I have a base TLX 2018 V6 Sh-awd, it was from the CPO Section during the Pandemic.. No issues with the recalls so far, and I havent even brought it in for recalls unless the problem appears later on. Then, I will still have access to the remedy at no cost. Bought it at 32k mileage. Now, it's just under 75k mileage from 4 years of ownership, snow and everything. Just did a transmission and transfer fluid change at 74K. Along with Oil change just for fun. Replaced spark plugs at 65k just for fun. I replaced old ROTORS AND PADS with new OEM rotors and pads after 1 year of ownership. For some reason, the old rotors were warped causing the vibrations when braking (This was my biggest cost on repairs since owning the car). Since then, the past three years of ownership the new rotors havent warped yet. Such a relief, i think people just suck at driving, and cause rotors to warp based on their shitty braking reflexes. It feels really good to press on the brakes at high speeds now. Painted my calipers so the rust doesnt affect it in the long run. I did flush brake fluid when it was due. So far, it's still my baby. Nowadays, I joy ride that boy like there's no tomorrow out on the roads, and it's still kicking. Such a beautiful, naturally aspirated V6. That being said, it's an underrated vehicle. Very reliable, just keep up on the maintenance. Dont wait, just do it early. When my mileage hits around 90k I plan to change timing belt along with everything needed in that service. I dont wait around for things to deteriorate at the last second. Always stay on top, and your car will always be at it's happiest. Never seen a single check engine light on this Acura. Do I recommend this car? Only for someone who wants a luxury that's reliable. But it's definitely not the fastest car out there because of the weight. But it beats most cars on the road even with SH-awd. Besides, I ride motorcycles, there's no better speed than that. I do reccomend this car, but make sure you know the maintenance needed to be done that the previous owners didnt get to take care of. Regarding the STOP AND START. That's some garbage stuff.. For the past 4 years of ownership, I've gotten used to *everytime i get in my TLX press the button to turn it off* whoever came up with that STOP AND START garbage needs to be fired immediately. Even today they still run that bullshit in their new TLX's. Just sad. That shit really fucks up your starter.
Just on the start/stop, you can order a idlestopper module or similar and can be simply installed by removing the trim and connect it to the button wires. It's a pain that you can't disable it in the settings because it causes issues for the starter and battery.
Honda sucks at making brakes. I'm on my 5th Honda car, and every one previous to this has had the issue you described. California and environmentalism are to blame for your idle stop as well as your vcm.
Congrats bro, i just bought my own 2 weeks ago, 2020 TLX A spec red interior and else with 39 miles on it, I'm the 2nd owner now, super well kept, i check on the Recalls before purchase and all, everything is clear, just looking forward to giving him the best attention, did my homework about them pros and cons , still learning about them , sounds , performance and everything , loving it so far!
@yaoalodjinou9671 well bro , i been loving the car , comfort , technology, comfort and power , they have they pros and cons , looks good and runs beatiful , plus the ELS acura surround sound system is amazing , check them on recalls to find a lucky one , cause those recalls are quite strong like rod bearing , but acura is responsable enough to take care of that right away , i check that out before buying and he was clear lf everything, he is good on gas and very silent on cabin etc., the j35y6 engine is lovely and has a lot of power , i was trying to find a replace to upgrade my 6 speed EX-L coupe accord another great machine by itself and i been really glad of the decision
@@JohnnyBluebeam A lot of unique stuff underrated about this car and Acura period. That Super handling is the best or top 3 awd systems in the world on a car.
@@RevsALot Everybody hate Acura till they drive the top of the line one lol. My homeboy was like this cant keep up with a standard v6 charger then I raced one with him inside my car and he 200 lbs plus and he changed his opinion quickly 🤣
I have the 2019 Base v6, and i like that it dont have that engine off system while stopped. Also, like the 18inch rims , less dents from potholes than having a bigger rim.
I own a 2018 TLX ASPEC SHAWD V6 w/Anthracite Gray Metallic, Red interior. It’s the best car I have ever owned. I leased it brand new and decided to keep it. It has 39k miles. I want to get an MDX TYPE S ADVANCE but currently it has no appeal or updates that I feel are any better than my TLX. I love my TLX.
