This is explorer mode. In tactician they would roast your ass turn one.
I personally love using the polymorph wings which allows for amazing low cost mobility, and the steel heart skill which not only fortifies armor but also restores it.
I wish all of your builds would have been displayed as this one has. As a player who likes to plan ahead exactly how he is going to play (as a new player), breaking down which skills and talents to use on a per level basis was an awesome help!

I'm currently running this on my main character (Ifan), alongside a Frost Paladin (Red Prince), a Sanguine Bowman (Sebille), and a Tidalist (Lohse). This far, I've been impressed with the strength of this party!
i dislike the music in this game to the point that i turned the music off completely and created my own playlist with soundtracks from different fantasy movies =D
Jeremy Baskin I’m pretty sure he was questioning how it works with this build since it has barely any necro skills. Basically the only one is bone cage, which already only costs 1 AP
Yet another exiting fun looking spec! I recently got to act 2..but with all these guides I am thinking of restarting the entire game 😁 keep up the good Work!
After struggling through the entire game with a squishy (but lethal) undead rogue I decided to start over and try this build out, and needless to say I am very impressed. Crazy, stupid strong and fun.
Every time i was looking for a build guide for crpgs (Solasta, Baldurs Gate etc) i always ended up on your website, because: - Good Structure - Easy to follow - Simply makes you a god So i thank you very much for making my CRPG runs so much more satisfying, because noone in my party is ever weak. Much love
I've started a character much like this. Although I've pumped Necro along with Warfare to boost that life steal. By lvl 5 I was wrecking every group in fort joy with almost game breaking levels of "not even close" lol
This was the build that finally let me get into the game and get the mechanics and ways to play without feeling I was doing everything wrong! Great guide and build, I'll try any other ones you have for future playthroughts (70+ so far).
This build is absolutely broken in a lonewolf run. Hitting for up to 8k end game, and the devourer set makes it even more ridiculous. Constant refreshes on skills gives you enough ap to finish the fight in 1 turn. Definitely my favorite build.
Yeah, the Devourer Set synergizes with a Warfare/Necro build so well that it breaks the game. In the final battle I killed You-Know-Who in one turn using Onslaught and a couple of lucky crits. 💪
Awesome! I've created my Death Knight's backstory, & I'm glad to have watched this vid. Looking forward to DOS2, loved BG3 + stoked for Larian's next game
First thing first: thank you so much Fex for all your work! I'm still playing the game and atm i'm playing a full physic build with Duelist, Eternal warrior, Blood mage and Ranger following your guide. The only thing that i think it should be added to your video is the importance of Equipment. Due to the fact that as you said in this video, armor is everything, it is so important to invest lot of money into equipment. Eternal warrior for exemple is a quite expensive build since the vitality is low you need a great gear to survive.
I've just picked up DoS 2 after getting very excited about baulders gate 3! these guides have helped so much I hope you will be doing some Bg3 guides tips tricks etc. Thank you for all the hard work. 👍
My favourite build I’ve made was a necromancer/rogue so I had all the awesome necro skills with things like adrenaline and backstab crits, with my party providing me with buffs like clear minded and fortify. And I was undead so I just had to turns mist and other effects around me into poison and use mosquito swarm. I just never died and was a front liner with the Red Prince
Would be very helpful if there was some guide on what to allocate on a level by level basis. Like should I get strength to a certain level before I allocate points to something else? In what order should things be done? As it is, I can only screenshot the stats at level 16, then try n do maths to figure out what my stats should be at level 3
Chicken claw is ABSOLUTELY worth taking. It CCs for 2 turns, unlike most other CCs. You can also use it against any boss, even ones that are normally CC-immune (except Kraken).
These videos are great! Thank you for taking the effort to make our lives a little bit easier (and making this game feel less daunting) :) One question tho, I can't remember seeing any real points being put into the weapon abilities (two-handed, dual-wield and so forth), does these attributes only affect the basic attacks, and not the activated skills?
