My cousin and I have been to tiki bars all across the US (and some outside the US) and we BOTH came to the conclusion that Golden Tiki is our favorites. The music, the vibes, the drinks, the decor, the attention to detail, the size of the place, the BATHROOM, all of it earned its place as best tiki bar we’ve ever been.
I have been to both Frankie’s and The Golden Tiki both are great but yes very different experiences. Anxious to check out the Red Dwarf. Great episode one again I hope Ms. Larissa can come back soon it’s great when she is on the show. These Bar Reviews are great keep up the great work
I just knew Larissa would love the Golden Tiki! I celebrated my Birthday there last year around Viva Las Vegas and met up with Spike, so lots of great memories! Hope to get back there soon and check out the Red dwarf.
As a local, we love all the different ones for like you said, different reasons. One of these times we need you to partake in one of our Sin City Tiki meetups. The only thing better than the three bars you mentioned, is the incredible home tiki bars that we have. Vegas is a great spot for home tiki bars, and a great community of tiki nerds!
Golden tiki is/feels very Disney/movie/fantasy version of a tiki bar. Frankie's is/feels like an old Vegas dive bar and almost old tiki. Also next time try tiki amore. It's a patio tiki bar attached to an Italian restaurant
Red Dwarfs pizza was sooo good and the bartender there was awesome, so welcoming and just a cool dude. Wish I could remember his name. He made Red Dwarf a must stop whenever I'm in Vegas.
Going to the Golden Tiki a few years ago and seeing the Swank Bastards with Szandora dancing was epic. And the complimentary Dole Pineapple rum drink was a nice way to start off the evening.
Frankie's is probably the favorite for my wife and I, Hale Pele was our home bar for a decade, now that we're Michiganders Max's Hideaway is our home, but Frankie's has the full vibe down to the smell of cigarette smoke in the air!
The only Tiki bar that I've been was at Three Dots and a Dash in Chicago. That was an awesome place, and the Tiki drinks were so good. I should explore more Tiki bars whenever I travel around. 😎👍
My favorite video you've done so far and mainly because the only thing I love as much as tiki is VEGAS! I will have my ashes spread at The Golden Tiki. Had my 50th birthday there and immediately felt like I was in my tiki mecca! I vow to finally get myself into Frankie's this year's trip to sin city and now I think I'll check out Red Dwarf too. Thank you both, for the awesome rundown!!! Much Aloha!
I just got back from Las Vegas and loved Frankie's and the Golden Tiki, thanks for the recommendations! I liked Frankie's because it was like stepping back in time during the golden age of Tiki, the Nui Nui was really good. The Golden Tiki felt like a modernized tiki bar and I loved the artificial sky with the shooting stars the most. There I had the Tiki-la Sunrise that had Italicus in it. Never had Italicus in a tiki before and loved it!
love Goldenz and Frankies! need to checkout red dwarf! My parents recently retired near vegas, so I go pretty often. The whole speakeasy, immersion bar scene is blowing up there, HIGHLY recommend the SKI LODGE slainte!

Heading to Vegas next month for Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn. Looking forward to returning to Frankie's and trying Golden Tiki for the first time. Love your channel ❤🌺
@@BreezewayCocktailHour My bad, I call The Golden Tiki the Las Vegas Tropical Hideaway because of the Disneyish theme. They even have a "Shrunken Ned".
It's hard to really compare Golden Tiki to Frankie's. They have two very different vibes. My experience(s) were that the Golden Tiki was engaging from the moment I got out of the taxi - they pipe out vintage music. Inside, it felt more like a Disneyland dark ride/attraction. One time, they had an animatronic talking bird like the Tiki Room at Disneyland and even had a "volcano show" with thunder and lightning with the dancing hula dolls from 'It's a small world'. Frankie's had a more of a mellow, laid-back old-school/dive bar vibe. Thanks for your review. It's always interesting to hear your take on this kind of thing. I'll have to check out the Red Dwarf next time I go.
Unfortunately I have never been able to get into Golden Tiki. Frankie's is always my go to spot. Couple of Surf Dragons and I'm good to go. Love the atmosphere and the service is fantastic. Will have to try the other two.
