You asked, I delivered. I have included 3 entirely different faces and also dark skin tone, since you guys wanted that as well. Let me know what you think about this format!
@@casperjanowski8187 sure, why not, but I personally find it more stressful the way you describe it 😬 though some people definitely do it the way you suggest
The dark skin tone highlighting tutorial ia great! Not many videos in general on how to paint dark skin tones, thanks a lot. I started following your videos about two weeks ago and you really renewed my interest in miniature painting. Keep up the great work!
I remember when this sister model was shown and people where saying "the head is ugly" "the face suclpt is bad". This video just goes to show its about how you paint somthing not inherently the sculpt
I am glad to hear that! When I put my script together, I am always thinking: "Is this line necessary?" If not, I delete it - well except for the jokes in other videos
Your methods are well explained and easy to understand. Now if I could just learn the patience to gradually build up the layers of glaze while ever decreasing the area to be painted. Heaven give me the patience, right now! ;)
S'good that. Thanks. Thought Storm was great but the sister was a close second. I find my faces get desaturated so glazes of magenta or red or reikland help alot
I absolutely love how you specifically pointed out in all of your face tutorials exactly where your brightest highlights should go. I always struggle with highlight placement as the volumes get brighter, and this really clarified a lot of stuff for me. I also really appreciate the tip for stubble and beards; I've been using blue up until this point, but I actually think your grey tone looks a lot more subtle and natural!
I was looking for a guide on how to paint Sons of the Phoenix to add to my Last Wall Protocol army and found this channel. This is honestly the best painting guide RUclips channel I have seen as you don't overwhelm new painters but you give a lot of refreshing views on different painting techniques that I am reviewing how I want to paint my Black Templars! I really appreciate all of the advice and you earned my subscription! Keep up the amazing work my wonderful bearded friend!
Unfortunately, I did not record the whole process, that would be way too time consuming with that miniature! However, if you would like to know how I painted certain parts, feel free to ask here or via Instagram
To start I'm not one of those guys, I am a subscriber. I have to say I enjoy your 5 minutes videos, but they are sometimes to fast for me (a beginner), this one was on the mark! I really enjoyed it and learned from it. Thanks and great job!
Marvelous Video friend! I wonder maybe in a future explore about the "color" zones of the face (For temperatures and other types of effects: beard, wounds, and more). :D Thank you so much!
I plan to make longer format vids as well, but since it can take up to 60 hours to get 5 minute video done, you can take a guess how long will take longer video! haha - Is there anything that I have missed here? Because I don't think that I can go THAT MUCH deeper than this
Your videos have been a HUGE power up in my painting game. The way you describe and show something is so sweet and simple yet masterful in execution. Many thanks and much love from one mini painter to another, you're awesome!~
The real key to painting faces is... only buy models with full face helmets on! That said, the WH40K Orks I've just started have craggy faces that respond brilliantly to the old wash and drybrush. Lucky for me. 😀
Thanks for sharing your process. I'd love to know more about your camera set up if you are able to post additional affiliate links. What type of lens like what type of lens you are you using, what type of camera rig, what type of lighting to be able to shoot that close to the miniature and have such an amazing quality. I'm looking to buy a ton of equipment, and would rather a portion of those amazon purchases support your channel since I pay the same regardless. I want to be able to document my own progress from a noob painter to highly skilled. Thanks in advance for any additional links you can provide.
I am missing the part about the youtube gods. How do we know that we should like this video so the RUclips Gods will take it and recommend it to them? John Gerath definitely! Awesome volume there!
For the Sister of Battle, did you apply any special tones to her scarring, or did you just leave them at the basecoat color and let the contrast handle everything?
Thank you very much for including dark/African skin. There are too many tutorials that don't consider Black skin, unless it's the coal black of Salamanders.
@@Zumikito Aha, gotcha. Sounds like I just need a load more practice xD I use size 1 Rafael 8404 usually, but even with their thick bellies, the paint dries so very quickly. Also, I live in the UK, so I don't think it's the "heat" causing a problem haha

Good stuff. I like your focused discussions on selected topics. Other RUclipsrs tend to ramble.

Your "explained in five minutes" videos are very well done, keep it up!
Will do :)
have watched this, looked at my chaos cultist's face and decided that i need magnifying glasses to do good work
Head mounted ones work really well. I’ve been very happy with the 2.5x Optivisor DA-5.
Really enjoyed this, nice to combine a few different hues together - that dark skintone is one of the best I've seen done.
What I like the most about it, is the fact, that it takes just 2 paints 😂 I love it
@@Zumikito I know right! Increasingly realising I might as well throw half my paints away the more I get into this hobby...
@@Gunnlaugr11 wait till you find out, that you could theoretically use just Kimera Kolors paint set of 13 paints!

It looks easy in your video. I'll try to apply some of the concepts explained here.
As with many things in this hobby, it is easy, but takes time, all there is to it
Great tips. I have shared this video with my son in law as he is painting a sister of battle. He is new to the painting hobby. Thank you.
I hope it helps him as well!

Love all three but that's some great work on the darker skin tones - I always struggle with those so thanks

Amazing work. I really loved them all. You have helped me a lot in my journey as a painter. Thanks for all the pro tips!

Thank you for this video, with clear explanations. Quick question: how long did you spent on each faces to reach the expected result?
My pleasure! The sister and Storm took between 1 to 2 hours each (also recording is a factor) and John Gerath about 3 to 4 hrs
His accent makes these videos even better.
Would love to know what colors you used for Storms fabric.
Just 3 Kimero Kolors paints : mixed black with the green tone blue and added white to build the entire volume
How do you take the picture? Straight on? From above? From the side? Do you use a flash? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
Storm’s my favorite
Nice! What do you like about that one particularly?
Just the way you make her skin look smooth and bright

How do you get the brush tip so pointy with paint on it......
Quality brushes and I also occasionally lick the tip so it stays sharp (only with acrylics tho, as those are non toxic)
Thanks for including a darker skin tone. Helped a bunch!

What brush do you use for faces? Could not tell which brand or size it is.
The same as always, Da Vinci maestro series 35 - link in the description