Been using a similar build to this in my current playthough. I've been slotting a couple healing spells from the hydro school to use in a pinch (since with living armor they restore magic armor too), but also to use offensively on undead or decaying targets.
Well, in theory this build can actually try to take down the stormchaiser in 1v1 encounter if it would have the “armour of eternals” of an appropriate level to ignore the air CC. It all would come down to weather ore not the stormchaiser would give enough burst to kill the eternal warrior in two turns before the evasion runs out. Because then the warrior would have enough damage/heal/magic armour regain to retaliate with no problems at all. Yet I will unfortunately be unable to proof that on practice, as people who I play with are not really into stormchaising.
True, but I don't know if 1v1 effectiveness is the best way to judge the game-breaking ability of a build. Unless we're talking about arena play, I think we should measure how capable it is to wreck things around it. I tried this build and it was downright invincible, but it was slower and it felt like it owned the game less than the chaser. I don't know, that was my experience.
goblinoid, fair enough. At the end it always comes down to the personal experience. The only objective view point here is that these builds do brake the game)
@@TheGoblinoid Stormchaser is definitely more OP in the early game, but this build takes the cake in the late game (especially Definitive Edition because the Devourer Armor is absolutely perfect for it).
Thanks a really helpfull guide for a build i was trying to make myself. Great info and tips. Do you have any tips on which companions to take with you?
8:12 Chicken Claw probably the most aggressive skill in the game with any build that uses source points for damage. 3 free turns of damage in a row is too good to pass up.
detailed and well explained guide... only issue is I'm playing tactician and the enemies actually do ~10x damage from your example video at the end ;D I have close to perfect gear for my level but yeah on this difficulty most enemies can easily 1 shot any one of my party members
is the orignal death knight you made still good? I just like that build more, it looks easier to achieve for a new player and honestly i have no idea how skill books even work yet lol. Can I use them and respec later keeping the same books i learned? Should i learn every book I find?
Chicken claw is not good, because it does no damage therefore it doesn't kill your enemy, what is the best cc. Just concentrate on the enemy that has the next turn and kill him or knock him down. Than it'll be your turn and you can not get hit.
My main problem with this game is I can not settle on anything i keep starting over. Change my mind on my class, thats not SO bad just respect but I have changed my mind on who I want to play or who I want with me so many times.
you list Vamp Hunger as one of the first Hydro skills to get. i've never seen it available on Fort Joy. i love that you took the effort to list skill progression. really helpful, thx
I'm a little late, but I've been looking at some of your build videos. I'm in love with tanking in my RPG/MMOS so that'll be my character as I bought it last night. Is all the information in this video still viable? Im assuming there must have been buffs/nerfs at one point.
Hey Fex!! Great guides m8. I restart the game after 1year and i am a need of advice. I formed a party of Eternal warrior, Ranger/Summ,Duellist Rog and Blood Mage.In your opinion will work?
Have you tried this with 5 points in polymorph for apotheosis? 2 AP Apotheosis, adrenaline, flesh sacrifice 3 AP Bloodstorm, 1 AP grasp of the starved both of which scale off of warfare because physical dmg. you don't even need lone wolf to pull that off in one turn.
just picked up this gem without knowing anything about the game. Loving it so far but getting my ass handed to me. Kind of feel guilty looking into these awesome builds but I need the help lol
I just downloaded this game and I can’t wait to get out of work and play. I’m gonna be looking to your guises for advice. Is multiplayer still alive in this game? I want to group up with people
I have a sort of eternal death knight build, going with just warfare necro and hydro scoundrel for the combo skills lifr vamp, cleans wounds, and thr blood rain skills in a lone wolf duo game and its getting to the point where i can overpower most characters, with both physical and magical armor above 1000. Honestly your first death knight build was perfectly fine lol
I just started playing, love it so far, I'm making an eternal warrior and it is a lot of fun so far... just had a question.. will i learn the abilities on my own or do i have to find tomes and learn them my self, like for bone cage and such.. Thanks!
