    Use gpu watch in developer options. My s21 ultra does go down to whatever content is displayed ie 30 Hz on 30 fps video 60 48 20 sometimes 10 with static images. the fps counter clearly can only show 48 60 and 120.
    With gpu watch you can see the actual screen fps ramp up and down while tiping this its at 27 Hz, when I scroll ramps to 120 and than comes back again to 27.
    So it totally works as advertised really cool to see it in action
    Exynos version btw, probably holds true for the s22 and s23 aswell

      that is showing the fps not the refresh rate of the screen i did this on my s21 and it got below 48 wich it cant do

      Those are the fps not the refresh rate, which means that you are seeing the frames that are being created by the gpu, not the refresh rate of the screen. Seems to me that the video is right regarding the refresh rate.

  • @JALC-x
    @JALC-x 3 года назад +16

    something to consider also is that app developers now have the option to optimise their apps to change the refresh rate based on the content being shown, so maybe a year or two we will see things like RUclips videos at 30fps in full screen putting the phone in 30hz refresh rate when you're not touching it

    After doing many tests, my S21U never went to 10hz (not even on static pictures). The lowest I managed to go were 48hz (using Galaxy Max Hz otherwise the lowest I saw was 60hz). 10hz never showed up, not even on AoD. I was reading online and it seems this feature is not optimized correctly yet. Quite sad tbh

      no they didn't lie but I think they disabled it from the software cuz the lower the refresh rate it will be more lagy or just they display is not fast to change from 10 to 24 , 30 , 48 , 50 , 60 , 90 , 120 if they could did it like this it will be so much battery efficient 🔥

    The frame rate display that's in the Dev settings doesn't seem to work asit should. The Ultra model goes down to 10hrtz and the two regular models go down to 48hrtz. I tried using that fps meter to do the same thing but without a reliable outcome.

    Unfortunately developers don't care about optimization for android. Despite innovation by Samsung, google and app developers don't work well in a team with samsung which always leads to poor optimization compared to apple. Google should work closely with samsung to make yhe best phone and software

      AOD will be stuck at 120hz if you turn screen off in low light environment or if screen brightness almost at lowest. It will remain at 120hz until you turn on the screen in a brighter environment, or change brightness higher (like 10%+), before turning screen off again. You can turn on refresh rate counter in Developer Options to see what I mean. AOD will only go to 60hz if you are not in a dark environment and if your screen brightness is not near lowest.

    Maybe if they s21 n s21 plus didn't have adaptive refresh rate they might have better worked on their software which would go as Low as 1hz I wish they had that cause always on display only needs 1hz for no reason its adapted to 60hz and u could force it 2 48hz the lowest it would make more sence if they s21 n plus had high n not adaptive while ultra having 1-120hz would have been better cause that way it would be easier since samsung would have 2 work on less device they might have came with a better software that can go from 1-120hz rather than 48 or 60hz

      @@Joker-yu5kp I have exynos version, so it might be an issue too. If you try photo and video editing on both, you'll understand what I'm talking about, iphone is much faster, smoother and much more optimised. Its camera gives much more consistent result and huge benefit for editing with apple pro raw. Portrait mode is much better too. There's a lot of photo/video apps much better on iphone like focos, even longer, moment pro camera app. Android alternative looks like a child play. Samsung stuffed with gimmicks and half baked features like single take, 8k video, 108 mp. Even Dex is buggy on my LG CX and battery life is just weak, with balanced flagship use i get 5-6 hours screen on time, to get 7-8 you have to disable everything, including 720p 60hz. And then they release expert raw app and i was so excited until i realized its buffer only 3 shots ! And its very slow. I don't know why people say s21u has more features its the iPhone that does. If you need to change icon colors or shapes, than sure android is better, but you have to be like 15 years old to pick that over reliability and consistency.
