As an artist, who’s always worked with mediums, like graphite, Pastel, or paints, I’ve been shocked by how intimidating figuring color pencil out has been! Your explanations were so helpful, and it was really entertaining watching this entire portrait take shape . Thank you so much for this ❤️. I feel like I can breathe a little easier next time I pick up my pencils 😅!

    - light to dark
    - shadows: warmer color but darker in tone
    > same Color to shape hair bc it’s darker value than skin
    - establish local color (color not affected by different light source) 17:50
    - for hair get value right
    - greyish green color because hair less warm
    - reddish tint for eyes and cheeks and nose and ears to bring life to skin
    - bring warmer Color to dark shadows on down facing plains like on the lid
    - darker values should be darker than light (shade it more)
    - bringing out green for contrast because most of the skin is already warm color
    - add third Color in transition area (two diff solid Color)

This video was super helpful. I've mostly worked with graphite, and was feeling lost trying to do a figure scene using prismacolors. I stumbled upon this video today, listening to you describe/watching you execute solutions to things I was struggling with, and felt excited afterwards to have fun and try things. My approach went from timidly trying to minimize my use of colors and rely mostly on values, to having fun mixing colors and seeing things develop better than I envisioned. Using warm colors in the shadows, colors to transition between two colors, the use of pink in certain parts of the face, etc, were all things I hadn't tried, and have been fun!

@@ChrisHongArt oh absolutely, the less popular are somehow more stuck with me, like painting in gouache yourself on the market with all the mushrooms and jams... also I love your ``last year`` videos where you show all your artwork and kinda reflect on what you did and how you felt... hope to see more of that if you can:)))))))