Hello, i just quickly wanted to ask if it's okay to put two points into geomancy for Fortify, you said this build lacks physical armor regeneration, so why don't you skill that way? thanks for the answer and i can't wait to play this awesome class during my first playthrough of divinity
Is it viable to use finesse, finesse-based armor, and spears instead? Since you recommend a balance of str/int armor anyway, doesn't finesse gear cover the middle-ground of armor types? I imagine the only drawback would be finding a good spear.
Can anyone tell me where to find good armor??? I’m level 12 and while my dude is tanky they always shred his armor the opening round of combat forcing me to use abilities like ring or protection. Like before I can even do anything they always try to focus him on the ambushes and get rid of his armor edit: lol nvm, armor drops got exponentially better between levels 12 and 16
Well... I need some advice I guess. My problem is that I want one guy to be a buff/armor build and the wizard to be a debuff/damage guy what builds would you recommend?
Late I know, but how about Mosquito Swarm. It deals physical damage, so boosted by warfare and heals yourself, so more Magic Armour regen. Also Shackles of Pain and Reactive Armour can be combo-ed as well as Living on the Edge and Shackles of Pain. If you play as undead you can use the latter combo and just down a large healing potion to do significant damage to your target.
They sell the skill books in Fort Joy. I've got the Red Prince as my warrior and I for sure have Phoenix dive, i may even have blitz attack but i don't remember, it's been a few days since i played and updated his skills
You just got a new Subscriber thanks for the builds all are very detailed and powerful I was just curious in your opinion out of all your builds which one is the best which is the most overpowered reason I ask is because I want my main to be the most powerful I want him to be the best in the party. So yea which is your best/most powerful/overpowered build?
I think probably the Eternal Warrior, Blood Mage or Assassin. Physical Damage is simply superior to Elemental Damage because it cannot be resisted so you will always do full value unless the enemy has an immunity.
Thank you for the reply I have one more question I was plan on using a mod that allows me to have as many companions as I want in my party. I work a lot so I plan on doing only one playthrough for this game so I wanted to experience all companions and there stories in one playthrough. I will have a party of 7 my main who will be a custom character and 6 other companions. I will also being using a mod to make the difficulty even harder. Basically I was wondering if you were to have a party of 7 which 7 builds would be the most effective for a 7 character party.
I don't know as I have never played with 7 characters. I can't imagine it would be a lot of fun to play all Physical Damage builds if you're only going to play once, so I would recommend just playing with any of the Builds you think look fun.
reaaaaally late on this one, did you make this build with tactician in mind or with classic? im wanting to do a second playthrough but tempted to do it lone wolf tactician (with 1 companion, prolly the magic archer/assasin build) and was wondering if i would just be slamming my head into a wall with this or if its doable, and whats a good point to take which talent as i'd start out with lone wolf instead of oppertunist
I had a peculiar experience with my Eternal Warrior playthrough: I did my own thing, made a lizard Death Knight and played along with my brother until we reached Driftwood and found a weirdly horned up woman below one of the houses in what was clearly a drudanae den. She invited me to go with her and, thinking nothing else of it, I went. Queue my surprise when I figure out she's not human but a spider creature that grants me a wish in exchange for a kiss. She shows me a vision, I see a tree and the usual dream stuff. When she asked me what I noticed, I said the cocoon of a butterfly and she gave me a phoenix statuette. At first, I was let down and thought I had gotten a pretty raw deal. That is, until I died and came back during a boss fight. He was low enough that I managed to solo the rest and then revived my brother and the rest of the party though we did bemoan the loss of my statuette and joked about getting another one. That got me thinking: what if there WAS a way? I admit, I googled the answer but you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that combining a resurrection scroll with the statuette rekindled the fire of the phoenix. It cost 1 AP to do so and it essentially made me a true immortal warrior. Just to mess around with him, at the very end, I decided to challenge him for the right to be the next godly head honcho and it took my brother 16 tries before he managed to luck out and kill me before I could repair my statuette. TL;DR: Tell the spider lady that you saw a cocoon and grab as many resurrection scrolls, you will thank me later.
