Congrats Martin. Just wondering how much you focus on diet, nutrition and clean eating in your calming anxiety podcast. Just an FYI I’ve suffered level 5 anxiety attacks since about the age of 5 to 49 when I went whole food plant based eating and eliminated processed foods, dairy, animal protein, and sugar from my diet. Anxiety attacks dropped about 98% over the course of 6 months to a year. Also doing a lot of endurance training which may help. Just an FYI. Cheers.

Holy Crap Pat! I first discovered you back in maybe '09. I had lost my plumbing business during the crash and just about everything else. Taught myself to build a website with Wordpress, built one that sold fence products online and made good money off of it. I learned A LOT from you back then.
Fast forward 12-14yrs, I am back in construction and am a General Contractor now with a successful home building business. I've been tossing the idea around about starting a podcast aimed at contractors (maybe some realtor type stuff too) and cover marketing, SM, and even using AI to help your contracting business. In my searches, here I am. I watched the "Watch This Before Starting a Podcast" and nabbed your podcasting cheat sheet from there, and followed a link to this playlist.
First thing I noticed about you is the beard, and the gray in it! You were such a babyface back in the day. This is a compliment, not an insult LOL, I've got a ton of it in mine now and my daughter wasn't even in kindergarten then and she is graduated from high school and just turned 18 now.
Anyway, as part of my marketing plan this year for my own business, I have started acquiring stuff to get footage on job sites and new homes we are building. That includes a couple of GoPros (Hero 10 and 11) and a DJI Mavic 2. I've started collecting accessories for the GoPros and one important thing was a wireless mic. I went with the DJI Wireless Mic.
2 questions: For just starting out, with the right accessories, will the Gopros and the DJI mic suffice to get started, I am not broke and not afraid to invest in my podcasting business (that's what it is for me), but was curious on your thoughts.
As always, just like over a decade ago, thanks for always being so open to share information! Keep the beard!

Thank you Pat Flynn. Only 1 week ago I explored the overwhelming thought of a podcast. I began this video, ordered the products, created my artwork, description and content list while I waited. I unboxed yesterday afternoon and this afternoon have posted my 1st podcast on FB, Tweeter and updated my directories list. Your video does a great job of breaking the steps down into bite size accessible content. I will check back for more videos after I upload my next two podcasts on the schedule. Why? Because Shifts Happen!

I did some podcasting back in 2008 and 2009. I regret not sticking with it. That said it was painful to push them out with the feeds etc. other than smartphones that make listening super easy, the most magical development is the ease in which services like buzz sprout distribute the podcasts. Amazing.

Hey I'm starting a podcast and by far the hardest thing for me is acting natural during recording. Everyone always tells me how charismatic and naturally gifted at conversation I am, and I agree! I'm frickin great at it, but when I hit record I start to get performance anxiety and honestly I'm just not myself, and if I'm not being me, I don't feel comfortable sharing what I've made. An ytips on how to work through this anxiety?

    • @HighHopes5
      @HighHopes5 2 года назад +1

I had the same issue starting off. Super natural when face to face but simply talking to a mic feels different. Just record, simply recording doesn't have to mean publishing. As you record it's get more natural feeling and smoother.
      Hang in there!

One way to make sure that the spot that needs editing is visible on the wave form is to use a dog training clicker. Hold it in your hand, click when you make a mistake, pause briefly, then re-state the last sentence and keep going. It is always easily seen, and editing is usually just a matter cutting out a small piece.

So I don't know why this is, but I use Studio One 5 (I'm used to it for music production so I may as well use it for podcasting too) and I can adjust everything post recording to keep it from peaking. I can peak like crazy during the recording and then just add some compression or adjust levels afterwards and then it's fine.

Nope, project files are actually quite small. The size doesn't get big until after I export.

Love the info so far, but being new to Podcasting. I started to glaze over at the 8:11 minute mark. I'm sticking with it though. Good info. Just had to step away for a half a minute. Carry on! Time to learn. Here we go. Um yeah. Sorry. A little hyped here. Okay, I'm done now... Why am I still here I have to watch the video. For real. Bye! :)

So good. Appreciate this video. Decided I wanted to start a podcast for my super niche hobby, got a few thousand followers on Instagram so this felt like a good time to do it. Not really knowing much if anything prior in terms of equipment or distribution so this was absolutely perfect. Excited to get rolling :) Thank you.

Get rich and help folks at same time.
Start a local news podcast franchise, helping local folks startup local news and stories.
Every community wants/needs local news. State level as well. Imagine a new network (TMN brodcasting) reporting from homes across the nation.
      Everyone wins
You supply business in a box, you get paid to start up and monthly fees.
Underemployed gets coached throught the startup (hardest part)
Some will fail, but there could be thousands of small local broadcasters across the nation.

Thank so much for this video. I've dreamed for years of doing my own podcast. Your informative and inspiring words will now move me to take the steps necessary. A big confusion has always been whether or not a podcast has to have a video component and for that matter is it still called a podcast w a video component. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. All the best, Craig

Audient EVO 4 or 8 is the most affordable audio interface worth getting for podcasting. Great warm preamps and the ability to record computer audio, my microphone is in Input 1 (my microphone) and Input 2 is the computer audio (Zoom/Guest interview)

Making the commitment! Thanks for the links for equipment. Ordered each item needed to get started, created Buzzsprout account, Chose title for show. Now just to prepare out line for tops and run of show for “Soap Talk with Karen”. Spent many years at the Daytime Emmy Awards, After Parties, was featured annually in Soap Opera Weekly and even reported on the fashion & parties for Soap Opera Weekly (not to mention I have been a loyal fan since childhood) and watch the soaps from the inside out! Thinking that qualifies me as an expert with enough content to fill years worth of shows!