@David-tf3zr ou nice! I love that color and Spec. They are great cars, I'd love to see ppl start going fbo tune with them, and would love to see a trans tune become available to really show it's true potential. They are amazing daily even stock though, greats styling, sound and MPG.
After owning my 2020 Acura TLX A-spec V6, one thing I would like to mention is the paddle shift response. When the transmission is cold, the response of the paddles are really slow as the video said. Although, once you drive the car for a bit and let the transmission warm up, shifts become a lot more responsive. Downshifts and upshifts are pretty much instant when transmission is up to temperature. Almost feels as responsive as a DCT.
@TheYellowChunky imo not even close, even when warmed up it takes forever. For the SH-AWD anyways, maybe the FWD is different. I drove the 4cyl with the DCT and the paddles are way quicker, still not as quick as other DCT though. The downshifts are pretty quick, but you can't quickly downshift multiple gears it takes a little time. Just downshifting one gear though it's pretty much instant
@@RevsALot I have the V6 SH-AWD with the 9 speed ZF transmission. I do agree that if you try to downshift gears back-to-back it is kinda slow. I kinda have to wait like half a second to a second between shifts in order for the next downshift to be instant. Weird that you aren't experiencing the same upshifts as me. Whenever the transmission is warm and I upshift through the gears, it shifts pretty much instantly for me. Although, if I accelerate very slowly then upshifts are kinda slow even when temperatures are warm. Have you tried doing a transmission reset? I did it when I first got the car and started driving the car aggressively so that the car learns and adapts to that driving style.
Hey boss, long time fan. Im interested on purchasing a first gen tlx sh awd but im hesitant due to the recalls and issues with the transmission. What advice could you provide when looking into one of these bad boys?
@dreag8579 the recall isn't a wry, cause that means they're fixing the issue. The only issues with trans were more from 2015-17 model...you're safe with 2018+, 2019-2020 would be your best bet. Just make sure it was well maintained and do trans fluid changes every 50k miles or so to keep it running tip top.
@@RevsALot Yeah it was funny I went in for an oil change mainly and just wanted them to look at fluttering rpms on UPSHIFT. Turned out I needed a new transmission, i didnt complain haha. The new transmission is definitely better and feels different than the original so maybe i had a bad one. Replaced around 64K miles
@leroyjenkins-vc7kr damn, well at least you got it fixed before warranty ran out. I'd love to mod ours, but the wife won't let me😂. Oh well, guess I'll never know the full potential of these.
@@RevsALot haha thats ok, I dont think your missing out on much without modding. There isnt much support for our car anyways, even less for the SHAWD version, Ktuner and exhaust is probably going to be best mods
@leroyjenkins-vc7kr nah you can do everything to the TLX you can to the TL...ported tb, runners, manifold, bigger injectors, 4" CAI, full catless exhaust
Does shifting your car from park to reverse, reverse to drive, or vice versa delay? I have heard many ppl saying this model lags pretty bad (not sure about the 2021+ TLX), especially in emergent situations where the car can't react fast enough which can be dangerous.
If by delay you mean half a second, then yah. I'd say it takes about as long to go from park to D after pressing the button as it would to pull down a lever from park to D and vice versa...the 2016 model we test drove was slower and clunky I found though. 2018+ seems faster
@@RevsALotThanks, half a sec would be reasonable if that's the case. I think I will need to give one a test drive to find out. I was watching this guy reviewing the 2020 TLX and the time stamp at around 2:35, the delay he got from park to drive looks a bit too long to me: ruclips.net/video/SfRxI2VF3WU/видео.htmlsi=28oNQsFv4LZ654Om
@ceylonunique3045 that seems long in that video, I can make a video with this one and see...I.never noticed tbh, like I said it's no slower then an actual shifter imo. You get used to it and I've never noticed it lol. Even my Q50 if you pull the shifter quickly you still have to slightly wait till you feel it lock in.
