer. Does that include 1 year registration, or is that just the transfer price? If it is not included, how can we check the registration fee (say for 1 year) prior to making the transfer? If i asked him to transfer the domain, does he can control the domain after he transfer it? Or there will be no control for him from the old registrer?
The old developer will not have access to the domain once it has been transferred to your new registrar.

You need to make sure that you control the domain name and the hosting is in your name.
Great tutorial except for ONE thing! I STILL do not understand how to transfer the actual OWNERSHIP! This is about the 10th video I have watched that clearly says it will tell me how to transfer to another PERSON. I totally get how to "transfer", but WHEN do you change the owner name information?? I cannot find this information anywhere! For goodness sake, you would think that info would be available somewhere.