Excited for this - am planning to pop up at Golden Tiki in March and would love to have you and any of your viewers as a guests....deets to follow. 🙏🙏🙏
I agree with MQ on the Painkiller and judgment. I like a good Painkiller and want to taste the Pusser's in it, but I also make more of them for newbies to my room as kind of a door opener to the world of tiki cocktails. The newbs are then shown something like Macademia Chi Chis then I tell them there is a whole different world.
I love these rating videos. Personally, I put all tiki bars into tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 based on how many of the tiki core elements they deliver. I use these three elements: Quality of Drinks, Decor and Lighting, and Music. If a tiki bar hits all three, they are tier 1, if they have good drinks and the place looks great, but they are playing rap music as an exaple, they are tier 2. Lastly, if they only hit 1 of the three, they can be called a tiki bar by being in tier 3, but not worth going out of your way to visit. Notable tier 1's that I have had the privilege to visit include Smugglers Cove, Trader Sam's, Max's, Three Dots and a Dash, Hale Pele, and Devils Reef. Cheers.
When I visited in October Red Dwarf had the best cocktails compared to Frankie’s. Russell was behind the bar at RD and he was wonderful and knowledgeable about tiki. I like all 3 bars but I wouldn’t spend much $ on drinks at Frankie’s. It is a beautiful bar to visit for sure.
Judge away hot stuff.... Px Killer All Day.... LOL > Thanks for the content, just got back this AM from Vegas, but ran out of time before I could hit a Tiki this trip.
Golden tiki was perfect, I later ran into the bartender I had there at Tiki Kon in Portland and he was really cool. The drinks I got at Frankie's were not good at all. I was told that because it was the weekend they may have had a 'filler' bartender from another place. The bar itself was cool though and I still had a good time. Next time perhaps
Frankie's might be inconsistent. I'm not 100% sure they always shake the drinks and they clearly use some cheap ingredients. Not that they don't pull some of them off well.
A painkiller is a great drink, but yeah it's also one of the lower effort faster to make tiki drinks. There's nothing in a painkilled that really requires much in the way of prep or that' terribly hard to find. It's a great drink to introduce someone to tiki drinks with something more balanced than the junk that most hotels serve. So I can see her point of "I'll judge you if it's your favorite" but there are ways to fancy it up and make it more interesting too.
Go ahead and judge, I do really enjoy a Pain Killer. That being said, can it really be called a Tiki cocktail? Also, next time you’re in Vegas and you want to try a non-Tiki bar, try Herbs & Rye (after they rebuild from their recent kitchen fire), Velveteen Rabbit, Esther’s Kitchen, and Carson’s Kitchen. All but Herbs & Rye are in the Arts District or Downtown.
Spike looking for a recipe from the Kon Tiki bars that used to be in the Sheraton Hotels back in the 70’s/80’s called the AKU AKU COCONUT it was one of their best selling drinks can you get the recipe?
Last time I was in Las Vegas for the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly weekend, I popped into Frankie's and the Golden Tiki that would have been April 2019. loved them both!! Still have two mugs from Frankie's!
My wife and I have been to 40 and counting tiki bars. Vegas is our home and we like all three you mentioned but unfortunately Golden Tiki just isn't as cool as it used to be. The amount of lame stars and Hollywood clowns they post on their social media all the time has made them less cool in my humble opinion. It doesn't necessarily take away from the amazing decor and good drinks but definitely brings it down a notch cool factor wise; making it more of a place to be seen than just an amazing tiki bar. I guess I don't and never will see tiki bars as a hip place to bee seen. Frankies will always be our spot. I was there literally the fist day they opened and I'll go there until I can't!
BrooklynTiki checking in here. Ask Frankie's is the classic old school style. Yeah that's thick layer of smoke on it and everyone there being older than you. Golden tiki is pretty awesome but it really feels like it's run by kids who are trying to one-up each other with being mixologists. Add in a dash of I know the history better than you do kind of attitude. But I'll never not go to Golden tiki. Red dwarf is just the anime version of tiki. what I care about is that tiki lives on in three very and distinct places. I'm looking to buy a house in the Scotch 80s right next to Frankie's.
The show needs a new segment, What Would Spikes Mum Say, apparently no to Larissa having a shot of Demon Semen, who ever came up with that name needs their mouth washed out😂
Love that Golden Tiki is now selling prints of their wallpaper bc people keep ripping bits of it as a souvenir 😂
