Phil agree
Cause Joe is too much of a wimp to invite him. Dude decided to go carnivore for a month despite how well the game changers debate went ahahaha.
For sure, after the game changers debate hasn’t been any vegan hate coming from the show and I think that shows a lot of impact.

First week of the switch I was so bloated !! My body was being flushed out and now I am less bloated than I have ever been!
Takes a while for the microbiom to adjust
The remark about not everyone being ready for kale/quinoa cracked me up. I took a transcontinental flight across the U.S. to Vancouver from North Carolina and had requested vegan meals. All three of them consisted of red beans, brown rice, and bean sprouts with a bit of fruit. I had been on a mostly plant-based diet but had frequently included faux meats and not much in the way of cooked beans. By the time I got to my hotel that evening, I could barely walk upright and my stomach felt as though it would burst my waistband. Lesson learned (the hard way).
Whats wrong with his hand holding the mic, looks like there is no blood in there?
He is just vegan😂😂😂😂
Oh gosh, I see what you mean.

The only activities for which that having big muscles may help have more confidence are the physical strength-dependent ones, such as for instance, lifting cars.
Thanks for having Dr. Greger on.
I love this video! I'm eating a plant based diet currently for the month of January. I have to say that I was sorely unprepared and uneducated starting out. I did not start off slow and found myself getting bloated and having horrible digestive issues the first week. That spike in fiber intake along with me eating the unhealthy vegan foods seemed to be the reason. I also found myself getting exhausted way more than usual. (Which is most likely due to my lack of Vitamin B12) I personally will be going back to eating meat come February just so that I can be more prepared for me next attempt. (Baby steps for me.) I definitely have a new found respect for anyone who has the self discipline and knowledge to effectively eat a healthy vegan diet. All too often I see people on RUclips promoting veganism to their followers, but have EXTREMELY RESTRICTIVE diets and becoming sick. I understand that my issues that arose when being vegan are because of my lack of knowledge and preparation, but a lot of people blame the diet instead.
you still vegan now? 😃
@@plantrightsmatter3011 No. lol. I was only doing it for the month of January.

Ever since I went vegan, my health just keeps improving and improving, as noted by my annual medical blood work panel as well as my energy level and how I feel. As a vegan you do need to read up on it a bit, you can't just cut out meat and dairy and keep on eating junk ... whole food, real food, learn to cook so you can make these tasty new meals from scratch, taking the right kind of Cyanocobalamin B-12. Also take carnitine supplements for a while if you are crazy craving meat ( I took it for 3 months, spacing out the dosing to whenever I craved meat, but even your body will eventually kick in and start to make it on it's own). Bottom line read Dr. Gregers book How Not to Die and you will know everything you need to know to be the healthiest person you can be. Endless thanks to Dr. Greger.

Thank you for asking about the bloating issue. It’s the only reason why I quit plant based. I did it for like 4 months straight and I just couldn’t handle the bloat I truly thought something was wrong with me. Now I know I just have to keep pushing through until my “gut flies” return to normal.

I truly wish I could eat all the greens I could but then I’d have to chug down a palm full of Warfarn to get my INR back to 2.5- 3.5. If you are on coumadin - im assuming your going to a coumadin clinic and they are monitoring your every 3 months if not more? As this is the protocol - I would ask your DR to partner with a nutritionist or dietician to make a plan for your and monitor your coagulation during the plan. This is what is done with inpatient.
Here is some information to help you understand. You should talk to your physician about this: The Truth About Blood Thinners, Leafy Greens, And Vitamin K
May 03, 2022
TOPICS: Arrhythmia Heart Conditions and Treatments
If you take blood thinners, chances are you've heard that certain foods - like leafy greens - can cause potentially dangerous food-drug interactions.
"I get a lot of patients who come to me and say, 'I was told to avoid these foods because they interfere with my medication'," says Fran Burke MS, RD, a clinical dietitian in the Preventive Cardiovascular Program at Penn Medicine. "But the issue isn't avoidance, it's consistency."
The Truth About Blood Thinners and Vitamin K
We asked Fran about about blood thinners and foods rich in vitamin K and here is what she had to say:
Who takes blood thinners and why?
Patients are placed on blood thinners for a variety of medical conditions, including atrial fibrillation (A-Fib).
In A-Fib, blood isn't properly pumped out of the heart, which can cause clots to form. The blood clots can then dislodge from the heart and cause a type of stroke called ischemic stroke.
"People who have A-Fib are at risk of having a stroke, so they're put on blood thinners to prevent blood clots," explains Fran.
How do blood thinners interact with Vitamin K?
According to the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the body uses vitamin K to help clot blood. Because people with A-Fib are at risk for clots in the heart, vitamin K has important implications.
Warfarin (the generic version of Coumadin) is the most widely used blood thinner that works by blocking a vitamin K-dependent step in clotting factor production.
This is why consistency in vitamin K intake is important: Your body needs to keep a balance between the amounts of vitamin K and warfarin in your system.
However, not all blood thinners interact with vitamin K, so ask your physician about your specific medication.
"The new anticoagulation agents include Rivaroxaban (Xarelto), Dabigatran (Pradaxa), and Apixaban (Eliquis). These agents have no food-drug interactions and therefore do not interact with vitamin K," explains Fran.
Foods high in vitamin K
How can you keep Vitamin K levels consistent?
"What you should try to do is keep your intake of foods rich in vitamin K about the same each day," says Fran. "For example, if you eat one serving of broccoli on one day, you should plan on eating one serving of a high vitamin K food the next and so on. One serving a day, several days a week would help to keep your vitamin K intake consistent."
Fran explains that the adequate intake (AI) for vitamin K for men and women who are 19 years old or older is 120 mcg and 90 mcg, respectively. A cup of raw spinach contains about 145 mcg of vitamin K, whereas 1 cup of cooked broccoli contains about 220 mcg of vitamin K.
How are patients who take blood thinners monitored?
Warfarin doses need to be monitored closely. Patients can go to an outpatient warfarin clinic where they are monitored - initially once a week for about one month, then every two weeks, and finally once a month.
The main blood test used to monitor patients on warfarin is called prothrombin time (PT). A PT test measures how long it takes for plasma (the liquid portion of your blood) to clot, says the NLM.
The result is often listed as a number called an international normalized ratio (INR). People who are not on blood thinners should have an INR between 0.8 and 1.1, according to the NLM. People who are on warfarin should be between 2.0 and 3.0 for most conditions.
If you are on blood thinners, the key to minimizing food and drug interactions is through consistency, not avoidance. Eating a steady amount of vitamin K rich foods each day helps ensure a healthy, well-balanced body.

