The Smash music producers are gods, the arrangement for the Castlevania and King K. Rool fight soundtrack shows how much passion and effort they put into it. This game is gonna be a masterpiece and Sakurai really stood to his words of "Everyone is here!" I can assume Smash has hit a point where Nintendo just let Sakurai use infinite budget like Miyamoto, and boy Infinity War now looks weak.

Crazy would be quite the understatement. You may find this statement as unapologetic Nintendo dick-riding, but I must say this. While we gamers may not know what really goes on in Masahiro Sakurai's mind, but he and his team is, in my humble opinion, are mad (the good kind of mad). Judging from what we saw from Nintendo so far is their attempt to make a Smash Bros. game to end all Smash Bros. games. Look at Super Smash Bros. Melee: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Edition... if you can picture that.

Joel Garcia God of war 1 was great, 2 and 3 just has the sequel problem where they extended the plot because the game was popular and nothing more, so when I saw the new GoW I tought it was only an attempt to prey on TloU popularity, it doesnt really do anything ground breaking and just uses Kratos because is an established character but I do admire the effort put in the game, meanwhile Fighterz didnt really polish the cutscenes or mouth movement for english dialogue but I do think is a great game even if kinda simplifiednfor casuals with the auto combos
There's something magical about watching Max bouncing in his seat like a child on his birthday about to get his presents. This Direct was so hype to watch, and watching Max's reaction made it even better.
it just means that we can use final smashes like the way we use supers in fighting games. also it would make a big table turner in 1v1 for glory matches (or whatever they'll be called in ultimate)
Seriously, I was just as shocked as Max cause I didn't think they were actually going to do it. It was always my most requested mechanic change (I love Final Smashes but hate the Smash Ball) but the demand for it was so low that I thought they would ignore it. Coupled with the fact that the few forum posts that suggested a Final Smash Meter was met with heavy opposition from alot of people cause "the Smash Ball was moar unique" and "we don't want Smash to be moar liek traditional fighters" or whatever. I'm just happy that Nintendo made it an option. My friends and I love Final Smashes, but we never use them because we don't like using the Smash Ball. We were all unanimously happy with the announcement of a Final Smash Meter, and it even appears that they are trying to streamline and balance the Final Smashes to make them more competitive.

I actually really like Shovel Knight as an assist. I mean sure, its not a character but this is really good as far as indies are concerned. Shantae, Sans, Literally any indie can be in now as an assist.

Every fighting game needs that Smashdown mode. Just imagine no one being able to pick the same people over an over. Now u and your opponent are forced to use fighters your not use to until everyone has been played. Tekken, Street Fighter, KOF, Mortal Kombat and more all NEED a mode like this.

If he is, he should either be the first boss you encounter, a-la King Dedede in "Kirby: Squeak Squad", or even a playable character, likely because whatever sort of effect the plot has on the Kongs would also go towards his tribe.
It's probably because this is the first smash game to have a lot of mature rated game characters, like Simon, Snake, Bayo, Ridley. The only other smash games with M rated characters were Brawl and 4, and they both had like 2 each.(Also, can we consider Ness and Lucas M-rated?)
Still awesome to this day. I like how companies are collaborating more nowadays, but I feel we may never get anything as star-studded as Smash Ultimate again; they just keep going and it’s fantastic.
One of the things that is subtle in the reveal is an idea of how far we've come in the last two generations, in terms of system memory to run a game. When they showed off stage morph, a lot of people didn't realize what they boasted when they did the transition to Skyloft and how an entire High def version of every nook and cranny of the entire island and surrounding entities was there just as an entertaining background even though the Metroid stage was also loaded. It didn't seem that long ago, two gens ago, when various tricks were needed and memory spooling in order to traverse that place. And they wouldn't even dare show a full blown flyover of the place with every detail, building, etc at once. And that was at standard definition. If it were high def, even last gen would require tricks, and memory spooling to pull off. Given how much this gen could eat Skyward Sword for breakfast; now I'm thinking, if they did a remake of Skyward Sword, they should probably rebuild the engine since they could load so much and run it with high frame-rates now. Really open things up and connect the locales that used to be behind load zones. Make the Skyward Sword they really wanted to make. And for us, the first 60fps+ 3d immersive Zelda game.
I'm kind of amazed how much of this comment aged well. They didn't fully connect the Skyward Sword zones, but they certainly gave us everything else about it.
I hope there is going to be an adventure mode. It doesn't even need cut scenes. If you could hop game worlds, fight the enemies/midbosses from each game, and then beat a boss and the end of them, that would be awesome!
Thatguy Line Everyone keeps mentioning Rathalos but seems the same goes for Dracula. One player was seen fighting him in the direct and they kept the requirements for his arrival in the Castlevania stage a secret. Some version of Subspace or a boss battle extravaganza is definitely coming.
That's the only thing keeping me from dying happy right now. I've wanted Adventure mode to come back for a damn decade. And since there's all these characters, the worlds are endless compared to melee. So much replay value. I must have played that mode like 100 times just to get all the trophies and stuff.
Thatguy Line AND it was the monster hunter world, not just a generic mountain-desert region, like in Subspace. Which gives me hope that it's like Melee Adventure mode where you're world hopping.
It just occurred to me that they probably used Dedede for the joke in the K Rool trailer because Sakurai voices him, so it’s actually him trolling his fans through the character... God that man is an evil genius...

