    Jeez. That overheating issue is an instant deal breaker. Thanks for the review mate, was genuinely considering this one but no modern smartphone should be running into overheating issues while gaming, especially if it's clearly going after that specific market. Suppose Xiaomi cared more about the specs on paper than actual results under load. Very unfortunate. I wonder if tweaking with a bit of an underclock + undervolt might work to resolve that, but that's really not the responsibility of the end-user. Hope they're able to get it under control themselves without having to nerf performance too much.

    What would make me want this phone right now is if Xiaomi implements bypass charging to their gaming phones, like this one. Both of their most recent gaming phones have 120W charging, an odd choice since most of those people would prefer durable and longer lasting batteries. Implementing bypass charging is a big game changer for this, which I think could be possible like how RoG phones do that with even 67W chargers.

    Much like One Plus with the 7 Pro, Poco's peak was the F2 Pro, a fabulous smartphone with a premium build.
    There I am on a Poco F3, but without lying I regret my F2 Pro 😥.
    The F2 Pro had nothing to envy a 13 Pro Max or S22 Ultra in terms of build quality and premium feel.
    It just lacked a 120 Hertz screen and optical stabilization on its main sensor.
    The Poco F3 should have been a K40 zoom with at least 90 Hertz.

    I was really looking into buying a K40 gaming edition but noticed that a few reviewers couldn't even complete benchmark tests, I'm guessing due to heat. That was with a Dimensity 1200 chipset, which doesn't really run hot. I think that they have taken the same vapor cooling chamber design for this new Gen 1 chip in the POCO F4 GT. That obviously isn't going to work out. I did eventually find a reviewer that stuck a cooling fan attachment onto the K40 gaming edition and retested it. Genshin Impact went up by 10 frames per second. Chris, if you have a cooler cold you retest this phones gaming performance. That is a video I think a lot of viewers would be interested to see. With the improved AetherSx2 Playstation 2 emulator and Skyline emulator apps, you could walk around with a PS2 and Switch combo in your pocket with the power of a Gen 1 chipset. It does need to be cooled proper though. Thanks for the review.

    • @Techtablets
      @Techtablets  2 года назад

      I did a small test now with a PC case fan 140mm and it only too about 5 minutes to see the FPS go from mid 40s in Genshin to lower 50fps. It really does help so I think it needs a little fan in it like the Redmagic series.