I'm pretty new to this game and i'm trying to make my red prince companion this build. Should I just start him out as a fighter when i talk to him about what he should be? I don't think i can make him a metamorph via the dialogue in the beginning of the game. Awesome video by the way. I've been learning so much from you.
Lastly, I've been wondering if it is possible to make a hybrid between this and the cleric build you guys published. Will be my attempt in my upcoming coop playthrough. And good job on the builds.
I'm having some trouble, I'd like to play as a Lizard and would like to include Red-Prince, Fane and Fafn in the group, but I don't know what builds I should play this group with... its driving me nuts!

This guy must be like the Yoda of DOS2 😁
I just downloaded this game and I can’t wait to get out of work and play. I’m gonna be looking to your guises for advice. Is multiplayer still alive in this game? I want to group up with people
I have a sort of eternal death knight build, going with just warfare necro and hydro scoundrel for the combo skills lifr vamp, cleans wounds, and thr blood rain skills in a lone wolf duo game and its getting to the point where i can overpower most characters, with both physical and magical armor above 1000. Honestly your first death knight build was perfectly fine lol
i agree i put one point into summoning and it broke the lone wolf playthrough and if you add sadist and tourcher to the mix it get destructive
I just started playing, love it so far, I'm making an eternal warrior and it is a lot of fun so far... just had a question.. will i learn the abilities on my own or do i have to find tomes and learn them my self, like for bone cage and such.. Thanks!
Thanks!!
Hello, i just quickly wanted to ask if it's okay to put two points into geomancy for Fortify, you said this build lacks physical armor regeneration, so why don't you skill that way? thanks for the answer and i can't wait to play this awesome class during my first playthrough of divinity
Yes definitely. The skills I have listed are the "minimum" I would use. Feel free to add to it!
Like before I can even do anything they always try to focus him on the ambushes and get rid of his armor
edit: lol nvm, armor drops got exponentially better between levels 12 and 16
Well... I need some advice I guess.
My problem is that I want one guy to be a buff/armor build and the wizard to be a debuff/damage guy what builds would you recommend?
Appreciate that buidl budd , nice work , but i feel like there's not enough aggressive skills , but i don't know what to add , any
recommendations?
Late I know, but how about Mosquito Swarm. It deals physical damage, so boosted by warfare and heals yourself, so more Magic Armour regen.
Also Shackles of Pain and Reactive Armour can be combo-ed as well as Living on the Edge and Shackles of Pain. If you play as undead you can use the latter combo and just down a large healing potion to do significant damage to your target.
You listed Blitz Attack and Phoenix Dive as Lvl 4-8 Skills, but how do you acquire them before Act 2?
Can this build work with necromancer skills?
I had a peculiar experience with my Eternal Warrior playthrough:
I did my own thing, made a lizard Death Knight and played along with my brother until we reached Driftwood and found a weirdly horned up woman below one of the houses in what was clearly a drudanae den.
TL;DR: Tell the spider lady that you saw a cocoon and grab as many resurrection scrolls, you will thank me later.
are these builds supposed to be played solo , or may i add more into the party ?
I'm pretty new to this game and i'm trying to make my red prince companion this build. Should I just start him out as a fighter when i talk to him about what he should be? I don't think i can make him a metamorph via the dialogue in the beginning of the game. Awesome video by the way. I've been learning so much from you.
The Juggernaut is the best build for the Fighter preset. You don't have to change a single thing; not even the starting skills.
Eyyy. first.. also, been waiting for this one for a little while now. :)
Hi guys, where i can find all equipements of this build like location for example, in your vid we can't see your type of helmet ? thanks a lot, i use this build and it's terribly works !