I’m curious on mTOR regulation. I don’t agree with his position because the evidence seems clear that chronic over stimulation of mTOR is problematic but equally problematic is underactive mTOR causing Sarcopenia, which I think Dr. Gregor suffers from already at only 51. I think there’s specialists that are more balanced in this field, and will find some up regulating and down regulating cycling of mTOR will be optimum for muscle growth and longevity. This may include using Metformin and other chemicals. I just wonder can we do it in a 24 hour circadian cycle or would be some kind of a multi-day period for the cycling. ?

My hubby gleefully responded, “I’m eating mostly plants!” His GP was impressed. Hubby can see the health benefits, but struggles to give up butter. It’s the ONLY animal product in the house. I’m prepared to overlook that choice as he has come a long way, simply accepting and appreciating the value and benefits. I hope he gets there eventually, and embraces Veganism. He doesn’t want to be preached at when it comes to the animals😢I’m working on him, kindly and gently.
Your thumbnail says “This May Have Stumped Him.” What are you referring to? He didn’t seemed stumped at all. 🤔
It's called clickbait
his hand looks like he opened chernobyl doors to the reactor after explosion
LMAO
I read this, scrolled up to the video, and looked at his hand. Busted out laughing.
Holy shit.
He stole an everlasting blueberry gobstopper from Willy Wonka. :-)
Christ almighty hahahah
Im wondering if dr greger has Vitiligo, anybody know?
Yo Brian are you gonna respond to Frank tufano video where he bashed you about this video?
Brian, don't bother wasting your time on it. Continue to spend your time and energy on the positive work your doing.
I think there were so much "why i'm no longer vegan" videos is because these people did the vegan diet in an unhealthy way and were way to restrictive and under ate on calories. The problems of these people were not caused by veganism but by restricting even more foods in addition to animal products.
They probably underrate because they didn't like what they were eating. You bloat yourself with fiber, you don't want to eat anymore.
what exactly is the "right" way? Dr Greger himself looks like he's the crypt keeper and I don't know if anybody can do it better than him.
@@10010x0x0x01101XX0X1 nutrition is surprisingly simple, just eat whole foods and avoid processed foods. But beyond that, no need for further restriction (for most people), as this restrictive mindset is bad for mental health and causes you to undereat and miss out on nutrients.
marieke pleiter please dear, as a woman we bleed out our nutrition every month. Theres a reason why our ancestors fed organ meets to pregnant women. Eat your meat. Forget the dogma. You can’t help anyone without being your best self.
@@r.m5883 I never said I was a vegan, in fact I eat all foods, as long as they are whole food :) I had beef liver today
the thing is, I love dr Greger 🌞
Great interview! 😀
Excellent interview man. Always get a kick out of Dr. Greger's vibe.
I'm a wfpb vegan for over 3 years now :-). 2016 I came across Dr. Gregers work - for me personally it was life changing.
To make sure that I'm doing everything right, I got my blood tested before going vegan and since then I check it regularly. Since going vegan I lost over 46 kg / 100 lbs, without restricting anything. I don't count calories and I eat my carbs, because who doesn't want to be happy and satisfied? And of course I eat junk once in a while, because - why not :-D.
My blood work is way better than before going vegan. Minerals and vitamins are better, cholesterol, sugar, etc. went down. I'm not tired after having a meal, like I was in the past. Generally I have more energy. I really feel great and my blood work confirms it. Most people are so surprised about my change and they think, that I have to be very strong-willed, but honestly, that's not the case at all. It just feels good and natural to me :-).
(Side note: English is not my mother tongue, so bear with me :-).)
Congrats on being healthy & thank you for being an awesome wfpb vegan!
You lost 46kg which clearly means that while you weren't eating any meat, your body clearly was. Your body was eating itself, if you continue on ths crazy diet you will deplete all your reserves and die. A marker of a healthy diet is one where you don't lose or gain weight, feel satiated and don't have crazy cravings.
Your English is very good!
Great video! This has inspired me to start taking my algae based supplement again!

Great interview Brian. Well done.
It’s nice to hear him answering a few common questions. It would be great to find out more about his own habits and what his treat or splurge look like. Is he 100% good or does he have a weak spot for something ;). Maybe next time
Wow great job fellas! Nice to hear the facts! Is taking spilurina daily a good source for DHA? Me and my wife take daily still. If not is there something better t ok supplement?
