- The past 6 months has been something else. We've moved out of San Francisco up to the Sierra Nevada! It's been a welcome change so far and we couldn't be happier. The place we bought has two homes, one we stay in and one we want to offer to you, as subscribers and viewers first.
The "Lookout Tower" featured in this video isn't quite ready. We're still working on a few things before we can make it available, but we have another cabin that can sleep 7-8 adults plus some children too. That one is available and it has 8 acres attached that you can explore and hang out on! We're going to be renting it for about $250 a night, but as subcribers to this channel I want to offer it to you for $150 a night to come up and enjoy the mountains! For some reason, every Fishing channel I've subbed to for the past 5 years have all been buying some sort of land or farm, and it's really inspiring. I'd like to make my own lake / pond in a little humble farm land.

Well ppl are getting fed up with big cities BS, like traffic, violence, stupid laws, protests, etc. It's even more pronounced in progressive countries/states. At least in a ranch you can invest in being a little bit more self sustainable, you occupy your mind and body with handwork that will make you feel better at the end of the day. For youtubers its also a way of generating even more nice content.
The reason: ad revenue/merch sales.
People want to self sustain. Cheaper, cleaner, safer living.
As a land owner I completely get your excitement. The magic of exploring your property, catching fish in your own pond and watching the sun set and rise with only your thoughts and nature to keep you company just cannot be described. I am so happy for you. Congrats. It looks beautiful.

Back then I was just a kid in school watching some cool fishing videos to pass the time. Now here I am today engaged to the love of my life with my first kid on the way. To see your journey as a man and a video creator/entrepreneur has been awesome. I’m on vacation and today I watched this video in the car with my fiancé telling her how long I’ve watched your videos and how much I’ve always loved your content. I can’t even remember how many subscribers you had when I first subscribed I want to say it was something like 30k. Your videos were clunky, but they were so pure and I knew that you were going to go far. Hey man, I found your videos years ago and I'm so happy to see this. You deserve it.
Matts, I moved up here in the hills back in 85 full time. We only bought 5 acres but it was in the middle of nothing so I have done more than my share of bird hunting. There were a lot of neighbors with different size ponds too, I trained my Lab in a couple of them. Bass like a lot of cover so that pond could use some! We are supposed to have another wet winter like last year so it will be full again soon. The mines, the biggest snakes I have found are in the mines so keep an eye out! There are a lot of tools needed to maintain a place like that. I have a big riding mower for cutting most of my fire break and keep two brush cutters on hand. Chain saws are a must! I keep a 30 and a 16 on hand. Those take care of most of what I do. I gave one of the new 16 inch electrics a try. You need a couple batteries on hand but they work ok if you don't have a lot of cutting to do. A nice log splitter comes in handy too. I have one but went to a pellet stove in my new house. I have neighbors now, can't see them but they are there. I was 38 when I moved up here full time, 35 when I bought the place. I'm going to be 76 very soon but all I will tell you is, it's an adventure!!!
I am very happy for you! Having your own pond, acreage, and a huge place to explore, is amazing. You gotta get some more water into that pond and put some work into maintenance; the fish will love you for it. I am working towards something similar and have an eye in NorCal, Oregon and Washington, probably will do 80-100 acres, probably in 10-ish years. Getting away from it all, no worries except some snakes, bobs, and yotes.

I have been watching your videos since I found your channel is 2014 and have been watching the development and growth from then to now. Owning your own ranch is something of dreams for some people and I am glad to see you invested into something that’s worthwhile. Wish I could come out to explore the mines since I have been doing that kind of stuff for the last few years in my free time going into old copper mines and also coal mines. There might still be some original gear inside them mines hopefully we get to see the documentation on that soon.

I would enjoy hearing more about your thought process about moving up the the mountains (as opposed to up or down the coast), the amount of land, which nearby conveniences you find useful, maintenance obligations living out there, etc. Looking forward to seeing your new adventures!
We bought the original cabin about three years ago and have been renovating it as finances allow. Some family circumstances arose last year and we were at a clear cross roads to stay in San Francisco or take a leap and change our lives completely. It's nice that there are two failr large towns 10 minutes each direction which has all our shopping needs. Even Lowe's and Walmart 25 minutes away. Seeing this 55 acre property though was just the perfect place for us in our current life position. Had everything we could ever ask for and some, so it was a no brainer to get everything we had together and try to make it work! So far it's been the best decision I think we've made as a family by far...great place for the kids and really so much freedom aside from the guns. Couldn't be happier having made the move!

I live outside the city limit on a 10-acre plus property. I’m glad you all got those cats because it’ll help tremendously with snakes out in the country. My grandson got bit by a baby rattler last year and thank God he recovered completely. Someone told me to get barn cats so I went and adopted 4 at the shelter. This year I have not seen any snakes at all! BTW, nice ranch!