Joel Garcia God of war 1 was great, 2 and 3 just has the sequel problem where they extended the plot because the game was popular and nothing more, so when I saw the new GoW I tought it was only an attempt to prey on TloU popularity, it doesnt really do anything ground breaking and just uses Kratos because is an established character but I do admire the effort put in the game, meanwhile Fighterz didnt really polish the cutscenes or mouth movement for english dialogue but I do think is a great game even if kinda simplifiednfor casuals with the auto combos

Seriously, I was just as shocked as Max cause I didn't think they were actually going to do it. It was always my most requested mechanic change (I love Final Smashes but hate the Smash Ball) but the demand for it was so low that I thought they would ignore it.
Coupled with the fact that the few forum posts that suggested a Final Smash Meter was met with heavy opposition from alot of people cause "the Smash Ball was moar unique" and "we don't want Smash to be moar liek traditional fighters" or whatever.
I'm just happy that Nintendo made it an option. My friends and I love Final Smashes, but we never use them because we don't like using the Smash Ball. We were all unanimously happy with the announcement of a Final Smash Meter, and it even appears that they are trying to streamline and balance the Final Smashes to make them more competitive.

Sakurai is rather smart for making Final Smashes an super meter even if there weaker Versions of the character’s final smash from a smash ball.
Every fighting game needs that Smashdown mode. Just imagine no one being able to pick the same people over an over. Now u and your opponent are forced to use fighters your not use to until everyone has been played. Tekken, Street Fighter, KOF, Mortal Kombat and more all NEED a mode like this.

It's probably because this is the first smash game to have a lot of mature rated game characters, like Simon, Snake, Bayo, Ridley. The only other smash games with M rated characters were Brawl and 4, and they both had like 2 each.(Also, can we consider Ness and Lucas M-rated?)

One of the things that is subtle in the reveal is an idea of how far we've come in the last two generations, in terms of system memory to run a game. When they showed off stage morph, a lot of people didn't realize what they boasted when they did the transition to Skyloft and how an entire High def version of every nook and cranny of the entire island and surrounding entities was there just as an entertaining background even though the Metroid stage was also loaded.
It didn't seem that long ago, two gens ago, when various tricks were needed and memory spooling in order to traverse that place. And they wouldn't even dare show a full blown flyover of the place with every detail, building, etc at once. And that was at standard definition. If it were high def, even last gen would require tricks, and memory spooling to pull off.
Given how much this gen could eat Skyward Sword for breakfast; now I'm thinking, if they did a remake of Skyward Sword, they should probably rebuild the engine since they could load so much and run it with high frame-rates now. Really open things up and connect the locales that used to be behind load zones. Make the Skyward Sword they really wanted to make. And for us, the first 60fps+ 3d immersive Zelda game.
I'm kind of amazed how much of this comment aged well. They didn't fully connect the Skyward Sword zones, but they certainly gave us everything else about it.

I do like how they used Lord of Shadow's combat cross design for simon's vampire killer. Really neat touch.
I want to buy a replica of that Vampire Killer, it just looks way too sexy.

I hope there is going to be an adventure mode. It doesn't even need cut scenes. If you could hop game worlds, fight the enemies/midbosses from each game, and then beat a boss and the end of them, that would be awesome!
Also, every time they showed the Rathalos stage there was only one player in it. This is gonna be good
Thatguy Line Everyone keeps mentioning Rathalos but seems the same goes for Dracula. One player was seen fighting him in the direct and they kept the requirements for his arrival in the Castlevania stage a secret. Some version of Subspace or a boss battle extravaganza is definitely coming.
That's the only thing keeping me from dying happy right now. I've wanted Adventure mode to come back for a damn decade. And since there's all these characters, the worlds are endless compared to melee.
So much replay value. I must have played that mode like 100 times just to get all the trophies and stuff.
Thatguy Line AND it was the monster hunter world, not just a generic mountain-desert region, like in Subspace. Which gives me hope that it's like Melee Adventure mode where you're world hopping.