@@RevsALot ok that’s much better then. I just think that no other cars at this price range would match the TLX, the look, with a V6, spacious trunk space, etc., so definitely don’t wanna see this potential laggy issue to bug me too much making a decision. And yea if you could make a video on that one it would be very helpful.
@ceylonunique3045 I'll try to get one up maybe tmr night. I would recommend going to test drive one, and bring it for a long test drive and do all different speed pulls, cornering acceleration, expirement with the paddles. The best thing it got going is the sound, looks, mpg, and reliability imo.
Just try to make sure it was maintained, oil changes down regularly. Check to see if they did the engine recall yet. Also, always good to get a fresh trans mission fluid change before or after purchase.
Great video! My first car ever was a 2011 TSX that I LOVED!! I thought about going another direction for my next car, but I think this Aspec is the way to go!
I do own a 2020 A-Spec Shawd. Have you had any front end vibrations issues with yours? I've had vibrations with he steering and the front end between 1300 and 1600 rpm no matter what speed. Kind of shows up when the transmission is about to shift speed when I accelerate very slowly... It's either a tranny issue or the engine mounts...
Sorry this is a month late, i read another comment on another post saying it was something to do with the crankshaft, ended up needing a whole new motor put in. Hope yours is still driving alright!
Hey there it's def the crankshaft. I noticed it on my 2020 shawd after 1 year maybe 10k miles in and documented it and brought it to my dealer and they warrantied it. They put me in a 2022 tlx for a few months while I got a new short block lol. This was prior to them recalling the issue tho, I think there's a shortage of the parts needed for the fix nowadays.
Handling is awesome, better stock for stock the my 4G SH-AWD I found! To get the best out of the handling, you have to be higher rpms, and harder on the throttle to make the SH-AWD work its magic.
thankss my family always has an mdx or rdx in the fleet but i want a sedan, just wondering if this generation still has that sharp shawd feeling the current gen also has.@@RevsALot
They also said if they did sell the TLX like that it would cost over $450k US lol. It's not the same transmission, it's also about 1k lbs. Lighter then the regular TLX SH-AWD. Only thing it shares is the same engine, just like the NSX also has the 3.5.
@aspecreviews it's still J35 with different internals made to reliably handle 600 hp...that TLX at 600 on stock motor will not reliably handle that power for many years, unlike the NSX
It's the worse thing ever for most ppl, constantly stopping and starting especially in stop and go traffic. It also has the delay while it starts before you can take off, extremely annoying.
@@RevsALot I'm used to hybrids, my daily is an '02 Prius. I don't notice much of a delay on my grandpa's RDX, if I need to take off quick I just mash the torque-request pedal to the floor. The Prius has that instantaneous EV torque, so there are no delay issues.
Hey man, Great video. I’m thinking about buying a 2018 A-Spec awd v6 with clean title 45k miles on it for 23k (us) but i’m not sure if it’s worth it. It hasn’t been brought in yet for the recall but it apparently has no issues and is still under warranty for another 15 months. I’m not sure if this is a good deal or if I should just look for a 2021 acura tlx 2.0 with tech package with about the same mileage maybe 10k more. I’m still in school so i need something that will give me the least amount of problems! Which do you think would be the best option? Thanks!
My opinion the only better thing with the 2.0t is the mod potentional and the 10spd. Looks, sound I'd go with the 3.5 Aspec all day. Test drive both and see what you think. I have older video trying the 2.0t TLX and I hated the sound so much.
i would recommend you save your money if you are still in school until you are making consistent money. Then you wouldn't have to worry about financial constraints in regards to reliability.
@RevsALot I just got the new one as a loaner getting recall done on my 18. I do like how it accelerates faster at start but at the end the 18 v6 wins. I wouldn't trade I like how it's a bigger body then new one
Was thinking of copper rims as well....have a red one but wanting to change up the color, thoughts on the red? The fog light housing is the same material as the grill housing so yes.
I kno this is a vid about the tlx but I have a question about the 4th gen tl. I have the fwd model and im currently in the market for a j pipe. Does the shawd j pipe fit the fwd model?
