On tonight's livestream Max said that he talked to Reuben Langdon (Dante's actor), who said he showed this video to the game's executive producer Itsuno. He reportedly cried tears of joy upon seeing how excited people were getting about this game. Just thought I'd share that story with y'all.
I just beat the game in Hell and Hell and about to replay every level I didnt get S in to get the platinum trophy. Its nice to remember when the hype started

SpardaTheDevil I can imagine that most people didn't know what to think when they saw this because of how excited they were ( I thought Nico was Kyrie for a hot second lol) but people who were saying that Nero was Dante/Vergil after they clearly saw him rev the sword, shoot with Blue Rose, AND speak, there's no excuse.
people have no idea why these guys, and others like them, reacted the way they did and then comment "they r not fans cause they didn't recognize red queen". Most of us were afraid that it was just DmC 2 with a rebooted Donte using red queen weapon, and I even thought this was a rebooted Nero for DmC 2 after I recognized the red queen. The art style changed, Nero's arm changed, some new girl, etc all these stuff are enough for people to get confused with this trailer. That short clip of Nero losing his arm, followed by the devil May Cry 5 title reveal, and Dante on bike was the moment many of us could breath a sigh of relief and accept that it wasn't DmC 2.

Hunter Thomas Sounds good just keep in mind that while DMC5 may take elements from DmC, that DmC is non-canonical to the main 5, but it does have good gameplay for itself so I recommend its own definitive edition for its full experience.

Creative directors wanted the animation to be more close to the dmc remake and didnt wanted to have a much more anime feel to it. Idk if they collaborated with the creative directors of the dmc remake to do this
What are you talking about the music in dmc was more like wub electric and slipknot(cumbercrist sounds like a generic punk screamo) the original devil may cry had more of a Metallica megadeath and Iron Maiden which from the trailer it seems like Dante’s music is going to be that while Nero’s music will be more like my chemical romance and sleeping with sirens so Nero is going through his emo faze When it comes to the designs I think it’s fine it’s definitely not dmc not enough orange and the feeling my eyes were going to melt so ya not dmc but it seems like a high res devil may cry 2 with elements of 3s city sections( what little there was) overall solid to me
After a few watches I realized Nero's facial structure didn't change *that* much, art style aside, and it's growing on me. Notably his jaw/chin is a bit more square and manly, and his chin is clefted. I'm just not sure if the hairstyle fits. That's the harder sell for me. That aside, the game itself looks fantastic, though of course want to see some raw gameplay.
Well it's not surprising they changed his face a bit. Look at Chris Redfield, Kratos (ok beard, but still) Prince of Persia throughout the trilogy. It happens when they make the jump in technology. And judging by Dante, quite some time has passed. Man he looked like he was ready to seriously fuck someone up :D

SpardaTheDevil I can imagine that most people didn't know what to think when they saw this because of how excited they were ( I thought Nico was Kyrie for a hot second lol) but people who were saying that Nero was Dante/Vergil after they clearly saw him rev the sword, shoot with Blue Rose, AND speak, there's no excuse.

people have no idea why these guys, and others like them, reacted the way they did and then comment "they r not fans cause they didn't recognize red queen".
Most of us were afraid that it was just DmC 2 with a rebooted Donte using red queen weapon, and I even thought this was a rebooted Nero for DmC 2 after I recognized the red queen.
The art style changed, Nero's arm changed, some new girl, etc all these stuff are enough for people to get confused with this trailer.
That short clip of Nero losing his arm, followed by the devil May Cry 5 title reveal, and Dante on bike was the moment many of us could breath a sigh of relief and accept that it wasn't DmC 2.

My WHOLE childhood has been around the devil may cry series, I really teared up before my university exam watching this and I just found this channel, no one was as hyped as I was except you guys. I’m so glad I found you my man, I’m definitely a fan now and I can’t wait to continue being a fan!
I just ordered the Devil May Cry HD Collection so I could get invested in these games. Everything I know about the series comes from Marvel VS Capcom, so now I can finally learn a bit about it.

Hunter Thomas Sounds good just keep in mind that while DMC5 may take elements from DmC, that DmC is non-canonical to the main 5, but it does have good gameplay for itself so I recommend its own definitive edition for its full experience.

Play Asia is selling the Asia version of the physical disc which is the Japanese version, but starts the game out in English.

Dante on the bike laugh made the hype so real! I was sceptical with how Nero looks and feels like DmC Donte, though better, and how the music and graphic is also quite close to DmC and that there is no Dante to be seen but the last second laugh is just very much Dante that I know and love, now I'm super hype about DMC5
Nero is almost the same like DmC dante on the "rebellious teenager" part. its just that it wasnt shown that much on dmc 4 due to him being too busy to save his GF
Creative directors wanted the animation to be more close to the dmc remake and didnt wanted to have a much more anime feel to it. Idk if they collaborated with the creative directors of the dmc remake to do this
What are you talking about the music in dmc was more like wub electric and slipknot(cumbercrist sounds like a generic punk screamo) the original devil may cry had more of a Metallica megadeath and Iron Maiden which from the trailer it seems like Dante’s music is going to be that while Nero’s music will be more like my chemical romance and sleeping with sirens so Nero is going through his emo faze
When it comes to the designs I think it’s fine it’s definitely not dmc not enough orange and the feeling my eyes were going to melt so ya not dmc but it seems like a high res devil may cry 2 with elements of 3s city sections( what little there was) overall solid to me

After a few watches I realized Nero's facial structure didn't change *that* much, art style aside, and it's growing on me. Notably his jaw/chin is a bit more square and manly, and his chin is clefted. I'm just not sure if the hairstyle fits. That's the harder sell for me.
That aside, the game itself looks fantastic, though of course want to see some raw gameplay.

Well it's not surprising they changed his face a bit. Look at Chris Redfield, Kratos (ok beard, but still) Prince of Persia throughout the trilogy. It happens when they make the jump in technology. And judging by Dante, quite some time has passed. Man he looked like he was ready to seriously fuck someone up :D

I'm so mad I never saw this when I was younger, I know for a fact younger me would've lost his mind even with no knowledge of the series. But, I guess I can't be too mad because I did play it in 2023 and enjoyed every single second of it.

SW223000 the gaming press pretty much said that old series was old hat and anyone who disagreed was a hater, mad about the hair, regardless of what gameplay concerns they might have had, like it dropping from 60fps to 30fps, no lock-on and colour coded enemies it was always "nah you're just mad about the hair, this is the future". Now despite bad mouthing the old series they'll soon be singing it's praises once again and it'll be DmC that will be thrown to one side regardless every good thing they said before

Looks like they incorporated parts of DmC Dante’s design into Nero’s new appearance, a fair compromise- I actually liked him.

It's Nero, no mistake. If you look closely you can see the antagonist holding his original arm. One of the sub plots will apparently be to get his arm back.
