I just received my Mini, Instant Pot pressure cooker and was looking for a video on how to cook chicken with just the pressure cooker and nothing else. You fulfilled what I was looking for and thanks for the simple, easy to follow instructions!
same!~ I got a mini at goodwill for 12$, got new seals just arrived, did the water test/steam and now i bought chicken. little nervous, but seeing you do it-- 2o min hmmm ok! i'll try it in a bit. tyvm
I was curious about how long you pressure-cooked the chicken thighs and what the results looked like. You demonstrated all that. Thank you for your helpful video!
I do just that. Brush with some melted butter with seasoning mix. Be careful they don't dry out. Leftover pot juices can be reduced over low heat drained, strained and used as stock.
Thank you for the tips! 😊 Holding the button to set the time and using the lid holder is super helpful. I’m glad you found the recipe useful! If you have any other tips or questions, feel free to share! 🍽️✨
Good Afternoon, Thank you for your video!. My question is how long do I let the pressure naturally release after the cooking its done? Warm Regards. :)
You can quick release the steam right away when it’s done cooking (no need for natural release). But if you prefer natural release, you can do it too (for 5-10 min), it won’t change the outcome 😋
@Melanie Cooks Thank you very much, I did 12 min natural release after. The outcome smells terribly delicious! Definitely different than on my InstantPot Air Fryer. My AirFryer dries my food and barely gives it any flavor after i have seasoned it. With this InstantPot Pressure cooker instead Its a very pleasant smell! And hopefully [once I'm done cooking] pleasant flavor.
@MelanieCooksRecipes yesterday I tried one of Greek recipes don't know if I call it right, frumenty put around 500ml water and when I opened it almost the food was close to burn as it didn't have any more water
There must be a problem with your Instant Pot. Maybe it didn't seal properly? It can happen if the silicone ring on the lid is not fitted properly, you can try taking it off and putting it back on.
@@MelanieCooksRecipes for sealing it was ok..the ring also was in its place...so you are telling me as much water as you put it doesn't at all vaporize?thank you for answering
I think your Instant Pot is broken. I would try buying a new one and trying again (you can always return it too). Most of the water stays in the pot. Some water leaves in the form of steam (after you do a steam release). While it's cooking, none of the water leaves (as it turns into steam that is sealed inside the pot)
I think Air fryer cooked chicken turns out much better as far as texture and flavor. but between Instant pot and air fryer, there's not much you can't make. Two must haves .
Nice. I used the covered pot-in-pot method so my sauce would not be diluted with cooking water or condensed steam. I placed .skinless dry rubbed drumsticks in the small pot. I whipped up a marinade in a small food processor made from a bunch of stemmed parsley, an orange ( no lemons on hand), fresh pressed garlic. Spooned that over then covered, placed on the red silicone sling and set it in the i.p. inner pot. Pressure cooking takes longer with indirect heat of p-i-p but the result is like crock pot except 1/5 the cooking time. Nice body to the sauce. Drumsticks are done at 165 but taking them to 190 the meat falls off tghe bone and is super tender and moist.
EVO and butter was in there too. Must have oil + acid for the marinade to tenderize as it cooks. The bone will completely separate, serve over veggies or grain.
I omitted using table salt in my foods after learning that it is very bad for your brain because of the minerals taken out of it and bad additives are added. I learned this after watching FlavCity on RUclips. He has a lot of useful information about what foods are good for our body and which ones to avoid. Thanks for your pressure cooker video on chicken legs. I'm going to to use paprika and Morton's all purpose seasoning to season mine with. Take care.

I was looking for a easy recipe to cook chicken and I found it. Thanks for your channel!
You are welcome, Stephanie!
Thanks a ton! I was looking all night for a video on cooking the chicken like this.
My pleasure 😊
I love the instant pot - keeps the chicken moist - I also put it in the broiler to darken the skin.
Thank you for sharing
You are welcome, Veronica!
what temp and time do you set the broil option??
Yup got my legs in my instant now thanks for A great video easy to follow.
Glad you liked the video!
Thanks for recipe, I like recipes with instant pot. Very useful for every day, especially for people from big cities

Do I need to adjust the time if my legs are still frozen?
Add extra 5 min cooking time for frozen
2 years later and your video is still getting views, thank you so much, blessing ❤

Looks amazing! I'll be trying this soon.
Awesome! Please let me know how they turned out!
Would you also recommend 5 minutes in an Air Fryer on either "broil" or "air fry" mode to crisp up the skin?
I do just that. Brush with some melted butter with seasoning mix. Be careful they don't dry out. Leftover pot juices can be reduced over low heat drained, strained and used as stock.
Yes that's a great idea!
I just tried this. Yummy. Thank you.

Just hold the button til it gets to 20. And put the lid in the lid holder on the side. Thanks for the recipe.

My tip: Instead of dirtying a plate, you can do all the seasoning in the pot, other than that looks yummy!
Plates are made for dirtying.
Thanks for the tip!
Does your dishwasher know when you add that additional plate?
@@Hacker-xe8yvDoes everyone have a dishwasher?
I AM the dishwasher 🤣
How much oil did you put?

Hello.... question:how with only one cup of water and 20 minutes in high pressure doesnt the water vaporize?and burn the chichen?
Pressure cooker is sealed, so none of the water evaporates. It creates pressure by keeping the steam inside

Instead of the plate for seasoning try putting them in a Ziploc freezer bags and add seasonings and shake drumsticks in the bag.
Great tip, thanks for sharing!
Gloves?
I'm wearing disposable gloves in the video

Yes I totally agree! 🤗
How long does the air fryer take? The ones I've used take like 40 minutes (at 375) to get the chicken where I like it

great direction, I will try. Cheers!!

Thank you melanie

Going to give this a try. My only concern is how does the skin turn out?
Skin is soft. If you want crispier skin, you can put it for 5 minutes after it's cooked under the broiler or in the air fryer

How much would you set the timer for if the drum sticks were frozen?
Here's my recipe for frozen drumsticks in the instant pot: www.melaniecooks.com/instant-pot-frozen-chicken-legs/14009/
So simple!
Sure is!
I did not understand what you said about one of the seasonings. It is good to edit the name of ingredients in text on the screen.
Seasonings are salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika
