The best way to own a car is to drive it into the ground. Keep that baby around if she's doing her job. We have a 08' Accord and it's been great besides some problems from being in the Florida heat all day and few issues from being a first year. All covered under warranty though. Do you have the 2.4L Inline-4 or the 3.3L V6?
Just bought the SAME EXACT TLX on Saturday from Delray Honda. Same color, same red interior, only 19k miles, 1 owner, no accidents - absolutely MINT except for a little wrinkle where your right elbow sits on the center console. I got a great deal for $32,800 out-the-door (after taxes, fees, registration, etc.). I haven't noticed anything yet, but I'll be on the lookout for the things you mentioned in this video.
Nice brother! Hope you enjoy the ride. I hope you don’t get any of the issues I’ve had because it definitely was a bit of a headache but luckily most of it’s fixed. I actually have two issues at the moment with auto start stop not working and having the Acura voice assistant toggling on and reducing sound of music while blocking the middle UI pretty much every time I drive, all I have to do is press the voice recognition button and press it back to disable but it’s definitely annoying.
Man where are you living? I am looking to buy one and I am looking into some that are offered for sale in local dealers, nothing less than 35k with at least 20k mileage on mid trims. A-Spec goes to 40 grands and these prices are all before tax, reg, etc. I am in north CA. However, I cannot find anything close to what you paid online in the 1000 miles radius😂. I wonder if the prices went up since the time you bought yours or you are a lucky man whose ticket won the lottery already!
I had a 2021 TLX aspec, I also had some issues with the speakers having a crackling sound on the driver side. a creaking sound above the rear seats in the roof. Apple carplay would sometimes freeze and disconnect randomly. The screen would sometimes reboot randomly as well. Had it for a year and 10k miles and traded it in. I think the issues are usually associated with first model year units usually having problems. I will say the ELS sound system was incredible. LOVED it! probably my fav thing about the car.
Yeah for sure the crackling is a known issue that is widespread and can be fixed under warranty for those wondering. It also feels like the screen freezing with car play has gotten better, not sure if they made an update or something. It's still slow but at least seems to boot up everytime
I think there might be a misunderstanding about the warranty: this model has a four-year 48,000 mile factory bumper-to-bumper warranty. Just because it is Acura certified doesn’t mean that warranty goes away and gets replaced with new terms , there may be an additional benefits from the CPO warranty extension, but the original warranty transfers to the new owner. Now, of course we’re coming up to the end of 2024 so you might not have much original warranty left (the date starts on the day the car was originally sold to the first owner which of course could be sometime in 2020 even ) But don’t hesitate to use that warranty… The only thing that doesn’t transfer is the rust warranty . You should be absolutely aggressive about getting that stuff fixed.
can confirm. 2nd owner of a 2021 TLX and took it to the dealership day after I bought it for a blown speaker. covered under warranty no questions asked.
Yeah, so I have had the 2021 tlx aspec awd since its release I've had the fakra adapters replaced three times. Clicking sound when accelerating went away and then would come back after a couple months. The third time, they found multiple loose ground connections when replacing the entire harness. At 7,000 miles, the steering rack needed to be replaced. Then, the rear differential was leaking at axle at 15,000 miles. Brakes, good luck. Tech told me they put to small pads and rotors, so basically, at 7,000 miles, I need new rotors/ pads. I will get pulsing in steering wheel when braking off highway and brakes will start to squeek at low speeds if it is started after sitting for 30 min. Everything has been good besides the acura airbag recall which keeps popping up in acura app. Brought it in and was told the part is currently being produced. Puddle lights though have been good after three replacements. Its been a year and both are working.
Have they done the extended run for the FARKA the last time they replaced them? And damn, it sounds like you got an early production vehicle, glad to hear you finally have everything sorted out.
@Terruu16 After 3 fakra replacements I just kept recording videos of it crackling. They finally agreed to replace harness. While replacing they found the lose grounds. They said they made sure when installing the harness there was enough slack by the fakra. It hasn't crackled since wire harness replacement.
Cool video…I just bought a 2021 TLX haven’t had any of those issues, I’m curious if the dealer can’t fix that brake noise who can & is it something you can learn to live with. Because I don’t know if I can?…lol
I’ve heard some shady things about some dealers refusing to do anything but if it’s really loud it should be an issue they can fix but it will ALWAYS be audible just because of all the electronics they put in these cars
@@TastyRides Okay thanks good to know haven’t heard anything yet. I bought it on Saturday. The brakes going out is crazy hope that definitely doesn’t happen to me. But thanks again & drive safe bro!
