I can't believe it's taken this long for a documentary about Donna Summer. She is such a Legend.
LEGEND ONCE IN LIFETIME
LEGEND she Is!!!
Without cheating... Name three Donna Summer albums.
@@teddnagurski5583 1..Donna Summer( Finger on the Trigger, loves in control) 2. The Wanderer 3. I feel Love..Casablanca records
@@kymelieleonard6490 You definitely cheated.
I cant wait for this
Donna singing, “She works hard for the money”, impromptu, AMAZING.
Right??!!! And she looks lovely without any makeup on.
Even Mariah, Celine and Whitney can’t match that … ever‼️
@@marcusvonhohenlohe How much did the devil charge you to rent those lies? Go and get your money back from that thing🙄🙆🏽♂️
@@Leno323 right. Like they're ALL the OG divas. Especially Diana Ross lol
Pitch 🔥
I say Kelly Rowland can play this part because she can go from young Donna to the height of her existence! I NEED THIS! And it would be an Oscar for Kelly! I truly feel this!! In my soul!!
Yes!! And she really looks like Donna too! 👍🏼
Queen Donna looks like Ms Rowland to a tee
@@marcaddow7326 no Kelly looks like Donna because she is younger.
Kelly can't act.
lol yeah that’s what I meant haha
There’ll never be another like Donna. She was a gifted songwriter, a beautiful woman and a truly fabulous singer with a distinctive and powerful voice. Of course she was a complicated person; who isn’t? And imagine trying to navigate that fame. When all is said and done Donna was simply the best and she’s truly missed. She made my life growing up a better experience and she touched millions with her talent xx
Beautifully said - My sentiments exactly! 💕
Disco?!! Donna Summer aka La'Dona Andre Gaines! Superwoman of disco
Diddo!
Absolutely. I was teaching...7 the grade. I taught history and I incorporated TONS of music...all genres.
When she passed away...all the kids came running...some crying...Ms. P. Donna Summer died! Even they knew SHE was special...and we are talking long after MY time...
I was honored to have shared her with my students...
Looks enticing. Can't wait!!! She deserves this and so much more!!! Donna Summer was so underrated and under appreciated. A One Of A Kind Voice from the heavens. Beauty and talent to match. Just like I watched her live concert on HBO back in the 80's at least a thousand times, I'll probably do the same for this documentary!! Thank you Brooklyn, Roger and HBO!!! Your mom was a LEGEND!!!
NO ONE CAN PLAY HER IN A MOVIE, THIS WOMAN WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD TALENT HIGHLY INTELLIGENT BEAUTIFUL PAINTER WRITER WIFE MOTHER AND SO MUCH MORE, DONNA WAS AND ALWAYS WILL BE ONE OF A KIND, THIS MADE ME HAPPY, O I FORGOT SHE ALSO WAS AND ACTRESS, YES LOVE HER FOREVER, RIP DONNA.
@@rogerwinters9856 you obviously didn’t see Kelly Rowland’s Donna Summer costume.
@@msthang5366 Who is Kelly Rowland?
@@rogerwinters9856 google her
@@rogerwinters9856 you’re definitely being funny and that’s not cool 😒
Donna was an amazing talent, She knew how to rock an audience
Donna knew how to Disco an audience for sure ;)
She deserves to be recognized for her talent and personality. I have not heard a voice like hers ever again. A unique strong woman's voice. Can't wait to see this docu.
Irene Cara sounded a lot like her. Both gone too soon.
I second that emotion.
She's a legend.. She's more than recognised ❤
Whitney Houston died in February, 2012.....Donna Summer died in May, 2012. The shock upon hearing the news of both was beyond disbelief. As a pre-1980 Gen-Xer, I cannot wait for this documentary.
Wao the same year?
I had no idea they died the same year. I even looked it up cause I thought you might be wrong, but you are definitely right! Seems not that long ago that Whitney died. I don’t remember hearing about Donna’s death.
When she died MTV didn't mention it. Not a single video or recording of her was broadcast.
@@penelopepitstop762 You had to "look it up" cuz you thought I might be wrong?🤨 l was at work...and I knew about it, via news all over the internet. You had ten years....and you still didn't know?🤨
@@domarq excuse me for not knowing lol
Her voice in her home videos was unbelievable. She just did it like it was nothing. Donna was a real talent
Donna is the reason my favorite genre is disco. I wasn't even alive in the disco era, but her albums are magical ✨️ 😍
By now, you should have also discovered that she was way more than Disco. So much more. Rock, Pop, Country, R&B etc.
