I watched this video, ordered a Samson 2QU mic, got a free Streamyard account, and I now have a podcast with listeners on Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music and RUclips. Spent less than £100 to get it going. I'll make investments as the podcast grows and improve things gradually. Top tip #1 - buy a good mic first and foremost. The Samson 2QU is brilliant, an absolute no brainer buy!
A small contribution to this valuable video. I've had several business owners volunteer to be on my podcast....but I did not know how to set up for a serious podcast. Thank you for the knowledge drop.
Super helpful! What lens do you recommend for doing podcast at my desk, infront of computer? I have a Sony Alpha ZV-E10. I also watched your all in one youtube studio video where you have everything on one arm on desk. Im going to attempt that set up for my podcasting, but need to tweak mic set up a bit. Thank you so much!
I'm in a Digital Marketing Masters degree program - as a student, I need to start creating podcasts. In my life, I am a streetstyle and [luxury wedding] photographer
BEFORE YOU BUY!! Having tested both I must say Samson Q9U really lags behind the Rode Pod Mic USB, if you can afford it please buy the Rode because you might regret getting the Q9U
I appreciate this video a lot actually. I feel like this is the only video I would need to actually start a podcast. Like from this point on if you just DO exactly what he said to do … you would 100% have a video to release as a podcast.
FANTASTIC video. JUST what we needed. Have been wanting to do this for some time but have NO idea where to even start. Thanks for this content! Stay Awesome.
We are starting out with 4 people on the podcast every week. Then possibly adding a fifth every now and then. We are not all in the same location. Will Streamyard or Riverside be suited for this? Just beginning. Thanks!
This is amazing. Thank you so much. I have been dragging my feet while waiting for my friend to work with me. Thanks to you and this video, i will just start and work on both but my first one will be a solo episode and then interviews after that. Thank you so much!!!
I literally had no clue what to purchase for a podcast. Much less the format of podcast. I wanna do a interview show but I dont have a place to setup. Maybe I should do solo podcasts. Great things to know..!! Thanks so much..!!
I want to make videos of me making art. Probably not interviewing very often. But I'd need to do kind of an over-the-shoulder shot of the art. And maybe 2 or more cameras... ? ALSO; thanks! great video!
I would like to do solo podcast for now until I can build a following. However, I am scared that a solo podcast is boring. Any tips for solo podcasting and engagement?
I'm looking to do something such as a talk show. I just started my Internet TV channel on the Roku platform and this is something that I would like to have.
Another great video Omar and has given me a lot to think about! I would love a deeper dive into the aspects of creating podcast. Maybe things like, How much do you script and how much is organic? How do you approach new guests for your podcast? What prep work goes into your questions? etc.
I want to create a work studio studio n and start streaming and doing Zoom meetings. I have a Shure 7MV. I have a PC instead of Mac. Can you make any recommendations? Thank you
We have a 2-person, in-person podcast. We want to add guests via online (not sure which service yet). We he’s a MacBook (GarageBand), 2 dynamic mics, m-track duo audio interface. Only one of us uses headphones, plugged into audio interface. What do we need to add a guest(s) online? I know the one of us not using headphones will need to use them. Do we need a headphone interface where we both plug into that to hear ourselves and guest? Is it that simple?
yo thanks, you have helped me out a lot. I finally stared my podcast called "The Webinar" and only 3 subs so far hopefully I can get more soon!! really excited about this journey, so happy I finally got it off the ground!!
Wow, this video was super helpful! I never thought about how important lighting is for a podcast. Just a good light can change everything, even if you’re using a simple webcam. Also, using StreamYard instead of Zoom for interviews is a game changer. It really helps with quality and looks way more professional. I was surprised to learn about the different microphone options; I’m definitely considering the Samson Q9U now. Lastly, I love the idea of creating short clips from my podcast to use on social media. That can really help get more people interested! Thanks for sharing these tips!
Great info! Thank you! We are making a studio in the garage for product presentations and interviews for our business. The space is small with low sealings. I would like to hang all the equipment in the sealing, with rollers, so I can move them around. It would be interesting to see if you have any suggestions.
Bought the Rode podmic usb as wanted to use with my iPhone as well as with laptop. Works ok with my MacBook Pro but not an iPhone, either my previous 12 Pro Max or my new 15 Pro Max, and that’s with Rode’s own USB C cable too. Back to the drawing board.
the format of my podcast is both solo shows and interviews. I'll probably mostly be doing interviews for my podcast because it seems like I have a difficult time coming up with ideas for solo episodes. It might just be because I'm thinking that a podcast episode should be a certain length of time. Which of course is not really true, lol.
Great video! Any tips on connecting a Canon camera to Streamyard. EOS Webcam Utility Pro has not been much help. Or do I need to upgrade my subscription?
Hi, many thanks for sharing this…I’m in the process of starting the journey to podcasting and this helped a lot. I have a question about audio, what interface do you recommend to connect more than one mic to the computer? And also, is there a way to do this with an iPad Pro instead of a Computer (just to keep it very mobile).
This is a super helpful step-by-step! Do you have any recommendations for lights, cams, and microphones to include for guests in a video/audio kit if you are doing remote interviews? Same ones as listed in the video? Thanks!
I’m trying to do both, solo and interview. How do we plan the schedule of the video or you just go by flow? And I don’t know how to start the video. Any tips please thank you
Love your video. I've watched it a few times to take notes. Can you direct me to a video that shows me how to hook up the various equipment that you suggested to get started recording? i.e. podtrak 4, video capture card and smartphone camera. Thank you. I am looking to start a interview style podcast.
I have a question. What’s the difference between uploading as a RUclips video or a RUclips podcast? If they both will have video? What are the different benefits uploading as a podcast?
What’s good! It would be fantastic if you could show us how to setup a 4 person podcast with 2 iPhones 📱 and 1 ☝️ Sony a7iv as main camera 📷. Does the iPhone overheat when recording 4k for 40min -1h ? Is there some smart way to do this. I have one set of dji wireless mics also. How do I complement them do I buy one more set and record the audio on the iPhones ?
Yeah I have a podcast and I'm not spending half of what they mentioned in this video. However, the equipment in this video will last a long time because I'm actually trying to upgrade to these things after podcasting for over a year now.
what would you say are the main differences between the Rode NT-USB and the Shure MV7X? There's a £2 difference so just wondering if there's something I'm missing
Should you have two different channels? One for Video Podcast and one for main content? Or can you have them on the same channel since it the same niche
Thanks for this video. I’m trying to get my podcast off the ground. Not sure if all my questions have been answered but it’s very helpful to this point. It’s a combination of solo and interview. It’s called The Ben Maynard Podcast.
Thank you for sharing such an informational video as always. I pray and hope each and every person that is growing their small channel will have great success and will triple their subscribers 🙏
Thanks for the video. Im ordering the microphone. I'm going to record myself with my android phone. Can someone suggest an app to control the microphone and put it with the best audio quality and then record on my Samsung camera app?
Thanks for the content, real quick question I’ve been looking at different options for recording guests that are not in the same space I’ve been looking at Riverside you use stream yard any thoughts? Keep up the great work.
What if your guest relies only on their computer mic? Will there be a huge difference in quality throughout the conversation? If so, can that be improved in Post?
How can I connect my usb microphone to the camera's audio in port? Without using the headphone output. I want to be able to listen in headphones at the same time.

