Great vid. "The Enchanted Sea" by The Hula Girls is the best version of that song. The video is amazing. I always listen to it in the corner with a Daquiri while sucking my thumb. Great show as always.
Tiffany is one of my favorite people to go on the show! This is honestly a great episode!! I love seeing the different reviews on the rums!! Both of you make a great episode!!
Need more rum showdown episodes!! Zombie and mai tai shows would be amazing! Blind rabbit one go figure would win haha! I remember throwing down a few of those to start the night out with ya spike!
Great idea for a video, Spike! I really enjoyed watching. I guess I need to get a bottle of Flor de Caña! One you missed that I like, is Plantation 3 Stars. This might of been a good episode to squeeze the limes before filming! 😊
Yeah, I think I'm gonna need to do a followup with this video... Maybe with a bartender who has more familiarity with rum. And yes, the two rums that I need to include next time are Plantation 3 and Havana Club.
Another ones to try are Bacardi Heritage (super hard to find, but the closest to the original daiquiri rum), Diplomatico white which is aged SIX years and is 94⁰(!) and the best value handle, Cruzan white.
Hello Spike's This comparison must have been very good. My favorite daikiri rum is Habitation Velier Forsyths Worthy Park. It is a fantastic rum for any preparation. Cheers 🍸.
Love Daiquiris ..... I recommend Kasama rum from the Philippines ..... Wonderful soft easy vanilla notes with low lying tropical fruit flavours .... A must try 😉
Smith & Cross is half my rum blend for a mai tai along with Eldorado 8, that jamaican funk works well with that aged demerara rum and I work half an ounce of demerara syrup just to make balance it out a bit more. Turns out sweet, citrusy, slightly nutty, and funky. Also, I'm a huge fan of the painkiller, I like them with plantation 5.
Seriously --- this is one of your best episodes! Watch Spike get Tiffany toasted! With a toast-toast here, and a sip-sip there ... Here a toast, there a sip, and Tiffany's eyes begins to slip! Toast, Spike! Toast! I was rolling, man!
This was pretty entertaining and I do think Spike should have some cocktail peanuts available :) - I do like Flor de Cana for Daiquiris but also Havana Club and Denizen 3 Year is an interesting one, a pot and column blend.
I would be confused too if I were Spike’s guest right now. Course I would be really grateful to be in the Breezeway tasting rums with a talented musician.
(Trying to get caught up) Spike this was fantastic EP. Tiffany is my fav Sp's Breezway guest. I was hoping to see then reaction after the shot. Darn. I vote for a Daiquri part 2 (other rums) &/ or the Painkiller w/ her. This EP had mojo!
I've rated 5 of these 6 in Daiquiris. Unfortunately, I don't have Hidden Harbor, though I recall it being great when I tasted it at The Hukilau. My only recommendation would be less lime and simple. My standard is 2 oz rum and 1/2 each of lime and simple. So here are my ratings ... 1. Smith & Cross 2. Foursquare Probitas 3. Cana Brava 4. Hamilton White Stache 5. Flor de Cana
I think these are the exact opposite of Spike and Tiffany 😉 ... But that's OK. I'd actually prefer Havana Club Anejo 3 Años, which is very clean and crisp in a Daiquiri.
@@atomicgrog she REALLY dislikes that pot still flavor, so the Smith and Cross wasn't even a contender. I would be happy to be served any of these drinks. I made a Hidden Harbor daiquiri last night and in the context of on its own, it was incredible. The side by side thing kind of skews perceptions...
Tiff's A Good Sport & A Sweet Gal (EZ On The Eyes Too!). Seems like the top challenge here was keeping the cocktails crisp. Havana bartender Constantino Ribalaigua Vert invented the drink at El Floridita & preferred using a blender. Looks like a good time at the BW!
Probitas (named Veritas in Europe) is the best for Daiquiris. Smith & Cross + Depaz VSOP for Mai Tai and El Dorado 3 YO or Flor de Caña 4 YO for Mojitos. My selection.
Well, it's Friday, and I did my own comparison to supplement yours. Didn't want to get too imbibed, so just made 2 Daquiries. Hamilton white Stache vs. Plantation 3 star. .75 lime juice, .5 rich simple, 1 ounce rum. Yeah, I know, should have been 2 ounces, but that was my doze for this evening. I liked both cocktails, with Hamilton being slightly more "pure", i.e. maybe a bit less funk, but I would drink either one and be happy. One another subject, you observed that one of the cocktails you made was too limie, perhaps that lime was too sour out of the batch? Next time, maybe make a batch of lime juice first and mix it, so that it is consistent throughout all the samples you make.
I think I'd like to try this episode again with someone who is more versed in rum... see how the outcome differs. Hidden Harbor really is a great daiquiri.
Very true. But I also made a Hidden Harbor Daiquiri while this episode premiered and it was delicious. It's really hard to compare daiquiris to each other when the rums all bring something different to the table.
The Flor de Caña is great in the daiquiri. The Hamilton White 'Stache is on my list to try. Probitas is not my favorite in this cocktail. Now, for as cheap as it is, I also really like Don Q Cristal. My daiquiri favorite so far though is the El Dorado 3yr. (Occasionally I'll reduce this to 1.5 oz., and add back 0.5oz. of Barbancourt Blanc for a twist.)
@@sergisamongas I really like the Barbancourt 4 and the 8, but for me at least, the Blanc has more of that "agricole" quality to it (hence the twist on flavor, in a good way!)
@@DB-uv1st I have 6 bottles of white rum, but opened only 2 so far, as I am more into darker rum. White Stache and Plantation 3 star. Both are good when mixed with proper pairings of ingredients.
Ice chips are considered beautiful in Japanese bartending. You have to use a cobbler. They also have perfected the daiquiri. You gotta use granulated sugar not simple for a daq. Simple really ruins the mouthfeel and flavor of the daq.
I don't think having the owner of a rum company taste other rums would be fair... but yeah, maybe someone with a bit more of an educated pallet... maybe a bartender?
I had to look up ''Cadillac Margarita.'' Urban Dictionary drew a blank, but Wikipedia had it. It's made with Gran Marnier instead of Triple Sec. Well, I've been using Gran Marnier in my MaiTais. So are they ,,El Dorado MaiTais''? I tried a Hemingway Daquiri one time. Kinda brutal. Effective if somebody was gonna saw your arm off -- after a couple, you wouldn't care. Not a Daquiri guy.
Absolutely Brandon! I need a large collection of rums myself; I just finished a bottle of Clement Martinique Rhum Agricole and I’m missing it already. Now I’m limited to Cruzan Aged Light Rum, Myers Dark, and Vermont’s own Mad River Distillers First Run Demerara rum. I recommend it.
No one ever tries Ten to One white when they do daiquiri rum comparison videos. I guess they dont have very good distribution. Ive had every rum in this video with a daiquiri, I like Ten to One more. Hamilton is better value, but Ten to One makes the best daiquiri.
Flor de Cana does NOT work in this, neither does Smith & Cross. Plantation 3 Star is my absolute favorite. Plantation Stiggins Fancy Pineapple works too.
I’m never without at least two full bottles of S&C. I’m one of those “swear by it” folks! So good for a generally 30 dollar bottle. Love the daiquiri testing! ❤️🫡. (Edit to add: Like Oh my gawd! Valley Girls still exist!) Totally bitchin! 💃💃❤
Getting drunk with models, tough job Spike but someone has to do it. Keep up the great work!
You should definitely do more videos with this tasting format!
Great vid. "The Enchanted Sea" by The Hula Girls is the best version of that song. The video is amazing. I always listen to it in the corner with a Daquiri while sucking my thumb. Great show as always.
😂😂😂 I was like, where did she get THAT from??
I really hope to see the Painkiller episode with Tiffany soon!! It’s summer Time!!
Ernie Hemingway would question your daiquiri tolerance, but this was a fun watch!
Thanks Spike.
hahahaha....
Tiffany is one of my favorite people to go on the show!
This is honestly a great episode!!
I love seeing the different reviews on the rums!!
Both of you make a great episode!!
Thank you so much!!
That Smith and Cross daiquiri was pretty tasty!
Another Great Friday Evening with Spike and the Breezeway Ohana!
This was just so much fun! Thanks, Spike & Tiffany!

