you guys have the best follow up questions. "when people change technique they usually lighten weights, did you have to do that?" and then just let the guy talk and keep prying. perfect interview techniques
When I started powerlifting back in the 80s, knee wraps was all there was. You squatted in what was called a Supersuit. To my knowledge there was no multiply. So wraps is all I know when it comes to going heavy. I didn't start wearing sleeves until a few years ago. Quite a different feeling. Wraps will numb the legs but I've never felt they hurt. But then I probably don't wrap nearly as tight because no one does it for me.
1005 fking pounds....JESUS CHRIST. God bless u man and keep going.I dont fking care if he's on gear or not i just dont care. The weight it's just....mind blowing.
He is definitely on gear, but so are the rest of them in that weight class so that's not why he is better than them....he is a monster, I think he is better than Malanichev who is on more gear than Ray imo.
Memphis rappers got the coolest names. You got kingpin skinny pimp, crunchy black, grandaddy souf, juicy j, project pat, gangsta pat, and now you got moneybag yo.
What about having specially developed plates that are much bigger, for squat? So that there's less travel to the floor and less chance of the lifter getting 'stuck' under the bar? Like big wagon wheel type things or half way between that size?
I'm paying for that pizza again right now. Will I ever get off the toilet??? Will Vegeta ever surpass Goku??? Find out next time, on Dragon Ball Z!!!!!
Bo Jackson is somewhere down in the south. this could have been the guy to get ahold of Bo for you and you didn't even ask him if he knows Bo. I am disappoint.
1 imperial ton =1 016.04691 kilograms You'll note that 1016 is more than 1000, so half of 1016 would be more than 500 (508 to be exact). 508kg x 2.2 is 1117,6. So half an imperial ton is 1117,6lbs. What this means is that you're wrong and should probably have used google before trying to correct someone.
I was already a fan of Ray the powerlifter, I'm now a big fan of Ray the human being. Such a humble and funny guy.
such a cool humble dude.
Amen
I feel like beeing able to squat 1000lbs allows you to shout "bitch I squat 1k" to random people
good to hear an interview with Ray by people that actually have some pride in production quality.
This dude is my hero. Great interview!
you guys have the best follow up questions. "when people change technique they usually lighten weights, did you have to do that?" and then just let the guy talk and keep prying. perfect interview techniques

Once Ray gets his Ph.D. I have no doubt that Dr. Squat would readily lend his moniker to this guy if he was still alive.
Wonder how he feels about Jezza's 440(970) for a double... can't wait for worlds now! these guys are killing it!
Scott Carson did I hear him say money lift not mono lift. because that's a thing now
Scott Carson Fuck man, if Jezza didn't fuck up with his opener he would have gone for 480 on his third, maybe beating ray, but rays 470 was scary
Scott Carson
Ray Williams thinks 970 squat for a double is cute.
awesome podcast you guys! ray seems like a super humble and nice guy!
One of the best powercasts. Ray is the man!
Just subbed to you after seeing you on Meg's channel! Love the way you explained everything in her video!
1005 fking pounds....JESUS CHRIST. God bless u man and keep going.I dont fking care if he's on gear or not i just dont care. The weight it's just....mind blowing.

pdbre How do you know whos on more gear?
Jake H. What that thing at end of my comment?
pdbre Why is that your opinion? Or are you just talking nonsense for fun
Jake H. Malanichev does not compete in the IPF...that's why...
What mark said about not updating phones I believe it 100% as soon as I don't update things starting acting weirder
Nice Humble guy can't believe he said The Last Dragon love that movie
Memphis rappers got the coolest names. You got kingpin skinny pimp, crunchy black, grandaddy souf, juicy j, project pat, gangsta pat, and now you got moneybag yo.