@@JimmieJamOfTheDay & Soul. Lots and lots of soul. That song "On My Honor" from the Bad Girls album is a rare song that showcases almost all of the genres and vocal techniques Donna sang all in one song (but almost). :)
Disco is forever my #1 music genre as well and it's thanks to Donna, and The Bee Gees. Amazing talent
Same
@@iamashleyyvette I agree with the both of you.
Donna is a legend in a lane of her own - give her ALL her flowers!!
🌸🌷🌸
Let me say i have been waiting for this since I discovered Donna's voice at 16. I am now 32 and feel so good to see that HBO is distributing the documentary to the masses and that the directors are skilled and her daughter. I hope this will remind the music indiustry and listeners how Donna Summer impacted music. In the meantime navigate to my brief documentary a collection of clips honoring my favorite female vocalist Donna Summer. And bless those a part of this film and may God rest Donna's soul.
Yesss tashia smith yessssss
Aww I was hoping this was a biopic movie!! But I’ll take this as well! We need a movie next starring Kelly Rowland
OMG!!! She deserves a good documentary, she was so important in the history of music, and there are many people who ignore her even today... Love u 4ever, Donna!!!
If they ever make a movie about her life and Kelly Rowland doesn’t get the part! I am not watching!!
OMG i'm allready
passed out !!!!!
Are you okay now? Haha. I hope you survived the 'grand illusion' that will become reality on May 20th, 2023. 😆
One of the most influential artists in music history
RIP The Queen of Disco. I still have tears in my eyes when i see her videos today! 😥😥
THIS BETTER BE OUT ON A 3 HR BLU RAY. Some people leave a mark on popular music. She. Left. A. DENT. The mother of techno
Finally a documentary on the incredible Donna Summer. She’s often been forgotten and overlooked. It’s about time her story is told ❤
I always described Donna Summers' voice as though it came directly from heaven. She could hit these absolutely amazing, powerful notes with absolutely no strain on her face whatsoever. Other singers would have veins popping out of their neck and distorted expressions on their face just to produce vocals that were not nearly as powerful or perfect as Donna's. It was as though she opened her mouth, and this powerful magic just flowed from her vocal cords. She truly, truly was one of a kind.
I also find that she made sexuality and sensuality a divine experience in her music. It was never raunchy. Just pure love
😂 You are right on point! Donna could make singing from a phone book electrifying awesome!!!
Oh my, now she is with the Angels 🙏
This woman deserve an hbo documentary ❤
I still can't believe she's gone, let alone it being ten years. This documentary looks to be a fantastic tribute to someone whose artistry was critically overlooked despite all the chart-topping hits.
THE QUEEN. Donna deserves ALL of her flowers. xoxox
Donna was a true Trailblazer!!! An Icon who deserves more recognition. Can’t wait to watch this! Thx HBO
She deserves to be honored. Her impact on the industry was huge during her time. Her voice was beautiful !
I had a mini heart attack when I saw this pop up! So excited! She was incredible.
Right there with you. The news made my month.
I'm so done...I'm in tears..I can't even breathe...my nieces sent to me...I was shocked my favorite artist of all time and favorite song ever "I Feel love"
Baby boomers where are you at!!!! This woman defined our club years!
Superstar all the way. Underappreciated artist...
Absolutely!! One of THE best voices EVER! And talented song writer too!
This looks sooo good... Probably the most underrated artist of our time
I saw Donna Summer at Carnegie Hall in 1999... there had been controversy over remarks she made about the LGBTQ community and during the concert she paused and asked the crowd, "Do you still love me?" and the crowd went wild.... it was moving because in that moment you could really feel the love.
I always heard about that concert, and I certainly hope it's featured prominently in the docmentary because it's so meaningful, and arguably the most important concert of her entire career. You're so fortunate to have been there. Historic.
I have the year incorrect... it was March 1998. The tickets were a gift for my birthday... best birthday present ever.
What did she say?
Did she sing "I feel loved" right after? Lol
@@trentfarmer9862 I was there! with my friend who was a huge Donna fan and it was like seeing the Pope for him!
My favorite artist. So underrated. I’m psyched for this!!! ❤❤❤
So psyched...Last Dance is my favorite...can't wait to see this...love Miss Summers
What a phenomenal talent and beautiful woman! This looks like it's gonna be good!
If they ever do a biopic movie about Donna and Kelly Rowland doesn't play her, I don't even wanna see it 🤷🏿♀️🙅🏿♀️🙅🏿♀️😂😂😂.
She works hard for the money is my motivation song, Donna is very much missed
Kelly Rowland should do the biopic.
Yes!! 💯% She can REALLY look like Donna!! The resemblance is absolutely there! And she can sing too! 👍🏼
Love her I remember in middle school I did a book report on her . Made love her more and her music and I am here for Kelly Rowland playing her too.