I also got a CPO 2021 acura tlx aspec Shawd back in August 2023. I also had the fakra issue, the dealership was able to fix it. It's pretty much good though it does occasionally crack once or twice very rarely and never sticks. The Puddle lights are a known issue, I've already had mine replaced twice. I think it's best to just forget they exist because the dealership takes a couple days to fix it everytime. I had electronic issues with inconsistent startup of Android auto but it seems to have been fixed now through either an Android auto update or a car update, not sure. I haven't had any of your other issues except for low speed braking being loud at times but I'm fine with it as it's not all the time and the brakes aren't new anyway. Since getting the fakra fixed it's been super reliable otherwise! Shawd is a must!
I bought a 21 TLX and had a similar experience with the brakes. Had the car on adaptive cruise and the car in front put on brakes hard. My car braked hard enough to scare me , as there was a car on the side of the road stopped. My lane keep made the steering wheel wobble and the car came to a complete stop. Other than that, the brakes and the car feels amazing. Bought mine with 30k black on black, i call it the batmobile 😮
My brakes recently have been a bit louder again, the electro servo system. I'm not sure why but brake pressure feels fine? The assistance features do scare me from time to time. The LKAS in this and my old 19' Honda CR-V can get finicky and it gets annoying thinking I'm not driving straight because it sees a jagged line or tire marks. Major thing I had for a while is auto start stop stopped working but I think it may have been from jumping a co-workers car. Recently did an oil change at Valvoline and I guess when they tested my battery they charged it and it's back to normal. Only thing not working right now is puddle lights but I haven't bothered. I have a muffler delete, cold air intake, and plan to tune and do a RV6 downpipe and I don't know if they'll void my warranty.
@@TastyRides brakes feel solid on min 2:53 2:56 e😮. Never ever jump start anything .If you do the tune it will void your warranty. But , if you want type R performance with 320 plus HP ..go for it😮😮😅😮
@TastyRides They'll void it for a downpipe for sure. I have the type s and want to get rid of those cats so badly, but I have a friend that removed the secondary cat and it threw a P400 on a highway overtake, at which time it was promptly removed. When the warrantee is expired both cats and a k tuner
If you're changing your puddle lights swap them with the new gen pilot puddle lights they work the same and are far more reliable than the OEM tlx puddle lights
I heard the TLX has two part numbers, one being the o.g. and the new one being an updated part without the reliability issues but I'll keep this in mind
Happy with my 2018 V6 ASpec. I LOVE the look and feel of the new gen but after driving one for a week while mine was in for the crankshaft recall, I was thrilled to get mine back. Biggest issue was that the 4-banger gets abysmal fuel economy compared to my V6.
I need help! My 2021 Tlx randomly started getting EPS issue, AWD problem, lane assist problem, and more. How and why did this happen? And how do I mitigate this?
I would reach out to AcuraHonda or a AcuraHonda Dealership. I don’t know what the hell happened with the early 2021 models but it seems like a lot of early buyers are having lots of different issues. I hope everything gets resolved.
I'm glad they didn't because they might've killed the 2.0T the way they did with the accord. Also get headaches for some reason but it's great for those who don't need all the power and rather take the savings I guess. Would love for a Acura made V8 in a TLX, would be awesome.
Thank you bro for sharing this great video. I am looking to buy one and I was thinking about 2021 but your information here are great! I am going to check issues and will likely look for 2022 version.
Glad I could help! A major issue I’ve been having as of recent so I will be making an updated video, lots of funny downshifting between 3rd and 2nd gears. It feels awful at times and I don’t know if I just didn’t get lucky with my transmission since it is a DCT as far as I’ve been told it shouldn’t feel grindy. Doesn’t feel like I’m grinding gears but it feels like the computer is miscalculating automatic downshifts. And infotainment has been slow as shit at times. The second I turn on the car I immediately press the auto start stop off button and press the Acura individual drive mode that I have with comfort steering wheel, sport engine, and that seems to help a bit to get those animations and loading up out of the way. I know people say waiting for revs to drop is stupid but waiting for it to drop to 800 for me seems to be the best bet for a smooth ride wise and infotainment wise.
I honestly have thought about going back for the last gen V6 type s at times. The second gen is such a nice vehicle but if you just wanna go for the power train and money I think last gen is a good buy unless you find a good price for a late 21 or after model year type s. Don’t get an early model 2021 for any trim. So many issues from other 2021 early run owners
If it is still under warranty, Acura will replace them for free… This is a known issue. They won’t even question you on it. Or you can buy aftermarket ones. It is a very easy swap that you don’t have to be a car person to do. ( and supposedly the Honda part number for the Honda pilot 2024 puddle. Lights also fixes this problem if you don’t want to go aftermarket. The only thing is that you need to replace both of them because the color isn’t going to be the same.
Are those issues fixed for the 2023 tlx Aspec model? Especially the brakes. Also what aftermarket interior LED lighting do you recommend because the stock is not very bright and I would like something that is not a pain in the ass to install and is brighter and looks overall better.