been waiting for this like Forever:D_)thanks Mark:)
Awesome guy. Strong as hell. A lot of great info. Hey guys get Brandon Allen on there sometime
The Water Boy accent is a Cajun accent. It's particular to a part of Louisiana; it's not the classic Southern accent.
as soon as Ray mentioned Paul Wall I knew I would enjoy this episode.
Thank you so much for this interview. Beautiful guy, Big Ray. Dad extraordinaire.
i love this guy
Yes! Ask and you shall receive!
Solid guest!
What's the backstory on that shade with Brandon Lilly?
I agree 100% with Mark's suggestion that they make the older iPhones suck when they release a new version.
As someone whose only listened to/watched the podcast since November 2020, thicccccc Mark Bell is strange too look at again
Been waiting for this episode!
yo, I fucking loved WWF when I was a kid, but dad was still superman...........Trust me Ray, you're still superman.
2017 Ray Williams to hit over 1069 without wraps!!!!
Kevin Khem over 1100.. current single ply record
Kevin Khem
It was 1,052.
Spartacus 92
2018.
Ogun Balogun
He squatted over 1,052 raw already.
1,052.7 lbs or pounds exactly.
Another good episode. Ray sounds so much like Mark Henry!
Usually the POWERCAST is over before you know it...... but ya know.
great interview, thanks
Hala from South Africa!
the last dragon has been my favorite movie for for like 20 years ...I was a black belt when I was 15 and this movie is why
Curtis Henry good for you. I see fat little kids that can't even walk properly with black belts. If it's not a black belt in bjj it's meaningless
Really loving that burgundy ST shirt. Need to cop me one.
Yo that one guy's from the documentary "Bigger,Stronger,Faster"
I was wondering why he looked so similar.
1025 in training,,,,iam crying here at home......
What about having specially developed plates that are much bigger, for squat? So that there's less travel to the floor and less chance of the lifter getting 'stuck' under the bar? Like big wagon wheel type things or half way between that size?

Larry Wheels on the Power cast?

I'live in Tulsa , I've seen Dennis at The Jungle.
Ray Williams is not fat, he is however extraordinarily handsome.
I'm paying for that pizza again right now. Will I ever get off the toilet??? Will Vegeta ever surpass Goku??? Find out next time, on Dragon Ball Z!!!!!

His taste in music is excellent
Ray would be the scariest rapper in the game😂😂😂😂
Anyone know what his graduate work is in? Awesome interview love the content ST crew
Why does Ray always turn his head to the side when he's coming off the chest on bench?
"the thousand five was the easy one" sigh
what a good dude
Silent Mike what are you staring at the whole time?
Cichlid MadMan not that pic for sure
Hes especially quiet in this one
I think you guys weren't giving those spotters enough credit. they caught a 900+ lbs squat no problem right after that bad Kelly branton moment.
those were different spotters than the ones they were talking about, they were talkin about the ones earlier in the day
What for a monster
martin tn that's my neck of the woods!!!!!!!
got the post meet blues :-(
Big ol' teddy bear, love big ray ray
What were his two favourite songs?
You ain't catching 800lbs Mike.
I've been listening to Joe Rogan's PC lately...this is so much more bearable...hahaha.
Mark Henry is a beast, but he was nowhere near an olympic gold medal. Anyways, great episode of the podcast!

Tre Kilinski you mean yury belkin
You mean Yogurt Beltless

not over half of ton, at least not in metric system. Just saying, the squat is more than impressive though.
Filip Kliba
you are absolutely correct, but Jim is referring to the imperial system ton, which is 2000 pounds
This episode is actually pg-13
Bo Jackson is somewhere down in the south. this could have been the guy to get ahold of Bo for you and you didn't even ask him if he knows Bo. I am disappoint.
He doesn't see the Mark Henry similarity?
So bodybuilding.com?
16.40.. money lift. I'm claiming that
you should bring kelly branton to supertraining
Why?
code: powercast is not valid for me. Anyone else?
are you in us?
I am
im not sure than
like number 1000 :)
mark Henry does not have a olympic gold medal
Tim b
Yea he does and this ain't Mark Henry this is Ray Williams.
funny guy too
poor kid.. his dad squat 1000 raw and he likes fake wrestling show
Oh hell yeah Mark read my poop story comment!
While 1005 lbs is an absolutely insane weight, it's not over half a ton.
Chris J imperial ton is 2000lbs..
1 imperial ton =1 016.04691 kilograms
You'll note that 1016 is more than 1000, so half of 1016 would be more than 500 (508 to be exact).

Chris J in America.. where everyone in this video is from.. half a ton is 1000 lbs.. so shut the fuck up Michael
frostedy0 no, you are just dumb as shit and cant count. nowhere in the world is 1000lb equal to a ton. Jim McD admitted to being wrong as well.
Chris J don't give a shit what you think scientifically with your stupid ass system, but here in America .. it's widely known a ton is 2000 lbs