I been around the Acura since the 2nd gen Legend. By far the best looking and selling sedan for Acura is the 3G TL. 4G TL was a step back on the looks department but added 3.7 SHAWD and keep the 6 MT. The only down size was gas mileage. 1st Gen TLX was a total disappointment for me, interior and exterior design was way lazy even compare to a 4G TL. The biggest issue i had is that ZF9 follow by cheap interior even the Aspec and Advance package (US model). Hell I remember in 2018 I walk in the dealership and they had a blue with red interior with sticker price of $45k "non negotiable". We end up taking a 2017 NSX for test drive. fast forward 2023 TLX isn't really up to competition in term of techs and specs. 2023 still wired carplay and android auto, no HUD unless you go for Advance trims. Performance is abysmal low compare to other competitor. Build quality is straight trash from factory and how the cooperate handle complaint is beyond me. E.G the rod bearing "contact us for VIN illegibility" lol so Acura got to decided who cover and who doesn't? They build the vehicle should they able to provide a VIN range that affected? I gave Acura the last benefit of doubts by test drove not 1 but 2 different TLX Type S earlier this year. 0-80 MPH the car shifting 4 time (giving impression of fast) but any guy been driving decent performance know it far from "fast". During test drive notice dash, steering wheel rattle (on a brand new 2023 production car), fender is mis-alighted with hood and headlight. Price? $67,000 with AMD and accessory installed. Again non-negotiable price... Mind you in today market at $67k is approaching a used G80 M3 Comp and a 2015+ GTR. so at $55k it fail to catch a Kia Stinger GT and got pretty much gapped by any other 6 Cylinder turbo charge car that are 7 years old or less..... Infiniti Q50/60 RS, Audi S4, MB 45 AMG, BMW M340i. Hell even outdated motor Lexus IS500 can easily dusted "high performance Type S" Fake engine noise is pretty bad, Auto up shift in Sport+ manual is super lame oh did I mentioned it shifted at 6k despite the redline at 6200? SHAWD no longer top dog, they may be the best for the money since Evo is now long gone and only Subbie STI left, if you ever had a chance to drive a G80 M3 Comp Xdrive and Audi S4 you will see easily see why. As far as reliability goes, BMW has step up their game with B58/S58 combo with ZF8 and it been proven reliable and best performance for the job. Meanwhile Acura put a limp mode in their 355 HP SHAWD to prevent drivetrain damage is pretty lame. You got Canadian specs where rear seat is heated that not the case for the US model, you guy also has option with 360 back up cam in the A-spec where the US A-spec model is not available.
I agree with the looks on 3rd Gen, but that's cause they got lazy with the 4G. They didn't give it brembo brakes or nice waffle style wheels like the 3rd gen, way too much chrome, and even inside the pedals aren't as nice seats are comfy af, but Type S seats looks better. Now once the 4G is built correctly with Aspec, nice wheels/brakes, quad tips, chrome delete I personally like the 4G more with the wide agressive stance and the new NSX Style rear. Paired with 6MT and SH-AWD makes it one of the funnest Acuras to drive other than NSX. I think the 2021 TLX Aspec and Type S are one of the nicest looking sedans from the outside. Every brand has issues, especially when selling a bunch, but I've never had bad customer service from Acura. The Type S isn't the fastest, but sounds the best imo. Loots of room for improvement once the trans and ECU get unlocked for tuning. It's a new platform where the other ones have been out for a while. SH-AWD in snow and uphill snow has been proven way better then any Xdrive. The FWD bias makes it so good in the snow compared to my Q50. Acura and Lexus is for buyers who like nice styling and don't care so much about crazy performance imo.
@@RevsALot at least Infiniti and Lexus did take 5 years develop a platform only to got gapped by a Kia... in stock vs stock form. I am a semi OG 3G TL owner myself, most of the guy in old days are sitting with GTR, G80 and GT3 RS now. I have no snow to worry here in Texas lol, I almost bought a 2020 M340i RWD but ultimately settled for a slower car. But it came with a sweet sound track.
@truonghthe can't really compare Acura or Lexus to GTR and 200k Porsche. A Kia does not gap a RedSport, on a roll an RCF would be faster. Keep in mind Lexus is NA so they don't have low end tq. like the turbos. Lexus will outlive them all and hold the value the best, it's not always about being the fastest. The Q50 VR is probably the cheapest newer car to make fast. The Stinger was engineered by former BMW M devison VP, so it's not "just a KIA". I wanted the G70, but it was too out of my price range. Got '21 Q50 for $15-20k CAD cheaper than all the same year V6 turbo.
@@RevsALot in the previous comment i wasn’t truing to compare Acura/Lexus to Porsche or GTR. What i am saying as TL enthusiasts that has a TL when the platform was good are now moving on and away from the brand. As far as speed goes, i don’t care about being fastest. However if you spend $60k don’t you think it not too much to ask for being relevant in the segment? As for Lexus performance and reliability wise, i am fully aware. As a GSF owner it put a smile on my face when that intake open up at 4k. So right after test drove the TLX-S, i picked up a GSF instead. Despite it being the slowest in the performance sedan segment such as V wing, AMG, RS and M. It stupid reliable. Beside brakes and tires still get 28 mpg on the highway.
Lol SH-Awd no longer top dog? Who the hell you think is top dog then? And how far up north do you even live? Because I plow through snow storms like it's just a rainy day. I dont even have to wait for them trucks to plow the highways because it's 11pm at night and I work 2nd shift, so trucks dont plow until early morning. And half my ride is through country roads where plows don't plow at all until 8-9am when you can't seen nothing, but white. My issue was never "Am I confident enough in my SH-AWD?" No my doubt was just "Am I confident I can visibly see through this road and not drive into the ditch because everything is white and pitch black at night, and I can't see the road properly split between two lanes(incoming and ongoing) due to the snow piling so damn high. However, when I do see them big snow plow trucks, I just drive around them... because they drive at a speed of 25 mph plowing the high ways with hella cars behind them waiting for their exits. Consider the fact that the TLX is a sedan, how in the hell am I beating 90% of what's on the road in the winter time just trying to get to my destination? You're wrong, you have no experience with the TLX as long as I have. You have no say in this topic of which AWD is good or bad. Regarding the speed, yes, it's 2024. I think at this point we all know that Japanese car brands won't offer you the speed European cars offer. But you don't get a Jap car for speed. You get it mostly because you don't want to be in the garage 24/7 or every 3-4 months. My older brother has a 22 Lexus IS350 F Sport. Beautiful car. Fastest out there? No, but reliable hell yeah. My younger brother has a beautiful BMW 550i. Get's lot of car show trophies and people who take pictures of his car while just simply driving pass our home. But that man is usually always in the garage 3-4 months playing with his BMW because something took a shit. Me and my brothers, we ride motorcycles when spring time rolls though. I'd rather be on that for speed. Don't ever bring up them Korean cars.. 😂 Cheap cheap cheap... Are they getting good? Yes, would I ever own one. Hell nah, when you have to offer a 10 year warranty for your power train, that's another way of saying *We not confident* Period. The Stinger is Beautiful looking car? Yes, pretty darn fast too for a family sedan. Good luck finding parts when your car takes a shit in a few years though(Discontinued real early). Funny how you can't find a simple answer when you ask a stinger owner, "Is your car reliable? How many miles you think it will last? 100k?" Never just a straight yes or no answer. Still too new to the market, only time will tell. I don't like the New TLX either. I took my Tlx for service, got a loaner. I just dont like the feel, feels like I'm riding a toyota. Steering wheel is very floaty and light (Which isn't bad if you prefer that). Where as my 18 TLX feels stiff and floaty, just right for me. That loaner solitified for me that I don't want to trade in my NA V6 TLX.
I had a 2017 Acura TLX technology package good car and took it in for the recall. While waiting i was looking around at the dealership and traded for 2021 Aspec low miles how many miles are on your car?
