Noop! It just put on a new hat and morphed into Billboard's " Hot dance music" charts. It did not even really die for Ms. Summer. Her last big hit was in fact a disco record, the glorious "This Time I Know It's for Real".
Ms. Summers could do what only a handful of other singers male or female singers could do. And that is to just sing the damn song. Not remake it but to interpret and sing it. It's not the big voice because folks like Ms. La Belle has bigger. It wasn't vocal aerobics because she rarely if ever did a run. She just did like Ms. Fitzgerald, Ms. Simone, and Ms. Ross and that is open your mouth and sing.
