your last few videos have brought back such fond memories of my 2007 trip to the coast with my wife stepson and good friends motorcycling and staying at the exact same spots seeing the exact same size. Was a great time in my life.
Gotta say your addiction of Google maps is so helpful in our trip planning that I hope other RUclipsrs will follow suit. I'm a Google Maps addict and plan every move and as a new Class A motorhome owner (37') I fear getting stuck. Love your vids.
Beautiful, Ray! Thanks so much. Only beach I'll see for this whole year and I can't imagine a prettier one. Bless your journey south. So glad the weather is extra nice.
I always look forward to you videos you show what RV living is about, the views and interesting places and I like you product reviews once in a while, some of the other full timers have turned in to a sales pitch and a commercial and nothing about their travels.
Thanks, I try to have a blend of things showing what we're up to. :) Getting a free product is nice but I don't do any paid for sponsored content They can send me stuff but I reserve the right to say what I want about it. I try to only pick stuff that I like and that will be put to use by us. Cheers, Ray
Nice video, we always end up all the way on the top and I found that there to back in takes some expert work. I am still a novice in that area. But the park it self is worthy of staying in. Thanks for the share.
I'm really impressed by the new camera - beautiful video and I love the stereo recording of the sounds of the surf. Guess I'm gonna have to start saving my pennies!
Terrific video Ray! What a beautiful area. I was kind of surprised at how full the park was. I would have thought the crowds would have thinned out by now, but maybe if the weather stays mild there through the winter it never thins out. We had a tough time getting campgrounds when we visited our son in Portland this summer. We were lucky to get a couple of days at a campground and then would have to scramble around to find another place to stay. But it all worked out and we had a terrific visit. I'm anxious to do more exploring along the Oregon coast!
That was a lovely walk first thing in the morning. That beach reminds me of the coastline of Ireland or Scotland. It is quite something that there is pollution from the wildfires in California. Where I am in Brighton on the south coast of England sometimes we get pollution that has travelled all the way from Paris.
A large fire, over 225 square miles, forest fire smoke goes a long way. This summer in BC smoke from forest fires hundreds of miles away turned our visibility on the coast to less than a mile for a few days in a row.
Ray, look on RUclips for your DEF. read about how to tell the day they make the fluid ? Code dates. Will help on you DEF. Only add when the light comes on. Why? Well if you put more in at 1/2 tanks you might get water that’s bad. So look on RUclips for code dates.really will help you out. So far looks like your haveing fun so far on this trip. See you in Az or Calif soon.
Thanks, watched a pretty in-depth video on it a while back ruclips.net/video/Tvh7-KhGlzo/видео.html Seems like a lot of opinions out there on it. Many conflicting. Some say only use the truck stop pumps, others say don't and only use fresh boxes. Others say the date freshness is overblown others seem very concerned about. Then there are others spouting old myths and problems that have been fixed over the years since the systems were first introduced. Luckily it doesn't seem like you have to add it that often. Cheers, Ray
There is some hit & miss with the Oregon State Campground reservation system, especially during off season. When you go online some spots or loops will say "not available". It may still be available; but not for reservations. i.e. Nehalem Bay State Park. So you may in fact be able to drive up and stay longer than 1 night and not have to move. I have called the ranger or Camp Host and asked on several occasions if in fact it really is "not available" or just "not available" for reservations. Results differ by park. .
I usually see folks at the front info boards scratching their heads trying to figure out the convoluted systems. Used to be pretty straightforward before they farmed out the reserve system to Reserve America
@@LoveYourRV you are correct. 40+ years of RV-ing (not a full timer) I have found the current system problematic; a bit hit & miss. Late Sept on the Rogue River , the State campground had numerous spots marked "reserved" at the sites & no one's name on the "board"; yet unoccupied the 10 days we were there. Both the Camp Host & Ranger had no idea why, other than telling us they must be reserved for the next night or two after we asked. It was available for one night at a time though. In the10 days never were occupied. Seems to me we should have been able to fill out the reg card and committed to more nights and the host or Ranger have the capacity to go online and mark it as such if available for that many nights (?). Better have reservations 9-12 months in advance for a Coast spot during summer months! Off season, sets a new set of 'rules'. I have addressed these issues with the State and was told when the contract is up (2019) new software will be implemented. Not sure how that will solve anything; but we'll see i guess...Thanks for the reviews.
Watch the satellite smoke views and the check smoke forecasts, then drive through. :) The fires aren't the problem, just would like to avoid the thick smoke, had enough of that this last summer in BC, was a bad season for wildfires.
Hi Ray, I started out on the road solo on Halloween. I'm wondering something(s), if you had to do these trips alone, how would it effect your travels? Do you imagine that you'd continue with what you're doing? I'm getting lonely..... :)))
I guess it depends on your personality, I was single until I was 40 so was used to being alone a lot and liked it and met Anne who was much the same. We both like to be away from the crowds. I think I would be OK, likely get a dog if anything with the RV life I have more friends than I know what to do with. :) I'm always meeting people.
@@LoveYourRV Heading into TX tomorrow for 40 days (I'm from NY). Maybe I'll turn a corner when there. Btw, I am loving it. Just not used to being this alone (yet).
Depends where you are, the southwest is full of different elevations from below sea level up to over 6000 feet. The time of year most people stay in the lower places of SoCal and AZ like Palm Springs, Yuma, and Phoenix regions. Temps average around 65-70. You'll get cold fronts pass through and temps dip into the 50s and warm spells into the 80s. Mos nights are from freezing to mid-40s. Desert cools fast a night, once the sun goes down temps can drop 20 degrees quickly. Low humidity. As spring nears things warm up and the higher elevations are warmer, people tend to migrate into Utah, New Mexico, and Nevada. If you go to Accuweather and click the monthly data for a town you can see historic averages - www.accuweather.com/en/us/apache-junction-az/85120/december-weather/331814
This is from the Oregon Parks statewide FAQYou can stay 14 consecutive nights in a regular campsite, yurt or cabin in a single campground, and may return after spending at least three nights out of the park (it can be another state park campground; in fact, we recommend you DO select another state park campground). The maximum time allowed within any campground is 14 nights within any 17-night period. The maximum stay for hiker/biker sites is 3 consecutive days in a 7 day period, per campground.
Um my house was in the footage... but its still really cool p.s. by the time i post this comment the water will be freezing like ice and thats really cool I was on the beach just 45 minutes ago
If I was shopping in the same price range I'd seriously look at one. But to be honest we haven't gone RV shopping for many years now so don't really know what's out there and how the Cougars are now.
Back in the day Oregon protected a larger portion of the coastline from development and gave public access. www.oregonencyclopedia.org/articles/oregon_beach_bill/
Yes, will do when we are ready. Love dogs. :) Taking advantage of the extra freedom we have for a little while after over 15 years of dog ownership. They are great but do impede some stuff, especially in a full-time RV situation. Cheers, Ray
I've lived in Oregon for 64 years and never knew this was there.Thank you
Oregon coast just beautiful
Sure is. :)
Nice video, Thank you for sharing this.
I don't get out much anymore and this is one of my regular spots.
Vicarious moment for me 😊
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Beautiful area. Enjoy the weather while you can.
We have stayed there twice. Great weather for you this time of year. The sound of the waves crashing on the rocks just never gets old. :)
You guys take some awesome pictures!
Thanks!

Very beautiful Ray ! What a nice morning hike, I can almost smell the crisp ocean air from Pittsburgh ! Thanks !
Beautiful spot...Man, that trail down to the beach was amazing...Thanks Ray...Cheers

Wowzer! Thanks for the hike down to the beach.