I'd just try to find a good priced one with lower mileage. Make sure all the maintenance was done. 2018+ the best I'd say 2019 or 2020 the best cause it wasn't the first year of the refresh.
I have a black 16 Advanced SH-AWD and want to swap over some of the A spec facelifted body panels (bumpers side skirts etc) to make it look like yours. The A spec cars just look that much better tbh
Glad I came across your video. I was never a car "enthusiast" but as I've been shopping around more this has caught my attention. Do you think I should go for a TLX with SH-AWD or stay safe with a Subaru Legacy (at least an XT trim with the turbo)? Coming from a 2013 Impreza, i've never had a fun car to drive. It's always been a tool to get from A to B. I'm trying to find a good balance of safety, reliability, and enjoyability.
I'd recommend test driving one and seeing how you like it. Personally, I'm not a fan of Subaru, they have too many issues with the turbo models. Just the overall design and interior so world's better on the TLX Aspec, and just basic maintenance they'll last forever. Not sure of your budget, but the IS350 Fsport is the better car imo.
@@RevsALot I appreciate your take on it! I'm trying to stay around $25k. It's been tricky to balance a nice compact/midsize sedan with AWD that has decent backseat space and fun driving. I've looked at a few IS350f and they're definitely nice but i'm striking out on finding one in my budget that isn't a rebuilt/salvage title. My last hesitation with the TLX with SH-AWD (V6 in general) are the button shifters. Should I be worried about those in terms of reliability? Many thanks!
Hi there. Great video!! My ex gf is selling her 2018 with low kms and mint condition. I picked it out for her. lol. I can get it for a great price. What's the issue with the 18 tranny I keep reading about? Thanks and take care.
It depends on the car and maintenance, how it's driven and if it's later model or early model. Our 2018 was registered late 2017 and we've had no issues so far, but the wife doesn't drive too hard either.
Hey man, I’m thinking about getting this 18 A-Spec, or the 20 Tech package. The 20 has only 15k mileage, but only 1k more expensive. The 18 A-spec has 69k mileage. Which one do you think I’d be happier with?

@hulkbig1151 Acura sales are down 13% this year, and the only thing keeping them afloat is the RDX. Lexus sales hit a 35 year record high this year. Lexus makes the better quality, period. Honda is going downhill fast. The Civic Type R is their only good vehicle and the Integra Type S is Acura only good vehicle. I love the MDX and TLX Type S, but they don't even come close in terms of performance/quality compared to its competitors. Unfortunately, Acura/Honda don't make them like they used to while other companies are advancing Acura/Honda falling back with only offering electric and underpowered gas cars. I still love Acura though, don't get me wrong.
Their newer motos are having issues, they can't keep up with the competition for performance to cost. All their sales are down, RDX is the only thing going up in sales. They make their cars heavier with less power then older models. Then made a TLX Type S and it gets destroyed by everything it was made to compete against. They're steering away from ICE and focusing more on full electric, not even offering Hybrids.
Hey, is your wife's TLX been pretty reliable? Thinking about making the switch from my '12 RDX to a '18-21 TLX but not sure about reliability, it seemed mixed online. Hope you're well!
@jackgray3215 reliability has been great. Only issue we have is the Auto window on driver's side doesn't automatically go up, you gotta hold it. I think the track might be dirty. As long as you maintain it well and do trans fluid changes every 60k miles or more if you drive hard you won't have issues. 2015-17 were the worse, 2018 they fixed the trans. Some 18s have had issues, so I'd say anything 19-20 is good. Ours is an 18 with no issues 85k km.

It's pretty easy to disable once you get the hang of it...just start the car and press the disable button.
How is it? I considering getting a 2019 tlx awd v6
I just purchased a fwd a spec 2019. So far I am liking the car.

Acura Integra is suppose to be the least expensive luxury car however the newer mazdas actually look pretty damn luxurious inside! 💯
Yes, newer Mazda definitely look nice inside, but I'm not a huge fan of the base Intergra or Aspec. The Type S is the only Integra worth buying imo.