You can control the brightness in the “ vehicle settings” when the car is in park. I mean it’s not going to get crazy bright, but you have to decide what looks good to you. The TLX is going to lean towards subtle and actually useful rather than bold. If you want something that looks like ground effects in the car, get a civic SI and embrace a much much larger aftermarket
I have a GR Corolla CE. I wanted the TLX Type S for a long time. But idk why that car was done soooo poorly. Such an amazing car but ehh. Im in South Florida as well man (Miami)
What about it was done poorly in your opinion? I love the car I just wish I knew about the SH-AWD when I was in the market looking for a new car. Other than that, 0 regrets. Would love to own a Type S though, 2024+ refresh. Also GR Corolla is badass, hope you're loving the ride. Sick engine configuration.
Most def would of bought one for sure. Anyways. Not bashing on the car at all. I still love the Type S TLX. But i guess it just passed through me. One of those you not thinking at the time of purchase 🤣🤣🤣 yes the GR is a fun car. But also has its flaws
i just bought one, i live in ohio where they are assembled but i got one with 15k less miles but a lot more expensive. i wonder if they knew some of the issues with the car when you purchased and thats why it was only $20k
Acura will never figure out how to precision craft a puddle light ………………….. ever. This has been going on since 2015! Don’t bother getting your factory inner door trim torn out and your mirror assembly ripped apart to replace the puddle light “cuz” it WILL FAIL ……….. in a matter of days, weeks if you’re lucky. 😠
See.. Stuff like this is why I keep my 2013 TL SHawd. My LED aftermarket puddle lights are mounted inside the door near the bottom. Easy to change.. Paid $40.00 on eBay years ago and they just work and look great..
There a separate part number of one that works that came out after the release of the 2nd gen 1st year but I don't wanna bother. I do wanna open the mirror cap assembly anyways because I am considering a M style carbon mirror cap, had some friends say its cool, others say its cringe... But yeah, I don't know what that's about
I have the 21 Type S as well, I had a moaning noise while turning right I was told it's the drive by wire braking system, fakra replaced, puddle lights & pretty much that's about it, all those were fixed miles ago I now have a little over 42k
Only issue I've had recently still is puddle lights (haven't been to the dealership since first visit), and auto start stop didn't work for months and when I went for an oil change at Valvoline they told me my battery was bad and I guess they charged it and it got fixed?
@@TastyRides Yup that sounds about right there's a history with Acura batteries failing early it happened as far back with my 12 TL & now with the Type S as well
@@TastyRides you should’ve taken that battery back to Acura… They have a four-year 50,000 mile warranty and if a cell is bad, they’ll replace it and extend the warranty to the new battery 100 months IIRC. Unless the battery was reconditioned by the oil change place (you would know… They would charge you) I would still be suspicious about that battery unless you’ve been running the stereo and lights for a long time without the engine running or something
Be sure and look at the recalls for the 2020… I think there have been a couple. If you have the 4cyl Turbo, be very gentle and give the car at least a 5 min easy driving medium speed warmup up before you do any heavy acceleration. And give it about the same for a cool down. And be aggressive about changing the oil. Replacing the turbo will run you about $3k with labor. ( or worse of it actually shreds and damages the engine ) If you baby your turbo, it may last as long as the car.
@@MurderMostFowl Damn ! Thanks for the heads up. I went for the v6. I made sure I got the 6 and not the turbo. I’m planning on doing the oil change every 4 thousand miles. What your though on that ? And yeah I already have a recall for the air bags on the driver side
By the way, you asked in the video whether or not you had the technology package… If you have the ASPEC, you are a trim level above Technology. I had a lot of more detailed things to share with you, but it looks you tube didn’t like how long it was or whatever and I can’t find the post now. There’s a lot of really great answers to the questions you have in the forums online… Look around for them. I can’t mention the websites by name or this post will probably get deleted. It’s the name of the car. And another one is the brand.
Honda/Acura is reliable, but the first year of any new generation for any automaker is bound to have issues. Would agree that more electronics does not equal more better but this car in 2022-2023 and the new 2024+ mid-cycle refresh have been super reliable from what I've heard from other TLX owners
@@TastyRides Even beyond the first model year, the Civic and Integra have been having numerous issues. From build quality (leaking hatch, valve cover gasket leaks) to a recall and another NHTSA investigation pending on the steering rack alone. A large number of owners being left with rentals for months with no end in sight. With Acura moving away from the touch-pad touchscreen interface in the future, it's unlikely they're interested in fixing anymore issues that might pop up. I wouldn't bother with them
@@chhoyla I've been lucky. My integra doesn't have any of those issues. The only thing that periodically happens is that the wireless carplay music picture gets stuck periodically in the middle of the speedometer.