Donna is my favorite pop singer she's extremely underrated.
I have been waiting for this since Elton John's and Freddy Mercury's biopics.
I'm enjoyng my 60s (what else can I do?), but man ... how I wish it was the early 80's again!
I’m right there with you - I appreciate your comment, it actually brought some tears…
Wow that gave me chills! As a child of the 70’s/80’s, I will be watching this.
Donna: The Human. The Legend. The Icon. The Voice. The Queen. Her music is on my channel every week.

Her music was so freakin EPIC!As a fitness pro back in the day?Her music was GOLD for dance and fitness classes.Any of her songs came on?It was time to MOVE!!👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🖤💃🏼Can’t wait to watch this!!!
HBO Documentary about an absolute icon? Thank you, Content Gods.
Loved Donna Summer! 👏🏻👏🏻❤️ she was the 70’s & early 80’s. Danced to her music many times lol
Donna is a movement all by herself❣️
She's the only celebrity I genuinely cried for when she crossed over.....can't wait to see this.
A true artist and innovator that changed the course of music forever! 💜💜
My dad was a wild one. He smuggled me in to see Donna in 1978 under his coat because my sitter canceled 😆… i was mesmerized by her in about 2 secs flat. Never ever forgot it, & I was 4 yrs old at the time! God Bless Donna!!
Donna Summer was one of the very first entertainers I ever became a fan of when I was 4 & I’m still a big fan of Donna’s. I’m so excited about this documentary. I pray they do Donna justice and showcase her as the incredible woman she was and still is.
Donna Summer 4ever!
Yes!! Finally Donna gets some recognition. Dynamic and Decadence, that is Donna Summer. Brilliant and beautiful. Can’t wait.
I love Donna Summer. No one will ever be like her.
I cannot wait for this to come out!! I was devastated when I heard Donna had passed away. She is one of my favorite artists! So underrated for her amazing talent along with her sisters. I am just hoping that sometime in the future we will finally get a digital version of "A Hot Night with Donna Summer"!!! That special was EVERYTHING!! Please please please let it happen!!
Now here's an underrated artist, despite the quality of her music and being massive at the time. Hope the documentary makes her justice.
Love Donna...the Queen of Disco! This will be incredible and we cannot wait!
Yes! She deserves a movie! She was the Whitney Houston in the 70s!
shitney was not an artist her songs are all simple her music was simple. donna's music and singing and mind were all complex like a true artist.
Unfortunately, her peak was just before MTV. Can you imagine a video for "No More Tears/Enough is Enough"???
Woman deserves a movie I said it
Legendary !!!
I just picked up a double lp On the Radio still in the shrink in minty condition for $1 at my local record shop. And I just picked up a double cd of Donna Live, japanese pressing. I still love spinning Donna Summer!
Finally, a proper documentary about a TRUE QUEEN, A REAL ARTIST AND A LEGEND
Donna!! She was a powerhouse! Her live performances were always 🔥🔥🔥!!
✌🏻❤️✌🏻
The LEGENDARY QUEEN OF DISCO!
When I see people mention she was underrated I think it was just plain JEALOUS in the music business, someone was jealous, but it did not stop her,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we love you Donna.
This looks so good. I can't wait to see it. Donna deserves much more recognition than she gets, she was much more than just the queen of disco
She was absolutely wonderful. One of the key voices in the soundtrack of my youth.
SOOOO looking forward to this!!
I can’t wait to see this!! I absolutely love Donna Summer!!
Goddess! 🙏🏻❤️
I'm not sure if it was Showtime or Cinemax, perhaps it was HBO- but whatever & whoever filmed her 1978 LIVE & MORE concert that aired on cable TV, needs to finally get that released on Dvd. NOW is the time. At some point it was going to be released on laserdisc, but that never happened. Then there was talk it was going to be released on VHS video, but that never happened. Would be nice if and when this documentary is released, that it be released on dvd as a 2 disc set- the 1978 LIVE & MORE concert in it's entirety along with this documentary. It's time people.
Queen of disco...bar none
According to David Bowie, one day when they were working on the Berlin Trilogy, Brian Eno ran into Bowie's office with Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" on a 45 single and declared, "I've heard the future!"
i'm happy she's getting more of the recognition she deserves, she's often left out when talking about the greatest singers but she deserves every mention!!!!! ♥
I totally agree! She’s not mentioned as one of the greats such as: Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, etc. she was every bit as good if not better! I’m glad HBO is doing a documentary about her!