The Mazdas look incredible but are not cheap.
Mazda has always been pretty high quality for the price in terms of interior.
I absolutely love the double screen in this car👌

Just the video I needed bro
Glad it could help
Same, great review. Been wanting to know what would be the maintenance etc
@notoriousfaith ours has treated us very well so far. Just oil changes and brakes. Only 85k km though.
I have a 2018 TLX V6 with a brand new trans under warranty. I love it!
Damn! Hopefully ours doesn't let go, I heard some ppl having issues in the earlier 2015-17 models, but ours seems to work great so far.
@@RevsALot Yeah it was funny I went in for an oil change mainly and just wanted them to look at fluttering rpms on UPSHIFT. Turned out I needed a new transmission, i didnt complain haha.

Great car i had the blue/red combo. but they recently issued a recall on the V6 for engine failure

Looking at a 2018 a spec awd.3.5 with 40k miles what’s something to look out for i have a 09 tax at the moment

Yes, TLX 3.5 Aspec is definitely a good buy for what you get imo. Great styling, sound and reliability.
Damn, no I haven't had any issues like that. 2020 should still be under warranty though, I'd get that check out asap
Sorry this is a month late, i read another comment on another post saying it was something to do with the crankshaft, ended up needing a whole new motor put in. Hope yours is still driving alright!
@tylersheridan4333 damn! Yah ours still driving good, got to bring it in for the recall to see if it needs it.
Thanks formation the info
I put Michel Pilot Sport 4s on mine handles like a dream. Just looking to upgrade those brakes...
Hows does handling feel in your opinion? For example, does the front end feel sharp when you make a 90 degree right turn?
Handling is awesome, better stock for stock the my 4G SH-AWD I found! To get the best out of the handling, you have to be higher rpms, and harder on the throttle to make the SH-AWD work its magic.
thankss my family always has an mdx or rdx in the fleet but i want a sedan, just wondering if this generation still has that sharp shawd feeling the current gen also has.@@RevsALot
I SAW the TLX SH-AWD race car running. Stock block, heads, crank, and fuel system. Two turbos, around 550 to 600 hp.
They also said if they did sell the TLX like that it would cost over $450k US lol. It's not the same transmission, it's also about 1k lbs. Lighter then the regular TLX SH-AWD. Only thing it shares is the same engine, just like the NSX also has the 3.5.
@@RevsALot the NSX engine was built specifically for the NSX. Pretty much nothing in common with the rest of the J35 family.
@aspecreviews it's still J35 with different internals made to reliably handle 600 hp...that TLX at 600 on stock motor will not reliably handle that power for many years, unlike the NSX
6:56 I don't. For me, Idle Stop is far more annoying when it DOESN'T stop than when it DOES stop.

2020 A-SPEC looks better even than the new ones (and I think there is more room in the back seat).
I agree! I do like the interior, and transmission more on the new ones though.
Agreed
@RevsALot I just got the new one as a loaner getting recall done on my 18. I do like how it accelerates faster at start but at the end the 18 v6 wins. I wouldn't trade I like how it's a bigger body then new one
Was thinking of copper rims as well....have a red one but wanting to change up the color, thoughts on the red? The fog light housing is the same material as the grill housing so yes.
I think bronze and red go together good. I believe the new PMC edition TLX is red with bronze wheels.
Would you recommend any specific brakes and rotors for this car?
I wouldn't know tbh, I just bought cheap Amazon ones.
I kno this is a vid about the tlx but I have a question about the 4th gen tl. I have the fwd model and im currently in the market for a j pipe. Does the shawd j pipe fit the fwd model?
I'm not sure tbh. I had sold my J37 jpipe to my buddy with 3.5 6-6 Accord and he had to custom the exit part..the video is in my stories.
Hell even outdated motor Lexus IS500 can easily dusted "high performance Type S"
Fake engine noise is pretty bad, Auto up shift in Sport+ manual is super lame oh did I mentioned it shifted at 6k despite the redline at 6200?

It's always been a tool to get from A to B. I'm trying to find a good balance of safety, reliability, and enjoyability.
