My mariae only blooms once a year also, usually in May. I’ve read there are slightly different colors, perhaps they bloom more often. I’ve read in several places mariae should bloom freely.

So far mine blooms also around April-May once a year. The flowers last approx. 45 days. It is supposed to be free flowering but I assume it comes with age :)?
I am not aware of strong variation in color for mariae though?