Always fun to see side by sides. Thanks!
Another fan of the comparison videos. I'm a Don Q Cristal version fan. Thanks for another great video!
You’ve absolutely outdone yourself here, wow!
Love seeing calls finally! Tiffany is gorgeous too, and the way she used to hold a wine glass 😳 jinkies! Easiest episode on the eyes by far.
Love Daiquiris ..... I recommend Kasama rum from the Philippines ..... Wonderful soft easy vanilla notes with low lying tropical fruit flavours .... A must try 😉
Ooo... I'll look for it the next time I'm at the store.
Great video Spike. Since you asked, I like Kaniche XO in my daiquiri.
The Kaniché Perfección is also excellent (but I've not tried it in a daiquiri...)
@@DB-uv1st I heard it is drunk neat, but have not tried it yet.

“Me hurting myself and pretty girls laughing”. Yeah, my high school experience too, though I was not a daredevil. I was just naïve.

Awww yeah - it’s Tiki time and I’m relaxing with the classic daiquiri! Aloha from Burlington, VT 🐄🌴🍹🗿

I really should have at least had Havana Club in the episode too
@@BreezewayCocktailHour but which Havana Club? Cuban or Puerto Rico?

Denizen 3 (white) is an awesome daquiri rum as well. I forgot to vote for that one in the fb poll.