I'd recommend test driving one and seeing how you like it. Personally, I'm not a fan of Subaru, they have too many issues with the turbo models. Im loving my tlx awd A spec after my 2013 3.7 TL. I dont even want to upgrade unless its a tlx type s
@treyvon4444 I love my 6MT SH-AWD more then TLX for fun, but the TLX is good around town and great on gas. I'd love to get a Type S someday.
@@RevsALot My joint have the charger spot but just not the camera on the front.. I wish I still had my TL not gonna lie. I had it just the way I wanted. It was one of the cleanest ones in the city. Not to many people take care of they're Tls here smh. I just got the transmission fluid and oil changed on the tlx at the dealership yesterday so its feeling back new now. U got the best sooped up TL im seeing right no on RUclips bro
@@RevsALot So it must be 4 trims of the Tlx
@treyvon4444 yah there's a lot of different spec models. Also, I think USD and Canada models have different features. I appreciate the support🤝
@@RevsALot Yeah they put the back seat warmers in the Canadian ones. I wish I had that but yeah always love the content
13:28 while on E he says this LOL
Lol I gassed up after the video, at least the gas light wasn't on.
Hard to find the AWD model!...
Audio sounds fine btw
In Canada we don't have FWD, only SH-AWD
Tints?!
We have no tint, but yes it'd look way better with tint.
for the auto upshift issue you were talking about you can put it in sport+ mode and you can get in the 7 rpm's
Sport + still auto upshifts, it ruins the paddle experience.
Well good thing for me I don't go by people's opinions I go by the facts and the results and deathly Honda and Acura Toyota Lexus the wasting their time even trying it's just not going to happen for them it's not like the garbage or anything because they are good they're just not in the league of the other two when it comes to Quality
@@RevsALot in what way has Acura quality gone down?
Their newer motos are having issues, they can't keep up with the competition for performance to cost. All their sales are down, RDX is the only thing going up in sales. They make their cars heavier with less power then older models. Then made a TLX Type S and it gets destroyed by everything it was made to compete against. They're steering away from ICE and focusing more on full electric, not even offering Hybrids.
@RevsALot ok well at least none of that has anything to do with actual quality
@KyChristell yes, motors having issues is definitely a quality thing lol.
Currently looking at a 2020 TLX A spec with the red interior 3.5V6
Anything I should look out at the dealer
I’d be going from a Subaru wrx to this car
@@TheMapleleafs21 I'd just make sure it's been well maintained. Make sure the timing belt is done around 100k km/60k miles. Ask if it's had the recall done yet for the connecting rod bearings.
@@RevsALot I just had my 2020 in for the rod bearing recall they said nothing about a timing belt that is not due until 100k miles
@@tlove14u I'd say 60k miles to be safe. I always do maintenance sooner than recommended though
“TLX mats are nice” continues to rub muddy feet into the carpet
@mattwarren5038 that's called snow, mud is brown not white lol
I would never take a Toyota over a Honda even an Lexus Toyota's fit and finish this isn't there Honda's fit and finishes so much better just better quality
@@hulkbig1151 nah, I find Lexus quality definitely better tbh
As someone who worked at a Honda dealership for over a decade, that just finished last year. You are living 15-20 years in the past. Current Honda ain't what it used to be.
Fastes 4gen TL out there
Luckily I don't have much competition in Canada to claim that 4G title 😂
Your off set on those aftermarket wheels 💩, I prefer the stock wheels.
Everyone has their opinion, I love the offset. I hate the wheel gap though, needs to be lowered.
Tlx* i got you m8
Haha damn, got my TL on the mind. Heartbroken the snow came to early 💔
@@RevsALot hahah hopefully we can get a snow launch of the 6mt ? lol or even the good ol 9at
@7g6_66 I'd love to do one with the TL, I thought of winter driving it this year but trying to keep it away from the salt
Avoid J series engines like a plague.
@@ExecuteBrandon I beat the living hell out of my J37, zero issues. Many J35 350k+ km of abuse, no issues.