What about the Q2U, it's half the price? Here in Europe the Samson Q9U and the RodePodMic USB are over 200€.
I'm form Sierra Leone West Africa. I'm simply learning a lot from tips on your channel.

Have been kicking around the idea of starting a solo podcast. Shorter episodes but informational and providing tips.
This was helpful!
Uploading at the right time.. I'm starting a podcast before the end of the month

Watching videos like this one is very easy and entertaining as much as it is educative. The real catch is "TAKING ACTION"

really love this channel and the way it’s grown from when it first started 🙌🏾🥰
This is a great video! Can you show us how to upload that mini clip from stream yard on our macs to capcut on our phones?
When I get my new equipment friends and RUclips family. I am going to start podcasting as well edit all my videos. Hopefully 🤞 this year.
Best of luck on your journey! Looking forward to your content.

Hi! great video! So you are capturing the video from your external camera and not the internal Mac/computer camera via Streamyard?
We have a 2-person, in-person podcast. We want to add guests via online (not sure which service yet). We he’s a MacBook (GarageBand), 2 dynamic mics, m-track duo audio interface. Only one of us uses headphones, plugged into audio interface.

Solid video. Do you offer coaching?
The only thing I don’t like about Streamyard is the video quality from your recording is subpar after you down load it. Even set at 1080p.
worse than Zoom? I am trying to find the best option arggh! Thanks!