@@gregbutler4898 Most users are fine. Most Kia's and Hyundai's are also fine, but for prospective buyers, I'm not sure why they'd want to take the risk
@@LDEIB the only crackling sound that I've had issues with are due to the faulty FARKA connectors which recently got a mass recall since a lot of people have had issues with them. I'm not sure about using a portable one, that could depend on the player and cable, especially since the A-SPEC at least is a much stiffer vehicle you might feel a lot more bumps and in turn cause the CD to play incorrectly. Hope this helps!
Why would you buy a used car from a dealer that states they have a 180 point inspection(probably never happened) that stipulates you cant sue for a lemon within the 30 days that they will fix whatever issue presents itself??? If they are scared of that liability, there is a reason for it!
Honda Certified Pre-Owned at all dealerships have a 182-point Inspection "Multi-Point Inspection", it's apart of the program for them to try and sell more used vehicles because of their warranty is extended to vehicles with higher mileage. The 30-day period is for returning the vehicle or dealership having to repair all issues being apart of lemon law protections. They way I said it made it seem more dramatized but that's a standard practice. Now I would've liked it if the brake booster worked perfectly after I took it out on the road the first few weeks but it seems to be something that went bad after words as the brake pressure was fine when I first drove it off the lot, it works fine now.
I mean why wouldn’t you? You take the car to a separate mechanic afterwards and if they find anything wrong it’ll be covered. Also you can beat on the car the first 30 days to see if something is about to go out and get it covered.
I mean I'm really not shocked again to hear that Acura has issues with their brakes that is a known thing i don't know about their SUVs but I know for a fact that the sedans do not provide confidence when breaking
I was in the same boat as you, all the Accord touring I've seen near me were priced very high and tough to find. Found a 22 Tlx A Spec an hour away with only 4700 miles, CPO and only about a 5k difference (all accords I saw had 20k+ miles). Have had the TLX for about 2 weeks now, definitely feel the weight of the car but feels so planted to the ground, I'll accept the mpg hit
It’s a popular Jeremy Clarkson quote “Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.” I’m not encouraging anyone to go speed if you do not know how to handle your car or know the exact conditions of the road you’re on. That’s what tracks are for. And my accident was from a medical emergency and I don’t have a ticket from it or anything on my driving record
@@TastyRides You are so off on this. Speed kills. That is why it is against the law. My buddy killed his mom in an accident. He didn’t get a ticket either.
He's correct. Speed has never killed anyone. It's how fast you come to a stop. Think of how fast we are all going on this planet hurling through space at speeds no car can go.. nobody dies from that. If earth were to crash into another planet going in our direction it would be the end of everything you know. Just physics.

I live in Miami and thinking and a tlx. But not sure if I should get the 2019 type s with a v6. Or 21 4 cylinder a spec. Going to follow you
I honestly have thought about going back for the last gen V6 type s at times. The second gen is such a nice vehicle but if you just wanna go for the power train and money I think last gen is a good buy unless you find a good price for a late 21 or after model year type s. Don’t get an early model 2021 for any trim. So many issues from other 2021 early run owners
My puddle lights went out. And the gear shifter lights. Very annoying
I have yet to replace my puddle lights
If you want something that looks like ground effects in the car, get a civic SI and embrace a much much larger aftermarket
how is the drive with this car under weather conditions such as heavy rain ? snow ?
TLX Type s is the zlowest car in its class and is also the HEAVIEST. It's just a porker idk why honda screwed the weight so much
i just bought one, i live in ohio where they are assembled but i got one with 15k less miles but a lot more expensive. i wonder if they knew some of the issues with the car when you purchased and thats why it was only $20k
No he paid 34$K not 20k!!!
Around $34K with all taxes and fees but $20K with my downpayment from a previous car that was totaled
@@TastyRides Ahh gotcha, nevermind then, that's the same pace as mine.
I just got a 2020 aspec with no warnty
So I trying to pay it before something happens to it
Buy a code reader so you can delete minor codes when they pop up thank me later it can be a code reader less than $100 too
Be sure and look at the recalls for the 2020… I think there have been a couple.
People say Honda/Acura is reliable, their electronics definitely aren't
Does the crackling sound in the speakers happen with cd's?
This car doesn’t have a CD player or tape deck unfortunately
@@TastyRides Yes, but if you have a portable one, would it cause those issues? Or is that a sign of the cd skipping?
Lol, what? My brakes stop 60-0 in 100 feet. It's like hitting a brick wall, and controlled.
you just have a beautiful face. I have a 2007 Accord, but I just dream of such a car! you are good!
You got a nice deal on this
I’m in process of buying a car rn looking between the tlx and accord 2.0 touring great video thanks
I want this car but i have 2007 is350 that’s still going strong 💪🏾
Dude gets in accidents but still states speed doesn't kill. Watch out everyone this dude is gonna come sliding past you from behind.
Thanks
Welcome!
Problem #1 - you got an aspec and not type s