Donna set a standard not just for disco singers but all singers. A truly great vocalist. I´ve listened to her for 50 years. She is the still the best.
Finally, some more shine on Donna! One of the greatest vocalists and dance music innovators of all time - wish the world spoke about her impact more. Excited for this documentary!
Props to all of you who after all thease years are still loving Donna Summer.
💚🤗
And, shame to those who stopped because she never stopped loving us. ❤️
Her songs and the production by Giorgio changed p pou music forever…👌
My childhood Donna Summer was great the queen of disco.
I was in complete awe throughout the entire documentary. I got emotional in the beginning and at the end 🥺 Amazing work, and what a way to honor the one of a kind Donna Summer 🌞 I’ve been a fan of hers since I was 12 years old. A true pioneer in music and beautiful lady. Long live the Queen of Disco!!! 💃🕺 🌹🕊️
Can't wait..!! With the greatest of thanks to Donna Summer for gifting us her fantastic music. "There will never be a last dance". I promise you * My Queen" 👑
Donna was an incredible artist ❤
Donna Summer knocked my socks off when i saw her at Pine Knob in 1979 or 1980. I could not believe she sounded. better live than on her recordings.
I am a lifelong Donna Summer fan. One of the best and most powerful voices of all time. She was such a presence!💯
The first record I ever bought with my own money was Donna Summer!! Can. Not. WAIT 🥰
I'd love to see it! So much attention goes to Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston but Summer is often overlooked despite being a major reason why Black music crossed over.
You’re correct and Donna Summer deserves to be mentioned as well.
So Trure!
Donna Summer and KISS for me are the GOATs of Casablanca Records
Donna is in my opinion one of the best gifted female singers all over the world ever. Her sultry image of a woman moaning in songs like Love to love you, Could it be magic, Theme from The Deep was just a gimmick to launch her career worldwide. Since then the music radically changed with her rendition of I feel love. Thank you Donna for your talent and for beginning your career in my native Holland. It was in this small European country where it all happened. The hostage and Lady of the night were hits as a single in the Dutch hitparade over here long before your talent was discovered worldwide !
In my 60s. When I hear any Donna Summer song, I dance as though I'm in my 20s. She will live forever.
It's about time The Great Donna was appreciated. She could sing anything, her voice was so amazing, soulful, powerful & edgy. Donna was so talented & underrated, I hope this documentary does her justice. She was a fascinating, deep, funny, caring & complex woman. I can't stop complimenting her, Donna deserves it & so much more. Donna really was an original, she'll never be forgotten. I hope this documentary will help her to be recognised as the innovator that she was & will always be.
I love this woman!! I can't wait to see this, I was wondering when she was getting a movie.
Even as a kid in the 90s, I always felt this affinity for her out of many of the singers I’ve learned about back then.
Her music (and Pet Shop Boys) was/is SUCH an experience for me. I will always be forever grateful for Donna Summer for sharing her talent and artistry for the world. I don’t think she’ll ever know just how much her work helped others and as a 31 year old millennial who wasn’t around for the Disco era, her music and voice helps me continue to dance and keep hoping for the best for the future. I hope to see a beautiful biopic (with Kelly Rowland of course) that celebrates her music, her life and her place in history.
Loved the musical, but I'm excited for an actual documentary.
This is absolutely fantastic…I was spellbound! I had no idea she was so articulate and creative. She composed and arranged the music for many of her biggest hits including She Works Hard for the Money. She was an artist toward the end of her career and most significantly…a mother!
I'm not much of a fan of Disco, but I always loved Donna Summers and her music. One of the best artists who was taken too soon.
YESSSSS
Donna Summer is in my top 10 favorite artists of all time. I loved her music, her style, and everything about her. I'm looking forward to this documentary. The loss of Whitney and Donna really hit me hard - first Whitney passed, then Donna. SMH
Hands down the best voice I've ever heard, such an iconic fugure in the music industry but no movie yet?? I'll enjoy this documentary for now 🎶 🎵 🎤 💃 🕺
Her voice her style and she was beautiful on the inside as well❤🎉
We forget just how huge she was in the late 70s; hit after hit
I just watched it. I knew nothing about her other than her hit songs. Had no idea what a multitalented being she was.
It’s about time they gave her her flowers.
Growing up, I'd be glued to her album covers in my parents' record collection 😍. Donna Summer was one of a kind, the QUEEN of disco 🙌🏾🔥
"I Feel Love" is absolutely mind blowing, possibly the closest thing to sonic ecstasy ever committed to vinyl. It is certainly among the greatest pop songs ever created. I can just imagine the response on the Studio54 dance floor the first night it played. And as the years go by, it just gets better and better with time. It will never age.
